It depends. The side effects can go either way - weight gain, weight *loss*... sm
Or no weight change at all, but maybe some other unpleasant side effect. Or you might have only mild side effects, or none at all and it's like a miracle cure for you. ;o) Everyone is so different, you never know until you try a med. for yourself.
weight loss
I use TrimSpa (baby) it's working o.k. I am making a conscious effort to not fry, not add salt, eliminated cornbread (I'm a Southerner), etc., etc. I work a lot of night hours and this helps me with my snacking between 9 p and mid. I do drink green tea. I think it boosts my metabolism....
weight loss
just a general word of encouragement to everyone trying to lose weight that YOU C-A-N DO IT!!!!!   I am very small-boned, 5' 6', and weighed nearly DOUBLE my normal body weight.  Looked like nothing but a big bowl of pudding.  One day I decided to move.  Maybe it was the Nike slogan, but I just did it.  Could barely walk around ONE BLOCK.  But I walked the block.  One day, I could walk two blocks.  One day I walked a mile.  Took me two years to lose the weight, ladies, but I got skinny and toned by EXERCISE (95% walking, a bit at the gym, not much), and sensible eating.  Every single reader here knows what sensible eating is:  Eat healthy, not overprocessed food, and don't eat too much of it  PERIOD.  Deep down, we all know that.  Admit it and change your eating habits -- and walk and/or exercise, and you can do it.  By the way, I am not holier than thou, I did used to take ephedra at half the recommended dosage, every day in the early days, just to take the edge off at dinner time, when I would rip off the cabinet doors cuz i got so hungry for the deadly four: pasta, potatoes, rice and bread.  Couldn't get enough of it.  decreasing (NOT ELIMINATING) these and making myself full with veggies and water did the trick.  I eventually eliminated the ephedra.  GOOD LUCK  TO ALL OF YOU.  Nike:  Just Do It.

I tried the following - a little more walking, no more white bread,(12 grain), flavored non-dairy creamer instead of cream, not water-friendly, so drank a lot of non-caffeine tea (raspberry) and Sweet & Low (don't think this is a good idea). Tried Benefiber chewable to add bulk and fiber; lean beef, 90% lean a few times a week only, sweet potatoes instead of white, only 1 at a time and generally cutting out the obvious (no alcohol, fried foods, rich pastry). Took off 15 lbs. and was able to get into an old Size 10 for my reunion, from a 14, and saved a bunch on new clothes and felt great! Hope I can keep it up. When my son was getting married years ago, I hated the "mother of the groom" puffy chiffons, so I stationery biked from Feb. to May and went from a 14 to a 10 (700 miles total) and wore a lovely silk suit. Unfortunately, I ate my way back because I felt the "empty nest" syndrome. Once you lose, don't snooze, keep it up! You'll like yourself better. This profession can ruin your body, take control by getting up and moving around as much as you can. I did not do that and suffer the consequences with my back, my right thumb is totally painful so that I can't open jars, unlock the babies' safety belts, etc., it comes upon you when the damage is done. Don't let it happen to you, exercise when you can, you're worth it!
Has anyone used LA Weight Loss?
If so, what were your results. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA
LA WEIGHT LOSS
I tried it and lost 40 pounds in 3 months or so but it came back as quick as it went. They are VERY expensive. Currently not working on anything but GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!
weight loss
I needed to reduce my cholesterol, so I really cut down on fat in my diet.  By doing this, I not only lowered my cholesterol, but I lost about 13 lbs. in 5 months!  This is so much safer than those fad diets.
weight loss over 50
Thanks so much for responding and for your words of encouragement! At age 56, it's very encouraging to hear this. Small goals and one-day-at-a-time are very good advice Thanks again! (and congratulations on your weight loss too!)
weight loss over 50 years of age.
Your post is so inspiring--Would you mind telling your age (just roughly?) I so badly want to lose on my own--without going to expensive weight loss clubs. A so-called friend insists that once past age 50, metabolism is so slow, it is next to impossible--very discouraging to hear. Thanks for your uplifting post!
getting up and moving about or weight loss.NM

Such a tremendous weight loss!
Apple Scruff--Could you elaborate how you initially got started--did you follow a specific diet? With a sedentary MT job, did you force yourself to exercise much? A "scare" really is a tremendous motivator (it took a "scare" to get me to stop smoking, but I am not having success taking off approximately the same amount of weight that you succeeded at losing) Thanks for your tips.
weight loss and bypass

Hi!  Several things here - 1)You are on COBRA now, is the insurance your husband has group or individual?  If it group and you are on COBRA, then you are considered covered with no lapse in coverage and they HAVE to take you!  I don't think they have to cover you if it is not a group policy.

