Sorry...wrong board. I am half asleep here in Calif.

I don't do as they spell either as they are usually wrong - sm
I have not had any complaints as yet. Granted if it is a drug or whatever I cannot verify then I state that on my cover page for that doctor.
I wouldn't spell it wrong.
I would ask for verification of where he is getting Pegesis and note where you are getting your spelling. I constantly have doctors spell *Moh's* procedure and have had to argue with some of them when they insist I spell it wrong.
Mine is "mesentery or is it mesentary". I always spell it wrong and
have been doing Ops for 25 years. I just have a mental block with this one word all of the time. Thank goodness for Stedman's Spellcheck!
As an IC half-time I still use believe it or not...
I loved WP5.1 from the getgo....and still love it and all my private MDs are fine with it - they merely convert the floppy diskette over to whatever program they use. No complaints SO FAR and it's been TEN YEARS!!!! *lol*
Doh! Meant "responsibility" (not responcibility). One of those words I spell wrong every dar
nm
Not MT specific, but try half.com. I buy all kinds of books from there all the time. nm

Yer right... half the time the docs dont even read the reports. (nm)
.
Many things went wrong with current job this week,
such as:
Found out with the new office expansion, some employees will be pushed out of this building and moved across the street! Because of this Mgmt has decided to do away with the paperwork that allows TX to catch many, many errors caused mostly by our dumb software. It also helps us communicate issues between departments. But let's do away with it without any discussion. (duh)
But the good news is that in two weeks I can put in my NOTICE and in one month I start a different job. Yippy! Now I'll miss all that construction dust and annoying problems and the illogical OM with ADD who is driving us all nuts. Oh, and my plan is to find new jobs for all my co-workers! [evil laugh]
Not OP - I wish more grandparents and uncles/aunts would worry about doing things wrong - sm
My in-laws like to play mind games with our kids...which is the cause of a lot of "parental headaches", thus we curtail visits to about once a month, supervised for about 6-8 hours (they live 2 hours away). We plan to never let them have the kids overnight, etc. though DHs mom constants asks....so through guilt my DH is now considering it (which I won't allow so I will be forced to go and stay too which I don't want to do but will) but he wants his brother to stay too as a condition (he's winds the kids up like crazy). So we have 3 winners who love to spoil the kids but don't care about the consequences of their actions after they leave. It has gotten better now the kids are not so nuts anymore after a visit, though grandma and uncle are always saying they want the kids to visit, stay , etc. If they had common sense then I probably wouldn't mind the break (no near relatives) but that is not the case. I just hope I learn enough from them and remember and don't make the same mistakes when I have grandchildren. Yes, my kids love them, and their other grandparents (now just my dad) but you just can't have the attitude we can do what we want because we are the grandparents. Parents have there way of doing things and unless it is harmful to the child should be respected and followed.
I had an ESL spell "sheet" for me. Must've had someone type "sh*t" one time.
xx
Actually it's years to ears. I can spell just fine, just don't take the time to proofread eve
post as I'm busy transcribing at the same time. Sorry to say my priorities are such that you guys here don't rank perfect posts. Now, if you guys want to pay per post....
I'll bring the dip and the half and half ;)
If you don't take the time to find to do things
that give you joy you'll become a bitter old woman and you'll always have regrets that you gave so much of yourself to your job.
My mother died of cancer, she fought it for 17 years, but she was just 50 when she got it and the chemo damaged her heart so that she had no quality of life and she wanted to go to the beach one more time.
My father worked hours and hours, OT and weekends, and neglected his family, not out of financial need - not sure why exactly. He developed Alzheimer's in his early 60s, was not able to enjoy retirement and it didn't matter that he had $100,000 in the bank because he didn't know who he was, didn't know who I was, was in diapers, couldn't feed himself, etc.
Make the time to do what you enjoy, if only for 15 minutes a day. If $$ is an issue, use coupoons, buy off brands, shop yard sales, etc.
You can work until you last breath and they'll still be calling you to help with the backlog. The company doesn't care about you, doesn't care if your children are sick, if your parents are dying, if you are puking your guts out, so why should you kill yourself for the company.
Fun things to do next time you are in an elevator...
Wave hands wildly at invisible flies buzzing around your head.
Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask: "Got enough air in there?"
Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.
Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you "Admiral".
Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce: "I've got new socks on!"
Frown and mutter "gotta go, gotta go" then sigh and say "oops!"
Walk on with a cooler that says "human head" on the side.
Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce "You're one of THEM!" and move to the far corner of the elevator.
Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers that this is your personal space.
I just had to lighten up this board a bit today!!!!
