Company: Store clerk urinated into soda

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

A convenience-store worker has admitted urinating into a soda bottle, causing a customer who drank from it to become violently ill, his bosses say.

Publix Super Markets spokesman Dwaine Stevens said the accused employee, who works at a Pix Convenience Store in Deltona, was suspended after the company learned of the incident this week. An internal investigation is being completed.

Lab tests done by Publix on the contaminated Mountain Dew confirmed the soda contained urine, Stevens said. The supermarket giant owns the Pix chain.

"It is an isolated incident done by one of our associates," Stevens said. "Whatever measure is necessary, it will be executed and the employee will be dealt with."

Publix has not filed a criminal complaint but the option has not been ruled out, Stevens said.

The victim, a foreman with a Daytona Beach construction company, became suspicious of the drink after he chugged the beverage last week, his attorney, Daniel Newlin, said

"He vomited three or four times afterward," said Newlin, who did not release his client's name in order to protect the man's privacy.

Newlin said that upon the advice of an infectious-disease doctor, the victim was being tested for diseases such as gonorrhea and hepatitis C.

"We're hopeful that the person who did this wasn't carrying any sexual, or otherwise, virus that could cause him harm," Newlin said

I'm looking for a good, easy to follow diet,

Throw me some suggestions. I've tried Weight Watchers but always felt like I was starving, so that's out. I tried counting calories but always went over the limit. Anybody with any good ideas?  I need to knock off about 30 pounds.

ok guys, all of this makes easy sense to me but
how do you approach an office and who do you talk to?  how do you make an good impression so that the girls in the office don't just toss out the info as soon as the door closes?  usually they are so busy with other things that passing along this type of info isn't top on their list, especially if they are content with their current process.  is there a website or something that gives examples of proposals or contracts?  I also want to try to get a client of my own but I'm terrified of that first step and how to do it.
Other than Slim Fast has anyone had any luck with OTC diet products or diet pills? nm

Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
try a raw diet
First have your dog's liver enzymes checked, also the pancreas. Someone told me that toxins come out through the dogs ears, especially labs. Then, check into a raw diet for your lab. Believe it or not, chicken wings, chicken necks, or turkey necks - raw - and raw fruits and vegetables (no onions or grapes). My sister's lab has pancreas problems, his ears smelled awful, and the vet was no help. She checked out raw diets and her dog has been doing fine for the past two years. Her lab has the most beautiful white teeth, no smelly ears, very little gas, lost weight, and is happy. As a last resort, try BeanO. (PS, if you want to stick to a kibble food, try Flint River Ranch - that is what I feed my dog).
Okay! So much for my diet! I'm going to try it!
  Sounds yummy!
diet !
Your way sounds a lot more appetitizing than the Healthy Choice dinners I am living on!  SO boring, but I have lost 10 pounds in 10 days!  Only 18 to go!  And I too am walking 2-3 times a day which really seems to help.  Once with the dog (he is pokey!) and then by myself so I can walk fast.
Diet
Funny you asked that because with my medical background, I know that what you eat can have a big influence on how you feel. I also have hypoglycemia so I should be eating well.

I honestly do not have an appetite. I didnt eat anything at all yesterday and the day before I ate 4 chicken nuggets from Wendys.

This morning I feel a little hungry so I will probably eat some rice and black beans. I have that and oatmeal. Its cheap and filling.

I used to eat like crazy... now I don't eat at all. I used to get sick when I felt kind of dizzy from not eating after a few hours. Now I've gotten used to the feeling and having really low blood sugar makes it hard for me to concentrate on one thing but I can't get food stamps because I don't have any kids or anything. All well... Anyway, that's what I've been eating.
Meat in your diet?
That is a misconception that we need meat in our diets, we do not need meat at all, there are many other sources of protein out there to substitute for the meat, please go to the many vegitarian sites for more information.
try a low sodium diet

When I was first diagnosed, I went on a strict 2 gm sodium diet.  It is amazing how much salt is in foods.  My ENT gave me a small booklet I could fit in my pocket to carry around with me to count sodium.  It reduced the amount of fluid in my ears, which lessened the vertigo and the tinnitis.  The shocking part was that I lost 20 pounds without trying!  I never went hungry at all.  I felt better than I had in years.

I have also found that keeping my sinuses clear helps with a lower level of tinnitis.  Wine intensifies it

good luck,

d~

I have never tried the diet, but I know lots who

have, including my DH.  I have never known anyone to keep the weight off once they come off the diet.  While there have been various studies as to healthiness/unhealthiness of the diet, I don't see how eating high fat foods came be healthy.  I do know that the diet throws your body into a ketosis, which gives you terrible breath.  When my DH was on the diet I asked him not to talk while in the car because his breath smelled so bad.  He worked with a woman who said she wondered why people would back away from her when she talked.

I think low carb is a good idea, but I don't think high fat is a good idea.  I'm not a nutritionist, just makes sense.

