The stress of the job keeps me biting my nails. No nails here! nm

Shorthand users: When I need to transcribe in all caps and use my caps lock key my abbreviations.sm
are only lower case.  Is there anyway I can use get my abbreviations to expand in upper case?  The only way I can do it now is by holding down my shift key.  Thanks for any help you can offer.
Santa paws - I love that! Thank you.

How soft is the touch, is it a muffled sound (microsoft used to make a very soft touch keyboard.
You can't buy it anymore and I hate the clacky ones. I think a really soft one sounds muffled when you hit the key. Thanks
How do I put the goggle icon on
my taskbar so I can just hit it and bring up goggle when I am in a report?
Do a goggle search
I just did a goggle search and then up came an insurance  page, put in zip code and up came what was available in my area.  I also contacted several insurance brokers to see if they could provide cheaper rates and went to individual web pages of insurance company.   Just like car insurance, gotta search it out.   Expect to pay with 500 deductible or so about $350 to $400 for individual and more with kids.  Good luck.  I went higher deductible as the docs I type for provide me with free care for minor things like flu, sutures, etc. as well as antibiotics, etc.
That is because they are rubber membrane keyboards
They are cheap to manufacture and the rubber wears out.  You get what you pay for.  Mechanical keys last a long time and they have a clicky sound and tactile feedback but they are expensive.   People love the quietness of the membrane boards but with that comes with the fact they wear out so quickly.  They are a like a rubber sponge.
stick-on rubber discs. nm

Thanks for the ideas. Someone really should create a foam rubber keyboard!

Glue ons
They came off in less than a week.
Glue Swabs
What a great idea! Hope she wins, she got my vote.
Glue traps.
We live out in the woods, so we have the Orkin man come once a month to keep all the critters outside where they belong! He sets glue traps for spiders and mice, although we have never had a problem with mice, spiders are another story!
How about a bead of glue....be careful though!! nm

CRAZY - GLUE works for me! ;D

frosted jars with tissue paper and glue..
like we did in kindegarten class. You could use white tissue paper, watered down glue and a clear sealer. I can't say that I have tried this technique on plastic. Hope this helps.
NAILS??????? ROFL

Also, keep nails trimmed....nm

long nails
I have had long nails for so long that I cannot type without them. I type using the pads of my fingers, not the tips. The funny thing is when I take the nails off, then subconsciously I try to type with the tips and it drives me nuts. You go figure.
Is that like hair and nails?
I was trying to figure out what aesthetics is and it looks like cosmetology or doing hair and nails. Is that right?
I finally have nice nails.
My nails are about 1/4" long. They're real and I keep them painted. I can't do the huge long fake claw nails.
I've tried typing with nails
It slowed me down, too.  I felt like a cat with a piece of tape stuck on my finger .  And what a drag that is, because I really love the look of a new French manicure
Everytime I think of getting tips on my nails...
I think about what it would be like trying to type with them.
Question regarding long nails. (sm)

I just got nails put on last week and am having a difficult time getting used to them.  If you have long nails, do you type with the tips of your nails or your fingertips?  My nails are not very long at all, but it seems like they are hitting the wrong keys and I'm constantly having to back up and fix mistakes plus my wrist is starting to hurt.

Any ideas besides removing them?  I'd like to give it a little more time to see if I can adjust.

Thanks.

I know if my nails are too long it slows me
.
Maybe use those "diamonds" they put on manicured nails......nm

its separate from hair and nails
is around 40k a year.  Thats the highest ive made as an MT.  You need a license, go through state board, and there are several schools throughout the US.  Just do a search on "aesthetic or esthetic schools"
This keyboard good if you have long nails....sm
I'm a former typing teacher. I used to use an ergonomic keyboard because I had the fake fingernails. It is actually easier to type on this kind of keyboard with longer nails. Now that I am back to biting them down to bits of nothing, I use a regular keyboard again. You can get used to it pretty quickly if you keep at it, though.
So what part of your fingers or nails hit the keyboard? sm
the nails or do you flatten out your hand so your fingertips hit the keys?  This is very strange to me and I just can't get the hang of it.  My production is going downnnnnn
I tried it on my toe nails. It was easy to use and lasted over a week.