2) Gastric bypass - my brother had one at 605 pounds.  I need one, but my insurance wouldn't cover and I can't afford it, so I won't do that.  But if you live in Arkansas, I have the name of a fantastic doctor  - the one that did my brother's!

excess skin after weight loss
Did you then have surgery to remove the sagging skin? I need to lose 140 lbs, which I have packed on over the past 20 years. I never weighed over 112 lbs. or wore larger than a size 3 (!!) until I turned 30. My lifestyle changed (not for the better) at that point, and I basically lose interest in how I looked. Now, at age 51, my health is seriously in trouble due to my obesity. What am I going to do with all the excess skin? I already have a big fat pouch under my waist, and above my waist I look like I'm 7 months pregnant! Are there any health insurance plans that will pay for surgery to remove the leftover skin? I see people on Dr. 90210 having the surgery, but I bet they have to pay out of pocket and I bet it's tens of thousands of dollars.
sagging skin after weight loss
Thanks for much the info about plastic surgery. I guess the only way to look at it is this: My health and life are in danger if I don't take this weight off. Whether or not I'm left with skin hanging down to my ankles (I hope I'm exaggerating!), at least I'll be alive and have more energy and flexibility. Guess I should cross one bridge at a time. :) I've decided to start Michael Thurmond's Lifestyle Change course. Ordered the whole kit from HSN (or maybe QVC), and truly think I can do it. Have never tried any diets in the past. Was in denial about my weight for the longest time...kept thinking it was a "phase." Ha-ha! You know how formerly anorectic people still think of themselves as fat? Well, I'm an stress-overeater in denial, and I still think of myself as thin...until I see myself in the mirror. Yikes!
Gatorade ... push it. He is dehydrated maybe with that weight loss.

I had an occasion to personally ask a weight loss physician...
about all these cortisol products on the market.  She said FORGET IT.  It's a waste of money.  If you read the bottle, they all say that you must follow a sensible diet and exercise regime.  In my belief, you'll lose weight without the pills if you watch what you eat and exercise.  I've lost 8 pounds since January 1.  No pills, no special diet food, no membership fees, nothing.  I try to eat food that comes in the form that mother nature provided.  No white bread, pasta, or rice.  All brown forms of those foods.  Lots of salads, vegetables, fruits, lean meats.  No cakes, cookies, pies, or other such junk.  I have some occasional fat-free candy like Mike N Ike just to keep my sweet tooth happy.  It's working.  Slowly, but it's working.
I had a local weight loss clinic not pay and finally had to get an attorney. sm
Had to pay the attorney so lost some.  By that time, I was so angry, it had become a matter of principle and was determined to make them pay.
Yes, I lost 42 pounds on LA Weight Loss, but gained back 50 a little more than a year later . .

I was on the program for approximately four months and lost 40 pounds.  The weight did come off really fast.  At the time I was a member, there was a rebate if you kept the weight off for one year.  It sounded good, but you had to buy the supplements for the entire year, which by the end of the year added up to a few thousand dollars.

In any case, after I finally lost the weight, I got pregnant with my fourth child.  I am now trying to lose the 50 pounds that I gained while pregnant, but my metabolism seems so much slower now.  The weight isn't coming off nearly as fast as before. :(

Instant Text and Stedman's are compatible. Not sure of any combo products that would work.

I have to say that I buy a lot of products from TVPS and have never had a

problem.  Before calling the BBB and credit card company, why not try again to contact the company?  People are always so quick to jump and complain to the BBB, when situations can be resolved.  I would suggest calling and asking to speak to Tom Wilkes directly.  His extension is 101.

BTW, I do not work for TVPS, I own an MTSO and only purchase from them.