Diet Board please
nm
How long have you been on the diet?
?
OTC diet pills
My daughter was able to lose about 10 pounds on Dexatrim - that is before they had to change the formula - our best results have been with Atkins for quick weight loss - 7-14 pounds in a week in our family. Lots of meat and cheese - and no cheating.
So does diet soda.
Just kidding
Anyone try Shangri-La Diet sm
Just wondering if anyone has heard of or tried the Shangri-La Diet..  and if so what did they think about it?   Did you lose any weight?   Just curious, need to lose that 20 pounds.. or so...
Anybody out there taken any of the new diet pills with
Just curious if any of these work or if they are a scam like most others.  If anyone has taken any pills that work let me know.   (I know they are not good for you)
Liquid Diet
My brother-in-law lost a lot of weight doing a liquid diet (not sure for how long, though), but he gained most of his weight back.
yeah, know that...this diet was only for four days...
no salt, etc. but it works.  Called the "four day wonder diet."  Could not, would not do this for more than that! Yukky, no flavor. But it kicks in the fat burning thing...  Thanks for your support....Back to some "tasty" "live-it" foods!  :)
cofee....diet pepsi...

Smash the Fat ... aka Take-Control Diet sm

The name of his book is Take-Control Diet, and there is a sample menu on the VH1 site that lists chicken breasts and sirloin, so ...... not too scary

MEET ON DIET BOARD???!!!
This is excited to hear so many on and starting out with this diet.  I am starting a thread on the diet board so we can keep track of progress!!!  This will be great support!!!
South Beach Diet
I have had this same problem! I gain too much weight with each pregnancy, then when I finally get it off I have ended up prego again. HA. Well, it won't happen that way again. Anyhow, I did the South Beach Diet between my last 2 kids and lost 54 pounds in just a couple of months (a little over 4). I actually lost my weight in this area first. I am just starting it up again for the same reason, and because I know it works--I have done it before. The first 2 weeks are kind of hard to stick to (at least for me as all my teeth are sweet teeth), but it goes by fast actually and you won't believe when you step on the scale and each day your weight is down and you drop clothing sizes. Just typing this is enough motivation again for me to do it. I didn't exercise the last time and the weight just melted off, so I don't know about any exercises. Good luck to you! :)
South Beach Diet
When I did it the last time they only had the blue book out, now they have cookbooks too and the foods at the store so it will be even easier to stick to. I just bought a treadmill and am sad to say after 15 minutes I am dying! HA.

I have even seen the South Beach books on ebay for cheap. :)
Anyone tried the Nourish Nutrisystem diet? sm
If so how fast did you lose? Were the foods good?  Were you hungry?  I am leaning towards this program.  The pictures I have seen are GREAT!  The food looks good and you get to pick and choose what you want.  It is costly but if it works it would be well worth it....thanks!
South Beach Diet sm
beel ala orange with brown rice and broccoli, carrots, and bamboo shoots...only thing is, they forgot the brown rice...I am still hungry. yarrr.
Doctor's Choice Diet
Anyone been on this diet?  I called and they said it is a diet plan and some kind of a hormone shot that you have to get once a week.  Sounds scary to me.
diabetic diet question
Can someone please send me an 2000 calorie ADA diabetic diet?  I have searched and cannot find just a diabetic diet.  We just found out that my hubby has to start taking insulin.
If you would try the Sugar Buster diet you'd

be surprised at the energy you will have.   You'll notice a difference in about 3 days.  I'm fixing to start it again because while I get up fine in the morning, after about 2 hours I hit a wall and it takes me about 2 hours to get past it where I can work again.   The only problem is I still have 2 hours left in my morning shift when I hit that wall so need to be working.

Anyway the diet will give you lots of energy - similar to being on energy drinks, it will be healthier for you and if you need to lose a few pounds you can do that too.

Have you thought of liquid diet? - sm
I found a great site a few years ago, liquiddietdiscussion.com and they sell something similar to Optifast though it tastes a million times better and is cheaper. I have done NS too. I have about a 2 month supply of both right now, and think I may do a liquid diet for months then transition to the Nutri-Systems for return to real food part and to train myself how to eat right. I have about 70 pounds to lose too to get down to my proper weight, though some of it may be from a medical problem (waiting on blood work now, will know on Friday), but figure in order to get a quick result a liquid diet for 1 to 2 months should give me the jumpstart I need and hack off at least 40 pounds in 2 months if not more. Check it out and discuss it with you doctor. Good luck.
Liquid diet for 1 to 2 months?!
I don't think I could do it for 1 to 2 days, let alone that long?!
Diet doesn't have to be a four letter word.
You can jazz up everything you mentioned.  Put a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg into your applesauce, put some spices on the hamburger like garlic, onion powder, or Emeril Zest, and even a dash of Tabasco or some other spices in your tomato juice.  I like to throw a piece of celery, a colossal green olive, and a few pepperoncini into mine.  Some people aren't into hot and spicy, but spices are zero to low calories.  Hot and spicy is very good for you with vitamins, antioxidants, etc.  Studies have proven that people who eat hot peppers with their meals consume 150 fewer calories per meal.  Eating naturally (AKA dieting) doesn't have to be bland.
they do not work - try a sensible diet, exercise and then go in for liposuction - sm
best thing I ever ever ever did. I wear a perfect size 2 now with a flat tummy! Was a size 8!
I especially agree with taking ALL sugar out of your diet.

