Glad to hear it's not just me!
Maybe we should start a support group for people like us :)
Glad to hear that it is not (SM)
a clot. As I was reading your post and "pedal edema," it made me think of how my right ankle hurts at night from all the pedal pushing during the day!! It is truly a case of pedal edema for us folks!!
Seriously though, I hope you get totally better.
So glad to hear you say that
I had answered a post because the poster said really hard to work from home and she did not know about, I guess, about taking things off on taxes such as part of the electricity, gas bills and I was just stating what I do and how I try to cut down on my bills so as to not overspend. I, like you, have never ever had anyone to think I have a bon-bon job at home. I think when you let people take advantage of you, they will. Expecting a phone call the other day that was important, caught it only to have a sales pitch. I told the person working, sorry and he said well I will only take a few minutes of your time. Then I said, no you won't- told you I was working and hung up. It sure is simple for me.
Glad to hear
I have a nurse practitioner friend who goes crazy with the transcription...account MUST be verbatim. She was telling me that the MT will type
"and please send a copy to -------" instead of doing a cc:
Personally I think it's crazy. For me, I'd like to use my brain when I'm transcribing. Of course that is MHO.
Glad to hear
I'm not alone. Do any of you ever just trust that it must have been said and not re-listen?
Also because physicians often use abnormal sentences (leaving out little words, etc.), it makes it hard to know when proofing if I missed a word or if it was dictated that way. I like double check though, because sometimes I did leave a word out.
Glad (or sad) to hear that I am not the only one.
Maybe time to look for a place that does not use Escription.
Glad to hear it!
Back around the dawn of time when I started transcribing, it was DISC. Always, always, always. Then disk started coming into style, though it set my teeth on edge, especially the glaring "diskectomy" which I thought everyone KNEW was wrong.
So glad to hear disc is making a comeback!
I am glad to hear that...
Over the years as we have been warned about our jobs ending because of VR, I didn't lose any sleep over it. I think VR is a good thing when it works - and it obviously must work in your case - my experience with it was not so good. VR, to me, is an entirely different ballgame than being the second or third in line to edit reports that could as well be typed once by a skilled Transcriptionist in the US.
I'm glad to hear she is enjoying
her life!
glad to hear you made it through
Some of us who work for that ___ company might be experiencing some stress and some of the same symptoms in the near future. Its so important to keep yourself healthy with "yunguns" you're responsible for.. God bless you
Hey Jodie, glad to hear all is well.
You're still in my thoughts and prayers. Keep strong and don't let the trolls get to you. There are still those of us here who care about your situation even though we don't really know you.
Glad to hear you testify!!!
Now if we could only do something about it...........
Glad to hear you are leaving MQ
Honestly, I don't know how you put up with that for 10 years.
I was hired there 5 years ago at 8 cents/line and that was fresh out of school. They even bumped me up to 8.5 shortly before I ended up quitting. They have been screwing you over bad.
Glad to hear you all had a good time. :)

Thanks for the updates, glad to hear things
are going well for you. Go to church together, even if you split. Life can get better. God bless!
Glad to hear you have found your "nitch", and
It is so nice to have a place to go where there are others who can understand where you are coming from. Good luck on your new job!
Along these lines, I have another experience you will all be glad to hear...sm
I personally know of a large company that had always maintained they would not outsource but then felt forced to give it a try. It lasted one month, and they quit doing it because of the extremely poor quality of work being returned to them. You must understand that this is a company that is really needing people, as most of the larger ones are, and even in their highly motivated frame of mind to do something to fill their need for help they made the decision in one month that outsourching was not going to work. This should serve as a good reminder to all of us of the importance of exerting ourselves in terms of achieving and maintaining high accuracy. Being thoroughly familiar with the rules regarding grammar and punctuation in addition to the medical content we need to be familiar with may be a "gag-me" experience for some, but it's important that we stay on top of it. It's what separates those who do this work from those who wish they could.
I am glad I waited to hear results on this before buying. sm
I need something that gives truly better syllable discrimination, and most head phones are geared for listening to music, not voice. I still have not found anything better than stethoscope earphones for that purpose.
I am so glad to hear you talk about VR in a good light
I have a jewel of a platform and you can make a decent salary. It is not garbage and like you said, the people here complaining are ones who do not have a good system. You have to be fast in scanning and hearing. If you are a slow typist to begin with, I have no idea how this would play into a person who does really good with VR. I do not fit that category and the people I have know that did VR did not either.
Glad to hear that my adult knitting friends and I are "trashy."