Hair products...
I remember hearing a rumor that Prell or Pert would turn your hair green. I'm a brunette, never happened. Also, what ever happened to "creme/cream rinse"? That's what it was called in the 80's. In my Aqua Net days, I could make my bangs stand up about 2 inches, my best girlfriend's bangs were 4 inches high! Wow! I love this. Let's keep going.
Weird MT products
I am sure that with equality of hiring acts, ergonomics, handicap working issues, everything that can be thought of is out in cyberspace somewhere.  I think it is just a matter of surfing the web til you find these products.  I have seen one-handed keyboards that look similar to a joy sticks, as well as other configurations.
natural products helped me - sm
I feel for you. Different story, (though same in that tubes tied, PMS-crazy 10 out of 30 day each month, teens) but maybe this might help you. I could not opt for hormone tx (diabetic)after hysterectomy (for other changes in cycle; light, then very heavy, then not there) and opted for surgery when fibroids were found.)Immediate surgical menopause resulted in symptoms even though before this my FSH and estradiol levels came back I was not peri.

Researched websites and found natural progesterone cream (bought at local health store)helped me a lot, but wound up on Lexapro (calming) too. Taken together, this was the optimum fix for me.
ALLERGIES AND MARYKAY PRODUCTS.

I am trying to find out why my eye keep watering (only on one side).   Has anyone been allergic to Mary Kay.  I have been using it for 20 years but for the last 5 months my eye won't stop watering.  Doctor said it must be allergy to something.  I do not wear mascara or eye shadow.

check out entirelypets.com. On the products I use
they are significantly cheaper than petrx.  If your order is a certain amount ($100 I think and mine always are) you get free shipping.  They also send me e-coupons every month $3.00 off $45/order, $5 off $100 something+ order, etc.  They also have sales.  Their selection of products is excellent.  You may have to type in a product in the search box as you may not find what you are looking for in their menu, but they have had every med my dog/cats are one and they are multiple.  They also have things like sprays and shampoos that my vet doesn't carry, that I have found to work better than what my vet carries.  They also have homeopathic products.  I have ordered 3 times without problem, ships the next day via priority mail.   I have yet to order a product that I need a prescription for.  One prescription med my dog is on is not available from my vet and I have to get at the local pharmacy and they are about 25 cents higher at entirelypets than the drug store.  They also sell them by the pill so you have to be careful and read the fine print.  The pills are $6.00 and I thought the first time it was $6.00/bottle that I paid $180 for at the pharmacy - LOL.
facial hair products-sm
I am post menopausal and deal with upper lip facial hair.  I have tried several things such as creams and tweezing (ouch) and shaving.  I'm not happy with any of them.  What's a woman to do?  I can't just leave it.  It's too dark and too much.  I can't afford expensive treatments.  Isn't there a decent product out there for this problem?
facial hair products
waxing with honey bee wax. u can buy it at Sally's Beauty Supply. it's $10 a jar that will last u months plus the strips which are $10 and the wooden sticks. u just feel a quick tug. the redness goes away within an hour, maybe less. it'll last u a week. it's the treatment i like the best from creams, bleaching, and tweezing.
Stedman's make their products so you have
to have the CD to install and the newer programs only allow 2 installs.  You can move other programs by copying to CD or a flash drive.   I've done this with 3 computers, but it doesn't work with Stedman's.
Handmade-new law for products for children

If anyone is thinking of making handmade items for children as a sideline you should read this new Consumer Protection Agcy law.  Good idea, keeping our children safe from lead but not a well thought out law and will put small businesses out of business.

Craig's list products
Is buying off a website like that, or from another person, like pirating?  Most likely cannot get a license to use this and would be a waste of money??
Boycotting their products/services - SM
wherever and whenever possible.  To make this an effective deterrent to these companies, it would have to gain large media-wide attention, encouraging Americans to boycott companies who offshore and their products, services or anything else they have to offer - might start by enlightening them (U.S. consumers) - "They need YOU more than you need THEM, so make yourself heard! OR ELSE - WHERE WILL YOUR CHILDREN WORK???

I got a face full of acne from their products....
along time ago. I can no longer use Marykay facial products. I also get cold sores from "all" lipsticks. I only know of one other person like this and she is a cousin of mine.
skin care products and allergies

I used another product that is sold on QVC by a lady doctor in September.  Overnight I developed a horrible burn on my face that nearly closed both eyes.  My skin was so red under my eyes that I looked like I had two black eyes.  I believe it was a chemical burn caused by some ingredient in that product.  It is now December 12, and I still suffer from a burning sensation and very red cheeks and sensitive eyes.  I have not used this product since that first episode, but I have used other products from other companies, with the same result.  I believe most of the upscale cosmetic and skin care products must contain the same ingredient that is too harsh for sensitive skin (obviously) and that may cause an allergic reaction.