My new diet (and fridge cleaning) plan
It is getting more and more difficult for me to make myself leave the house (even though I am so sick of being here) that my fridge and cupboards do end up pretty bare. - I was thinking earlier today, I could start the "I can't get my butt to the store, so my butt is getting small" diet. : )
Easy easy money they are!

I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all.  Same for H&Ps.  They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time.  Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!

My best advice for arthritis. Take sugar out of your diet. You will not believe the difference it

Jodi Lebodi ... did you ever find anything about the Smash diet? sm

I thought it was the same as the Take Control Diet book Dr. Smith had out, but apparently no ... a totally new book is coming out.

I'm tired of waiting ... dug out an old copy of the Scarsdale Diet ... look out Chastity and Kelly ... I may beat you!  lol

Tonight ... it says Jeff checks into rehab ... good thing ... poor guy.

Atkins Diet - Has anyone stayed on this program for the long run?
I've tried it a couple of times, did well, lost weight, but never really got going with the maintenance program.  Has anyone done so?  If so, I would appreciate any advice, hints, etc.  Thanks!!
Leaving MQ
A friend of mine left MQ and went back into a hospital setting.  She went from barely making 1200 lines a day to over 2000 a day (8 hours).  She also went from statuatory with no benefits to all the perks of being in-house including insurance, vacation, 401K, paid holidays, etc.  She was also offered after training the opportunity to work from her home which she took.  She is so happy.

Hi Romey, you're not alone. I've done this for 20 years and I find I can't even look at it anymore because of some of the things that have happened in the field. Don't know what to tell you to do because I'm searching too. I should have listened to my common sense a long time ago.
Please consider leaving
Your local police department can give you information on shelters or organization that can put you and your kids in a safe place until you get on your feet. If he is abusing you, you must also consider calling the police on him so the abuse is documented. I'm sure you know of the fatalities that happen everyday due to domestic abuse. Please take action. If he is abusing your children and someone else finds out about it and reports your husband, they can arrest you as well for having knowledge of the fact that your kids are being abused and doing nothing about it.

My heart goes out to you. I have a background in counseling and had sessions with women for years who were being abused. It frustrated me to see these women twice a month for counseling because all they wanted to do was talk about how their spouse continued to abuse them but they wouldn't do anything about it. Your kids will always remember what they are going through. This type of environment often scars children emotionally as well as physically. They can grow up to have major psychological issues as a result.

Life is too short to be miserable everyday. He is not accentuating your life in any way. He is taking from you in every way possible. I beg you to give serious thought to removing yourself from this situation. I know it may feel like you are jumping without a parachute but think of it this way...how much worse could it get? Things can only get better.

Take care.
leaving
Yep, I left. It was NOT easy.  Some days i did not think I was gonna make it -- but you know what?  I left a big farmhouse and live in a small 2-bedroom apartment.  But it is near everything - the library, the school, etc. At first my daughter threw a fit......and my son cried.  But a month later...everybody is much much happier.  Now, when I walk out of my peaceful car to my peaceful door and lay on my rent-a-center peaceful couch -- I think.....God...where is the screaming?  How did I stand it that long?  No one is mad around here?  And my children are adapting perfectly.  And I walk in my room, take off my clothes, lay on my bed and grab a book and read...and it is pure joy.  Worth every tear.  You'll see.  All of us..all of us -- we want you to have the peace that you need and that your babies will thrive with.  It's tough..but you are gonna make it.

Leaving MT

Fellow MTs, I am leaving our once-esteemed position.  I am taking a position as a trainer at a large national insurance company.   More money than I've ever made, lots of paid time off plus holidays, and weekends off.   It's been 10 years since I've had a "real job" and had not had to work weekends and holidays.

They are playing for my airline tickets, my accommodations, food and car while stationed away from home.  I am one lucky duck.

I used to love doing MT, but it has been a challenge for me the past 2-3 years to stay focused.   To all of you who still love the job, I say hurray!    This is a blessing for me to make this move at this point in my life and I'm very grateful.  I intend to enjoy every moment of it.

Bye, all!

Leaving MT
Congratulations on your new job!  There is a time and a season to everything in life, and this is your season for change.  God bless you.
Leaving MT

You know what?  I just cannot do this anymore.  My last day was 12/31/06.  I am moving in a different direction--not sure what all yet, but I just cannot transcribe any more.  After 17 years of listening to doctors chew, and waiting--listening to silence--with my pay rate DROPPING over the years  , not increasing--I have to leave.

There's only a tiny, tiny part of me that feels sad--it's the part of me that was so overjoyed to be able to do this at home and be here when my children were little.  I really thought I would keep doing this forever. Recently, though, I just cannot do it anymore!  One day I woke up and had had enough!

I am working on some things here at home that I had going.  Some home businesses, things I make, etc.

I just wanted to say BYE.

Lynn

I wish you the best.  I know how you feel.  After more than 20 years I too will be leaving transcription. Transcription is just not what it used to be.