Hear, hear! I agree with Dakota - sm
The MTSO should be giving feedback to the hospital/doctors who slur, speak too rapidly, etc. They need to pull up their socks! And there's no reason why these doctors shouldn't be given an outline of what is expected from them when they dictate, such as cell phones, chewing food, candy, gum, etc.
Glad I could help and glad you got your setup going. nm

My kids have suffered greatly from me working at home with them home. SM
I have been working at home as an MT since my two kids were born. They are now 4 and 5. In the first few years, I had no help whatsoever. Their father was a bum who didnt work or take care of them while I worked. Your children get neglected while you work basically. And babies and young children desperately need your attention while they are home with you.
My kids have so many behavioral problems right now because of their neglect. I would try to set them up with things to occupy themselves, like coloring or a movie, etc.
I finally put them in day care and things have improved, but there are still a lot of issues because of the damage that was done. They still try to seek attention by doing bad things and they dont listen to me because they are so used to me letting them get away with a lot of stuff because I was too busy typing to discipline them in their early years.
If I could do it all over again, I would definitely have put them into day care from the very beginning.
My advice would be to seek PT care for your baby. Maybe you can do some work around her schedule a little when she is home, like when she takes a nap, and then bang out a bunch of work while she is in day care.
I enjoy being alone at home, but I've got one home sick from school already.
One on one with a kid is nice, too.
This summer has been absolutely crazy. I haven't had a moment to myself for three months because all of my kids were home traipsing their friends through the house and yard. My husband switched his work schedule, too, so he's around more than usual. However, I like not having to do two loads of dishes and four loads of laundry a day. There are no toys or clutter dragged out everywhere. I can clean the house first thing in the morning, and it stays clean until everyone gets home at night.
I even got to relax with a cup of coffee and watch TV for half an hour this morning, something I liked for a change instead of cartoons or kids' movies. I signed up for an online class that I've been wanting to take. I can exercise without being interrupted. Yesterday, I went to the mall and spent all my saved up gift cards. I got some clothes, books, bath stuff, and a new coffee mug. My work gets done a lot faster, too. Call me nuts, but I've never had the luxury of being alone in the house for 14 years. It's kinda nice. I love my family with all my heart, but I love having a few hours to myself each week, too.
Except now the cat and dogs have been acting weird since the kids went back to school. They must think that I need someone or something to clean up after and correct behavior on. They're getting into everything and racing around the house behind me.
my take is that she worked inhouse, not at home, and now wants to find out how to work at home. nm

Forget "per line." Your take-home pay should be taking home SM
roughly what it was before. If it is not, is it because your current pay rate for editing (which in many companies keeps changing as the VR system is developed) is too low or is it because your talents and skills are more for speed typing than speed editing?
If the first, discuss it with higherups, and go get a new job if you don't get the response you need. My last MTSO was secretly refiguring how production was counted to pay us less. I can accept hard reality, it was the secrecy that burned. Sometimes, though, it's just that the learning curves of individual editors and that of the system aren't in sync, and you end up temporarily making less.
If the second, though, recognize it as soon as possible and change to straight transcription work, in your company or a new one, for as long as you can find it.
As for why we aren't paid more for a higher skill, that's just the way the labor supply ball bounces. Best wishes.
I think she means she has wireless TO her home, not IN her home..nm

hospital at-home -vs- national at home
I have an interview today with a hospital...work in-house for 3 months, then go home, paid on production. I don't know as of yet what they pay production, so my question is to anyone who works for a hospital at home AND has also worked for a national at home...
Which would be the best to choose? The hospital offers great benefits, but the national I work for now also has benefits, not as good as the hospital, though. Any input would be most appreciated!
Ditto for me. Have done both outside the home and in the home. We all have
bad days, but I sure would not want to trade working at home for anything. Just being here for my kids is worth every bad day!
be glad to.
let me finish my job (another 30 min or so) and i will find the verse.
Glad I could help ! .nm