I used bad judgment in not seeing a doctor with the first episode, thinking it would just go away.  Well it does go away and cycles and recycles again and again, with the same results.   I am not going through another cycle, and it is at the stage of just returning.  It will get increasingly worse over the next two or three days and then start to subside, leaving my skin feeling like leather, peeling slightly under my eyes.  I have bags under my eyes that I never had before.

I guess sooner or later I'll just get sick of all this and finally get a referral to a dermatologist before I suffer permanent, irreversible damage, if that has not already occurred.

I believe perhaps the ingredient is either salicylic, glycolic, or  lactic acid, which seems to be the hot ingredient in skin care these days.  I've used retinol products in the past without a problem, but I guess we can all develop allergies to anything.  I've also used glycolic acid cleansers in the past without a problem.  Again, allergies can certainly crop up in anything.

Incidentally, I have a friend who used Avon night cream recently who woke up with a face full of pimples, too!

wow, hard to believe that Mary Kay products would cause allergies - sm
when they test on animals!!!! They have voiced to the public that they WILL NOT stop testing on animals.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I am being sarcastic about my subject line. The point I'm trying to make is that Mary Kay tests ALL OF THEIR products NEW AND OLD on animals. Part of their reason was to "prevent allergies in humans" .... rrrrriiiiggghhttt

Tylenol words best for me. Glade products should be banned, the worst.
Tylenol words the best for me, have to take LOTS to ward off headaches that become 17 on a 1-10 scale.

Glade Products are the worst for me. They are to terrible and ought to be outlawed. I cannot be around them AT ALL and have to leave if they are used anywhere, in churches, homes, etc. Apparently some people are not at all sensitive to them, but they ought to know that other people are very horrendously affected. It is all chemical, either you are sensitive or you aren't, and the people who are not just simply are not. But the people who are suffer real pain and so I think no one should use them. Why would you want to expose the people who are sensitive? Just my opinion.
Drastic under bidding for products. Single handedly took out Rubbermaid
after demanding a price reduction that Rubbermaid could not meet and pay for costs. This was after Wal-Mart basically caused Rubbermaid to increase production to meet demands to the point Rubbermaid had grown significantly, all based on its Wal-Mart sales.

There is SO MUCH MORE!!!

When a U.S. based manufacturing company (RCA?) took to court a manufacturer based in China (television) for dumping on the U.S. market a product that was priced so low that it was causing the company to lose millions. They won but when they looked at the court documentation for this China based manufacturer, Wal-Mart was listed as a one of the companies siding with China manufacturer.

In one generation, this type of business could place the U.S. in a precarious situation in many respects. Also, by doing this, in one generation, a new customer base will be created in other countries and these people will be just like the Americans, wanting better for their children.

Anyone ever tried Dual Action Cleanse or any other colon cleansing products? sm
The infomercial was not pretty, and this guy focused way too much on BMs and such, but said that John Wayne died with 42 pounds of undigested material in his colon ... yuck!  Supposedly, you use this product and feel tons of energy and all that ... wondered if it was just more hype or maybe someone had actually tried it.  ?
does anyone know about a 3-limit install on DocShuttle, Wavplayer and other Bytescribe products? sm
they told me after three installs, even if I buy a new computer, I have to buy the program all over again, at $100 a pop. Has anyone else ever been told this? Sounds like a rip off to me.
try eliminating diary products from your diet for 4-5 days and see if it helps. sm
usually it could be something you are ingesting causing it and milk is a #1 problem.
weight
I am hating this cold weather.  I am turning 36 soon and I feel like I am just packing on the pounds and I haven't changed my routine one bit?  I know your metabolism slows as you age, but geez, I am beginning to think it is my profession!  I exercise and watch what I eat, even more so now and still the scale won't budge, it will go up if anything.  I guess I am asking for some advice or tips on what other Transcriptionist do to maintain thier girlish or boyish figure.
I know about the weight training
but thanks for the ice water tip. That's one I haven't heard, but makes sense!
