Sounds to me like you are being totally realistic about salary and what will be expected of you so I say go for it. You are right a newbie is probably going to start out at 5cpl, but you can quickly go up from there. I've been in the industry less than a year and am now making 7cpl for standard transcription and 3cpl for editing.

Also, there are other places that will hire a newbie and parttime. They may not be a big national company, but they do give newbies a chance. Don't get stuck thinking the big companies are your only option. Also you can get hired as an IC and then can set your own hours and decide how much you want to work so can work fulltime or parttime that way as well.
