I'm sick of hanging on by my fingernails hoping things will get better.
Every day for the last 4 years my income has diminished. As long as
men have their fingers in any particular industry, you can bet you will starve
doing work for them. They suck the $$ out of it and then leave whatever profession
they were into, devastated and in shambled.
They have done it to drugs for our health, our hospitals, our medical field of doctors and nurses, and now they have done it to transcription.
I just wish one day I could meet one of these guys face to face. Better yet I'd like to have a conversation with him when finally one of his loved ones has to use this devastated system they have brought down to nothing.
Now our ERs are overloaded and closing. Medical care is getting to be nonexistant. Hospitals barely let you stay long enough to get the IV in your arm, and then they are wheeling you out the door comatose but they have to follow the guidelines which means no longer than X number of hours per stay!!!! Well, hell's bells, why did I go to the hospital in the first place - I could have stuck a needle in my arm at home and not been shuttled around in the heat and car -
PROFIT.....I think America needs to rethink capitalism - it has begun to have an aroma about it.

If you are that slow, why don't you stop in some local doctor's offices, pt, chiropractic, etc
do their backlog? That has always kept me extremely busy.

I have a Dell, but everytime I have to talk to India, they always make the problem worse, and I have had to pay 50 bucks for them not to be able to fix it.
It's not necessarily all good. India has invaded Canada in the MT business.
They set up shop and solicit business in the US claiming to be "Canadian". I've been solicited by several different people over the years trying to horn in on my business.

  Our country sucks when it comes to teamwork. My experience is in hospital transcription and 95% foreign dictators. Most of my dictators are from India and surrounding countries. Give up you all,  India is already way ahead of us!

I just don't want to lose my mother in the process. I put myself in her shoes. What would I do if my husband of 15 years was making advances at my daughter? I don't want to get too graphic with some of the things he's said, but definite harrassment. If I brought things to light, it would put her in an awful position, so I thought I could get it off my chest by telling another family member. We don't exactly have a warm loving relationship as it is, so this would be like the last nail in the coffin. I just want it to go away, so I stay away, but the guilt is awful.

If you have not made use of an item in a year and it is easily replaced, donate the item (if it is in good condition) to charity.
Irreplaceable, important, legal papers go into the safe deposit box. Keep a fire proof box with cash in it at home along with a disaster bag. Pay off credit cards and put cards in the safe deposit box. Keep the accounts open if needed for an emergency.

You cannot compare yourself to the people on this board. Do you mean you have only been doing transcription for eight months? If so, you're doing fine!! Eight months is not a lot of time. The speed with come with the experience. Just keep at it and use those auto keys! Give yourself another eight months, and you will be getting a little faster!! Good luck and let us know how you're doing in eight months!! :)

one way to stop it, is to let the sm
answering machine or voice mail pick up the call. Lots of folks do that. If you have caller ID especially, you don't have to deal with it. If they can't reach you, they can't ask you.

not sure, but if you were on the national do not call list maybe this would help?? since you do not know where they got your name from it might help. I am on that list and have not received any calls solicitating, selling, etc. thought this might help.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. We might as well face it, this industry is going to the birds. I have lost four Docs because of outsourcing to India. It is a shame that the Docs have to find a cheap way out because of all the overhead, malpractice, etc. that they have to pay. I have been in this for four years and I thank God that I have 12 years doing medical billing, for which I am going back to school to do coding. There is no job security in this industry, you are treated like dirt, you do not get paid on time and not treated like an employee should be and now EMR. What is next? Robots to do patient care? Good luck to you, but I feel this is just a little wakening up call to all of us that things are changing and not for the good.

Most of these people, at least at a company I worked for, work 2 shifts every day - company paid for them to get their CMT.

One of the reasons there is still such poverty there is that India still has the caste system. While becoming more westernized has improved the quality of living for the majority of Indians, those in the lower caste are not allowed the same opportunities. They live in squalor without running water, food, education, etc.

This is very disgusting! How are we to compete with $500 a year. If India is so great why is it that they hire Americans to edit this crap all the time??? These companies do not understand you get what you pay for just like everything else in life. It's all about saving the allmighty buck. This is exactly why I and I'm sure others out there do not work for any company who offshores!!

Please tell me they are not only undercutting us in pricing, but they are also getting a break on the CMT exam? I am "saving up" to take it! – see below from MT India

I agree, the India thing may be part of some of the problems I have noticed lately. Things are in a bit of an upheaval. Certain accounts that were said to have been largely off-shored now seem to be back here and always going out of TAT. The one I'm working on now is like that, and I wish it would stay here because I like it a lot.

 What I can't figure out, if WE can't understand the lot of them, how did they ever get through the recruiting/hiring interview and application process, and how to they communicate with their peers and patients? Via interpreter??

There were fires in California. There was a hurricane in Texas. I am quite sure these two disasters did not spare places where medical records are kept.

If this were an Indian MT, all they'd have to do is send it to their several layers of QA. This is likely an Indian QA person who has nobody else to ask.