Thank you - I'm glad to see that there is sm
somebody here that's intelligent enough to tell the difference. I wasn't looking for advice. I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced anything similar.
I guess I should have known better than to post anything here.
Glad I'm not alone. sm
I always just try to consider the source. The sad part is that the people, whomever they may be, who makes these hateful posts on ALL boards are either 1) Trolls or 2) Very unhappy people.
I am so glad I did not take the job with them..s
I am glad I did NOT take the job with that office...sorry pay to boot...7 cpl.
I'm so glad! Also, ...sm
I hate that you cried yourself to sleep all night. It's too much pain for anyone to bear, and I've been crying too. Your post reassured me that I'm not being overdramatic about feeling so compassion for our furry friends. My husband is getting tired of hearing me talk about the those poor dogs down there. I also want to drive there and get some of them. If I don't hear from Best Friends soon about being a foster parent to dogs belonging to the evacuees, I may just do that. (Best Friends says they will transport the pet(s) to you, no matter where you live). Time was of the essence for some of those dogs I saw on the news, and that was yesterday a.m.
Hope someone can get word to the little boy that his pet is located and safe - don't know how though. All I can think about is the little boy worrying about his pet. If he knew his little buddy was OK, he might have some comfort and lessen the pain.
I glad I could be of help!
I know that the decision to homeschool is a mammouth one and can almost be mind boggling! Try to fine a homeschool support group. The public library often knows of them and can direct you or sometimes churches will have large support groups. Call around. I am from Indiana and our state's homeschool office is called Indiana's Association of Home Educators. I know they can give you all the info you need if your from the Hoosier state!
I am so glad this came up...
Please, can you tell me, I am 100% hooked on this program (the sound does not interfere a bit with the dictation for me); however, I did not know it was only a free trial. Supposedly, I only have 15 days left.
Help! Now I have sound pilot. Is home typist different, and if it is, is it free and how would I download that?
Did you have to pay for yours?
I am so grateful to you for posting this originally because it has really helped me...
For the poster previously, "sis," if you read this there are a bunch of other sounds you can download. I switched to the "smith-corona" sound and it is a little softer sound, like the old electric typewriters...
So glad someone had a
chance to read it before it's deleted.
Glad to see there are more too
Being 33 and single without kids and no man or one in sight, just meeting guys who are afraid to commit..well thats my life. I feel kind of judged by people, esp friends who have gone on to marry, some have gotten divorced, but even the divorced ones look down upon me. Like i'm the bad one to not have gotten married and divorced yet. These guys just drain me, it seems like so much work to keep one around let alone faithful. I've got work and school though.
Glad U like it!
Same 2U!
That is what I do. Glad to see others doing the same. nm

I am glad I was of some help. :) nm
I'm glad you said this
The docs never stop dictating. Sometimes a hospital will allow another service to come in for a trial run. Sometimes they funnel all work to the 'trial run' company and sometimes they will funnel a portion. Wanna know why hospitals do this...
1. TAT is not always met...because MTs call in sick and ICs don't keep a consistent schedule and work sits for days waiting to be typed.
2. Hospital continuously gets lousy work...because MTs who have been released from QA upload lousy work because they are more focused on getting more lines instead of producing a quality product.
I know this because I have worked in hospital administration before. I am now an MT. Many MTs gripe and moan about getting fired or not having enough work. What you guys don't seem to realize is that a lot of this is due to MTs who have a poor work ethic.
Everytime you call in sick, you cause an avalanche of issues. Because you work from home, many of you don't understand the concept of 'teamwork'. You see things as they apply to you and not the big picture. MTSOs are under a lot of pressure to find good MTs who will provide a quality product to the client.
MTs are probably the most job hopping people there are. It is very difficult to keep a client happy and make sure TATs are met when you have 10 MTs off 'sick' each day. It's also very difficult to keep a client happy when they have 10 or more crappy reports uploaded each day.
A hospital can drop an MTSO and move on to another. Well guess what...the account that you were hired for is no longer. You also have companies who hire lots of ICs who work and work and work taking away work from the MT employees. I could go on and on but I'll stop here.