Not really hate..but not enough time for the things that bug me (nm)
Any 62 year old should know by this time how to figure things out
I am older but I do not have to ask others how to get around money out of my husband's money to cover my expenses. Give me a f…ing break! All the time I have read these posts have never seen 1 person trying to be so underhanded. They are not glad to be able to make around $900- they were trying to do something against a company, IRS and anyone else she could. After all that time she comes back to rant some more and call us vipers. I am independent. Last year I sold property for $150,000. I did not pay all my independent taxes like I should but.... I had major expenses such as new computer, property upkeep on the one sold plus those taxes, my property taxes where I live and I made arrangements last year (hey, I was thinking ahead) and set up at least $46,000 in the bank JUST IN CASE I needed for the taxes this year. With all my expenses paid out, did my taxes and got back a little over $600. I did not retire, I did not flame others for what I should do, I used my head before time, not just running out and spending all and had a cushion in case I needed. I am woman, I am strong, I use my head for what it was intended. This is the way things should work, not retiring first, not having enough money, not trying to be sneaky about working and having others taking the credit and pay then paying me under the table, then trying to pull the wool over other's eyes!
Good things take time. (this is addressed to OP, BTW) My first 15 years or sm
so of MT was without the benefit of using an expander. When Expanders became the norm, I was reluctant to try, thinking that it would be more cumbersome than by not using it at all. Was I surprised and pleased I had ventured into the Expander world.
Since you're at home you can add entries on your free time, even if you do 5 or 10 at a time, when there is no pressure on you. Start out with expanders for "the patient," "-year-old," the names of your doctors, anything that is repetitious. You will be surprised how much time this will save you. My initial expander, PRD, actually calculated saved Keystrokes and productivity. Back then I was saving 30%!
The expander is especially helpful for those crazy terms that are hyphenated or have camel caps, those that I always had to look up to check myself. Create your brief form by just using straight lowercase, for instance, duoneb for Duo-Neb (or d-n).
Speed will come, don't worry. Good luck to you!
(Posted in the wrong place--I always do that!) This is in response to OP.
That is definitely wrong! No way does anyone in any job have 100% of their time straight production
x
Bummer. I know those things aren't cheap. Better luck next time!
nm
Thanks for sharing. I also travel A LOT..and the majority of the time things go smooth, but sometime
Last time we went on vacation, I forgot to pack my keyboard that I had just bought for $50 and had to run to Radio Shack and get another cheapo for $30. Then, the hotel internet was AWFUL and kept cutting me off so production was sloooooow..Overall, I just check ahead to see what the hotel offers in terms of internet etc..and I do end up having to pay anywhere from $10-12 a night at hotels but it is worth it so I am not missing work or using all of my PTO time. We're heading to Mexico next year and the hotel has wireless so I think I'll give it a whirl. We have a condo in Hawaii and I have sat out on the lanai all day looking at the ocean and working. It was the highest production I have ever had. The only downfall I have found is trying to remember all fo the time changes so I am starting and stopping when I am scheduled. Hawaii is 5 hours different from home so I had to factor that in. In any event, thanks for sharing and I agree. Vacation can be fun AND productive.. LOL
eternity is a long time to suffer for being wrong.
If you live as if there is no God -- you'd better be right.
Google brings up wrong spellings etc. all the time.
Pick just about any medical equipment and search it spelled different ways; you will likely find them all on Google. To me it is basically useless for MT work because I have to check the books anyway in most cases.
Here's an example of what I find:
Flowseal™, FloSeal®
Both even claiming to be the trademark brand name.
Can't rely on Google.
Or discpline time! My kids would be very sorry if they threw things at me or in the house. Two hours
is not too long for them to give you some space. That's really sad for you, but maybe try to rein them in. Can't hurt, right?
If they don't read their reports how do they know what's wrong with patient next time he sees
Wrong. That is why you have virus protectection and anti-spyware. To protect 100% of the time.
:P
wrong, wrong, wrong. work is being outsourced because of $. period. not because of unqualified MTs
c
I typed a report on the wrong patient as the doc keyed in the wrong info, SM
He later said the correct patient's name and I SWEAR to this day I made the changes but somehow the report when through without the correct patient and changes made. I still remember that incident.
Bad things? what bad things? people's being petty and small?
x
Fantasia wrong??? Haven't seen the OP's CD, couldn't have been too wrong.
x
It's about morality - not censorship! Right is right and wrong is wrong!
nm
1 out of 2, 1/2 looks like one-half
what do you do in this situation?
I have it also and they don't have even half sm
when you are doing angios and MRIs.
Could you do half and half - QA/MT?
Some days I think I'd rather do QA - I have carpal tunnel and I could sit in my recliner and QA because I wouldn't have to be pushing a foot pedal all the time and could use hot keys, and it would be a change of pace. But then I have days at a time, if not weeks, where I have the worst dictators. I rarely have blanks, but I do have them, and I think no way do I want to be stuck listening to every horrible dictator, although my company pays by the hour and a good rate, so it would be nice not to have to worry about working 50+ hours/week so I can pay my bills because I don't have a consistent pay check to try to budget with.
