Gloria, do not speak for me. I never said I wanted bennies, and other perks a corporate executive e

I simply want an MT job where I am fairly compensated for the work I do. I never asked for or expected the bennies and perks...just a fair wage with a good company. The only other thing I would like to hear from you is the name of your company so I can STAY AWAY FROM IT!

Has anyone been able to speak with Corporate to see if they plan to look into Amherst. Did anyone
get any satisfaction.
Meanwhile, the AAMT officers et al are sunning on Waikiki as we speak..on the corporate charge card.

For anyone that is interested the HR person at Corporate is Donna Jack at ext. 4905 at the corporate
800 number. I suppose we can discuss with her or leave a message regarding this situation in Amherst and hopefully she can directed the problem to someone down there. Enough is enough of this now.
As far as I know, yes it sure does. Perks me RIGHT up. NM
x
Yeah, but getting to be a stay-at-home mom is just one of the perks.
I would gladly have done this had I known about it when my children were little in order to get to stay at home with them.
Executive
I love those guys. They have saved me more times than I could tell you. Everything arrives on time, is what I ordered and at a good price too. Tom is wonderful if you every have problems he will find an answer for you. I buy stethescope headphones from them for one of my accounts and especially like the metal ones because they are very sensitive and pick up a lot that other ones miss. I also like the really good Dictaphone ones I buy from them for my C-phones. Give them a try and I bet you will be happy!
I suggest if you are looking for perks where you work and poster thinks
you should get free stuff from where you work, you might want to forget working at the bowling alley and take a job at a car dealership. Set your sights higher than free bowling. LOL.
executive body scan???
Could this be correct?  Outcoming being discovery of gallstones.
Yes, I'm a SHE (sidetracked home executive).

Gloria, it can be done--I did it!

As a medical secretary of 10 years, I moved from Massachusetts to central Maine and found a dirty surprise waiting for me....absolutely NO work, not even as a cashier!

I scoured the paper every week looking for something, anything, and then I found an ad for a local transcription company that was actively hiring transcriptionists.  I had done odd typing jobs in all the doctor's offices (multiple specialties, so that helped me), just letters and SOAP notes, but certainly not a ton of them, but I had nothing to lose, so I sent in my resume and scored an interview.  They set me down at a PC and Dictaphone and gave me a typing test, and I didn't do all that bad at all.  They said they were willing to train me if I was willing to sit down with an AAMT book and learn all that I could, and you bet your bippie that is just what I did!  After about 2 weeks of training, the company owner handed me a little book called "Medical Abbreviations" and said "Let's get you started working at home."  My jaw dropped and I said, "You mean your actually going to hire me?!"  She laughed and said I was hired two weeks ago!  I could've hugged her I was so happy.

My husband and I were flat broke, eating ramen noodles, and buying home heating oil a few gallons at a time down at the local gas station.  We were in a sad, sad state.  I have never been so grateful for a chance in my life.

Companies like that are rare, but they are out there, and if you are willing to learn, admit to mistakes, fix them and learn from them, you can do it!  This sounds gay, but "I'm living proof!"

Best of luck OP!

Gloria
Who hurt you so much that your post are consistently filled wth ANGER, DISDAIN, and WRATH. Do you have anything positive to say?
Yes, that's what we make, executive wages....finally...
somone gives it a label...10 cpl = executive wages. I'm going to go out right now and order my first boat on my 10 cpl and book a trip around the world....yep, cause I make EXECUTIVE WAGES. And with all that is left over I am going to feed the starving children around the world, then, with my executive wages, I am going to start a homeless shelter right here in my hometown, then, with what is left over from my executive wages, I'll have no problem paying for my son's college education, heck, I make EXECUTIVE WAGES....wooo-hoooooooooo, Saks Fifth Avenue here I come!!!!! HAHAHA...just kidding, couldn't resist...lighten up!
I purchase my foot pedal from Executive
Lovely company.  I got it quick, and they were great.  I would ecommend Executive as well.
Give it up......Gloria
I do not believe you have the
mental stability to be dealing with such an emotionally charged issue as giving an MT a fair wage, or the public. If you cannot make a living as an MTSO do all your MTs a favor and get out of the business.
Gloria, you have had your say and everyone has heard you...now will you please go away? I for one w

Hey Gloria - you go girl!!