my dad swallowed 2 nails while working and had to have an EGD to remove them. nm

$5 for the pizza guy and $10 for a haircut and a pedicure. If nails too, tip more. Highlights, tip m
tip at least $10 when I eat out. I tell you one thing though, my pizza place always gets exactly what I order to me. If they didn't, I wouldn't tip as good. If I didn't get good service somewhere though, I would go some place else.
I'm with you guys. Typing teacher used to make us keep nails short. nm

All kinds of cool stuff gets under the nails. Ask forensic scientists.
on workers who have direct patient care - they must have their own nails.
Lots of cases where babies in NICU got sick from the nurse's nails. nt

Soft
Some of the type that fit into your ears are really soft and squishy and pretty comfortable. I use some of those with good success. They had a bigger end that would rest outside the ear, but I got rid of that by cutting them in half (horizontally). Only about 1/3 of an inch is left.

Even amongst that type of plugs, some are squishier than others. You might have to try a couple to find ones you like.

They can get kind of grubby looking, but I just wash them with soap and water and give them a day or so to dry. Usually at least a few pair come in a package.

P.S. You could resort to the ole broomstick on the ceiling message. : )
caps
We're told that if the word replaces a person's name, such as the word Mom replaces the mom's actual name, then it should be capped. Wouldn't this then be true for a department name replacing a doctor's name? Or am I just confusing things more?
Caps after #
Mine hasn't done this for years in in word??? I've never found anything that corrects this.
all caps
After I have typed a word, is there a way to highlight it and convert it to all caps?
all caps
When I hit shift and F3, it capitalizes the first letter in the last word I typed.  Mine must be a different version.  However, I read an old thread that told how to change case in tools on the tool bar.
all caps
SUPER!!  Thanks.
all caps or not?
Forgot to ask how it should be typed (cva or CVA) in the sentence above....cva region.  Thanks
All caps, CVA. nm

Soft Script
You know I have only been with Soft Script for about a month and I am really beginning to wonder why they will not explain line counts and how they come up with them one day their website shows 138 lines for me and my line counter program shows 245 what is up with this?  Anyone else out there feel the same?  Or you ask a question and the The BIG HEAD WOMAN rips your face off.
Soft Script
When I first started 4 months ago with SS I thought it was great but now I am seeing the light shed on some of what people are talking about on this message board.  I wish I had been a little more patient and research this company before accepting their offer, I may have missed out on a good job opportunity as I turned down another offer and went with SoftScript but I guess I will never know.  If nothing else my experience with them has been a lessen well learned.  PLEASE, look at the numbers, compare the number of people on this board that oppose to those that agree with SoftScript and it will tell you the real truth, the numbers do not lie and as far as the line counts go let me add this....I work for two companies.  A small company  I have been employed with for the past 7 years and SoftScript  I have been employed with for the past 4 months.  On the same day with the small company for approximately 4 hours work I transcribed 61 reports with 1200 lines very easily with minimal effort, with SoftScript (now remember this is on the same day) for approximately 8 hours,  working as hard as I could I transcribed over 100 reports with under 900 lines.  This tells me something is definitely wrong with the line counting.  Needless to say I am turning in my notice to SoftScript and seeking new employment.
Soft belly (sm)
What I'm saying is the doc feels around for position sometimes and that's probably why he said soft. Contractions make it hard, oh, and also huge babies, like mine. Ouch!!
Soft abdomen
On abd. exam, they're checking the actual abdomen, not the uterus and whether it's contracting or not.

As in a non-gravid exam, the abdomen can be soft, rigid, with guarding, rebound, etc. They're looking for the abdominal signs, not the uterine signs.

So - your abdomen can be soft, and you could be in the middle of a whopper contraction!
Soft Script
Could you folks talk about Soft Script, good or not so good, as best you can.  Thanks in advance.
soft talkers
Not meaning to be sexist, but the soft talkers are usually women, sometimes almost whispering like they are trying to be extra confidential or something.  I can max out my volume but still strain to hear them.
I buy it and use it and it is all caps on the package. nm
:
Oh, get over it. The caps on -- that's what was funny!
Still is!

Of course your question was serious. I don't have any info on that company.

I was just trying to give you a little hint about "yelling"!

Per AAMT BOS, don't have to use all caps SM
or mixed case for brand names, just the beginning cap is enough.