Which half?
nm
they get half pay for retirement too!
Bus drivers are making $63,0000 and that is with no education. you can be a hs dropout or a foreigner. I hate NY and glad I left.
Six of one/half dozen of the other
I have had both over the years (have bought my own insurance since 1989). Neither gave me any grief. Blue Cross was eventually cheaper for me than Mutual of Omaha. The downside to Blue Cross is that if you move out of the area where you bought Blue Cross, say you have Blue Cross of Illinois and want to move to Georgia, you cannot take Blue Cross of Illinois with you, and just because Blue Cross of Illinois accepted you does not mean that the Blue Cross plan in Georgia will accept you when you apply. With Mutual of Omaha, you would not have this problem.
Already checked half.com and they don't have any at all, e-bay only had
edition one cheap, edition 2 more expensive than any other place I've seen.
Yep..try half.com or eBay for used ones. nm

I write off half my DSL
I am sure I use it more like 3/4 time for work, but half to be safe. Tax Cut, from H&R Block, goes through the deductions with you and it is simple.
About an hour and a half if I sit still...
It also depends on how many screens to maneuver before you can type which takes time in between.
I transcribed a 70 min file in an hour and a half the other night but it was one long letter.
It all depends I guess.
half a brain...
Again... I am not trying to win any friends or make any enemies. If you are happy and have no complaints, that is wonderful. I was observing and making comments. Half a brain was not meant as a cut to anyone, simply a figure of speech.
half year mark
My small MTSO is at 22,500 and my part-time job in a clinic is $6200. So should do well this year.
Not sure how to type a liter and a half. Help please sm
The patient was given a liter and ˝ of fluid.
Withholding half your check
I, too, think you should check with an attorney. I see no reason why wording like that would even be included in an IC contract, but if it is, you may not have a legal leg to stand on.
Give your notice, work it, problem solved.
If you bought it new go for half of what you paid or it - sm
If you bought it used then try to get back what you paid for it unless it is not in good shape. If you don't remember what you paid for it, look it up on the internet what it sells for now so you can get an idea what the value is.
Have you thought about trying Half.com or Ebay? I
started with Half.com and just cleared out a bunch of books, videos, etc. They don't charge a listing fee - just a percentage when you sell your items. They stay listed indefinitely, too. From there I went to Ebay. There's a little to learn, but I've done pretty well with that, too. Just an idea. It works pretty good for me.
My husband remodeled half of ...
our basement about 7-8 years ago and made it the family room. Then it became the room that the kids used for their playstation. After awhile, nobody used it for anything anymore. So I cleaned it out when I started working and just this spring I painted it and added my own touches, such as the Beatle's posters that no one else wants to look at. I also added a small TV and DVD player and bookshelf, so I basically have my OWN space, which is cool. I am also treasurer of our church, so I have all that stuff there as well - check book, books, records, etc. It's not a big room, but it's mine and it's my favorite room in the house.
Just half-cent thoughts...
I know this is too long, but wanted to give you a few tips. Sounds like you're one of those employees of medical offices (and many, many types of offices) that isn't set up on clear job descriptions for the workers--and then stick to it. Not all practice managers really know how to run an office efficiently. You have lots of issues here, but just for me curiously, why on earth would you invest in your own equipment (unless you really wanted it anyway) and still be considered an "employee." Do you have other work where you can write off your expenses? In our city (and in many organizations, many MTSOs) there is a hospital that has home workers, but they bring the hospital equipment to the MT's home for them to use. That's how they get to tell you how and when to work. I've worked in offices most of my adult life where people grumble out of habit all the time. You may not be that kind of person, and you may be grumbling in vain or just burned out. It's sad but true that many offices don't have the luxury of being managed properly, nor does anyone have personal knowlege of knowing how to set up a bona fide transcription department. Maybe that's where you could make some changes. Make yourself a "department" not just an employee. Take the lead and define yourself. It's called intrapreneurship--you create your own little venture as an employee but see yourself yourself a "small business owner" in your own mind. You could make up a plan to present a better work option to your employers based on research and projected outcome that this change may benefit all involved. Personally, I don't think you'll get anywhere by taking the defensive line here (though you have set a precedent). However, agression and resistance won't work either. You have to "create" your spot and show how it will profit the greater good proactively. And if you're getting insurance benefits for this home/office pattern you are requested do to keep your job, lady, count your MT blessings. Also, I'll bet many MTs working at home probably wouldn't mind having to "go into the office" on some days. Sure beats the isolation and might make you feel more connected to the real world. Best of luck to you.
500K...as in half a mill???
Geez, luckeee...I'm jealous. Congrats though!
I don't think it would be wise to quit over half a mil
that's not gonna last you a lifetime! I think you should be reasonable. What about health insurance? Are you married? Do you have a lot of debt? There are a lot of factors inolved.