Check out Executive Communications. Typically, their products are more

Gloria Gaynor's I WILL SURVIVE comes to mind...
Good Luck to both!  Just an aside, that song was out when I was going through a separation/divorce, was my theme song!
bennies
Yep, Ax has great bennies.  DSG and Precyse have good benefits.  You probably won't find many companies who can match the price on those bennies at Ax though.

The account I was on did not have ESLs.  I just didn't like their platform.  It was slow.  Too, I didn't like to having to fill in demographic info, which was part of the account I was on.  Things may have changed, though, since I left.

Does Keystrokes offer bennies or are you an IC? Thank you again for your help and Merry Christmas to all!

Combined Companies Create Premier Outsourced Transcription Provider Heartland Information Services has merged with Spryance, Inc., forming one of the premier offshore transcription providers in the United States. Spryance shareholders will fund the purchase of Heartland Information Services from HCR ManorCare. The new combined company will be marketed under the Heartland Information Services brand.

Headquartered in Boston, Spryance provides transcription service to more than 175 hospitals and clinics across the country, utilizing 1,200 MTs in India. Heartland’s corporate headquarters is located in Toledo, Ohio, with work centers in Bangalore and Delhi, India. By combining companies, the new Heartland will have over 2,500 medical transcriptionists providing service to over 200 hospital and clinical customers.

Dennis Paulik, General Manager of Heartland, will become the President and CEO of the new combined company. Raj Malhotra, CEO of Spryance, will become Chairman of the Board of the combined companies. “The Spryance investors, led by Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company and International Finance Corporation, provide the financial strength and resources for the new Heartland to grow rapidly,” adds Mr. Malhotra, Heartland Information Services Chairman of the Board.

American Association for Medical Transcription, in association with Prometric, announced the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) credentialing exam – a newly developed global ‘level-1’ credential in the arena of Medical Transcription. This program is aimed at helping the existing talent pool to scale up and meet the global standards and quality benchmarks. THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS ALSO ANNOUNCED A SPECIAL 'INDIA PRICE' FOR AAMT'S EXISTING CERTIFIED MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST (CMT) EXAM (emphasis mine).

Medical Transcription is a booming industry with exponential growth prospects and opportunities for committed players. While globally the industry potential is around USD 30-33 billion, in India it is around USD 300 million. Currently, there are around 18,000 medical practitioners in the country and this is expected to almost double within the next 2-3 years.
Can SE's get bennies? I didn't think they could?!
That would be great!!
Thanks for your response, Bennies ...sm
rflmao! Okay, I did ask for your "dream job". How about if you get some of the above but not all. I too would have loved all of those bennies - but I'd settle for a few. Keep dreaming and let me know what is important. I will try to get a consensus of what is the most requested and see if it is at all possible. My contact has had a lot of interest in American transcriptionists, hooray! Now if they are only ready to pay a fair wage! We shall see. Thanks again!
I am an employee. I just found out that the new bennies sm
are better than ever including PTO and sick time, a vesting schedule for 401K match and two floating holidays. I have the insurance, which is good but expensive. I wish we had dental, but I am not sure if that is part of the new plan.

My neighbor also works for Keystrokes but as an IC. I think her rate of pay is higher but she does not need benefits as her husband has government benefits.
Provided bennies were identical?
;lkj
of course they speak english, with an accent but they speak British-English quite well.
And I can't speak Indian so I guess they have an edge don't they?
part time now makes 50K + bennies...sm
My friend just graduated 2 years ago with a BSN, is working 3-11 shift 32 hours per week, Med-Surg oncology has incredible benefits (any benefits are appealing to those of us who are self-employed) and is pulling in over $50K a year. She makes close to $35 an hour and this is at a small community hospital, not in Chicago.
Why not work fulltime at home for a hospital with bennies?
Or look into the state children's medical program. Check into foodstamps and utility assistance while you're at it. The states also usually have a program to enforce child support, which can't be arbitrarily reduced if someone just decides to be self-employed and hide their income one day.

As for the savings and retirement, relax, you'll get there. As for life insurance, you can get a term or universal policy cheap. I can relate about the job situation. I'm teetering on bankruptcy myself now because I lost my steady job in October and have had two other jobs with no work or lousy platforms since then. I keep waiting for the utility companies to shut everything off because I can't pay.

We'll survive. I can't wait for tax refund time myself. You'll survive, too. You can do this. The best part is that you can do this without his help, and your kids will love and respect you for being the responsible parent.
Maybe my thinking is off here but . . do if I was covered under my husband's bennies program I&#
I like working at home too much I guess - not really in a rut, just very, very comfy here and like being my own boss all day long. JMHO.
QA, $3000/mo hourly so get some overtime too, bennies paid, no complaints. nm
x
You missed my point. My point wasn't perks but prestige...nm
nm
A few years ago, Atlanta in-house average was about $12-$15/hour, plus good bennies. nm

By the way, as of about 5 years ago, Wellstar was with a service.  They might not even have in-house MTs.  Hope so for  your sake :).

Sorry, this is MQ corporate.
:
Corporate has been contacted. The more the better.

coming from corporate
corporate requiring 12,000 lines/pay on avg or you will be dropped to SE status
It's Corporate, not Corparate.
That is elementary my dear.
Corporate Lessons.

Lesson 1:

When the human body was first made, all the parts wanted to be " The Boss."

The brain said, " I should be Boss because I control the whole body's responses and functions."

The feet said, " We should be Boss as we carry the brain about and get him to where he wants to go."

The hands said, " We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all the money."

And so it went on and on with the heart, the lungs and the eyes until finally the asshole spoke up.

All the parts laughed at the idea of the asshole being the Boss. So the asshole went on strike, blocked itself up and refused to work.

Within a short time the eyes became crossed, the hands clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic and the brain fevered.

Eventually they all decided that the asshole should be the Boss, so the motion was passed.

All the other parts did all the work while The Boss just sat and passed out the shit!

Moral: You don't need brains to be a Boss - any asshole will do.

Lesson 2:

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."

Bull : "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings? They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

----------------------------------------

Lesson 3:

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.

A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him,"Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"

The crow answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up. !!!

Corporate Lessons

Sorry forgot this one!!!

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold; the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it.
As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was.
The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

The morals of this story are:
1) Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3) And when you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut

LOL I don't know. I do know they transferred their corporate
helpdesk back to the U.S. because it comprises 90% of their sales. I think it was 90%. The home users have to put up with the offshores tech support. I bought a Dell, too, because I figured I could do my own tech support without buying anything extra or calling them. Shoot, $300 for a computer and printer. They had to have lost money on that deal, right? I don't know if that was right or wrong of me if I'm against offshoring, but I really needed a new computer.

Anyway, you might try Dell's online knowledge base to search for the answers to your issues. Do you think you'd be able to fix it yourself with detailed instructions? What kind of problem are you having? Maybe I can help.
I can hear it now in corporate...

Hey, did you guys hear about the Big Virus? Wait a minute - we could USE this! Yeah, thats it - the Big Virus ate up your work! Yeah, that's IT! That's what we'll tell 'em!

Well going up against corporate suits
is not such a simple thing.

As soon as the suits was $$ in transcription they descended on the trade and scarfed up a huge chunk of the work. That would be fine if the end result was fair pay and an improved product, but really it equates to some fat cat CEO reaping the benefits while the worker bees, well, work.

Solutions? Here's the hard truth: How many people are willing to walk away from jobs that pay (at least most) of the bills?

Not saying there isn't power in numbers BECAUSE THERE IS! but getting large numbers of people willing to walk the walk at the same time is not easy... just look at how easy it was for our government to ignore millions of patriots protesting this fake war (we knew it all along)...

Suggestions?

wanted to try it but wanted to make sure

Anyone know Frank's email at corporate?
I need to tell him a few things.
In response to the corporate minded
It's more like they are endeavoring to make up for their greedy management oriented mistakes of the past. The MTs are who make the money for the company as you seem to forget, when they are gone, there will be no company. The mass exodus has only begun.
its called corporate America

PC engineering, phone operators, telemarketers, anything you can telecommunicate is being offshored.  Its a very unbalanced economy right now.  Rich are richer, and there is less consumption as a whole by the middle class as we get poorer, notice how prices are rising?  Its more expensive to live here than anywhere and the wages are steadily dropping.  My mother had a great idea of collecting credit cards, since she gets a few of them a year, cashing out and moving to Mexico.

Husband is a corporate attorney
He makes more than I do - obviously.
