Would anyone who has gone to Disney in Florida recently give me an idea of how much money it takes? My grandkids want this as a goal for saving money and I want to be as realistic as I can with them about the cost and what they need. Thanks.

Travel to Florida/Disney - experiences?
We are planning a trip to Florida for the Daytona 500 in February - we are having problems lining up a hotel in the Orlando area that includes suites with kitchenettes and also has shuttle service to the major parks in the area. We want something in the mid range, maybe 3 star or 4 star, and will only have 2 tweenagers traveling with us - the rest will be adults. Can anyone recommend a place to stay with some atmosphere, pool area, restaurant, etc.?
We've been there before when our kids were young and stayed in very basic motels which was fine. We hardly spent any time at the motel anyway. This time, with some going to the NASCAR race, there will be down time for others, so a nice pool/outdoor area would be a plus.
Disney
We did it a couple of years ago. It was about $1000 person, including room, food, tickets, extra $, and cheap airfare from Baltimore. We did stay in Disney, but there was a deal going on $59 night for the moderates.
Not sure about Universal, but I think you pay the same for Disney whether you pay at the gate or in

Just got back from Disney on Sunday
at the Polynesian resort. We stayed there last year. Stayed at Grand Floridian this year (courtesy of in-laws). We had the Disney Dining plan, 1 counter service, 1 table service, and 1 snack per person per day. We found it worked out to be a good deal for us.
I would buy before you go, on-line, Disney Store - sm
The ticket lines were long at Disney, as for buying at a resort, I don't know, we have always bought in advance, granted not on this trip (comped by Make a Wish) Call a resort and ask. As for International Drive, if it is the road I think it is (Hwy 192) (we just got back ourselves) be prepared for tons of traffic on that road, ripped up for construction, and traffic lights every 1/4 mile it seemed too. Going to Disney was not a problem, it was driving back that took a bit extra time. Universal was pretty wild though, first time there for us. You will have a blast!
The disney tickets cover 4 parks so you are not set in where you go- sm
They cover Disney, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM-Studios. With a park hopper pass you can bounce between all 4 Disney parks in 1 day and it only counts as 1 day/ticket. Without the hopper option you can only go to 1 park that day, of course these are a little cheaper. Check out the Disney web site, it will explain all the ticket options so you know what to ask for when you do get your tickets. Universal is separate, is 2 parks in one basically, one side is more kid oriented than the other. Sea World is separate too, they have a few rides there now too.
I've been to Disney World and not everyone is happy.
minimum wage without benefits. They have layoffs all the time. It's not a happy place to work.
I could not find the thread on Disney World information.
Does anyone know of any great websites to get discounted Disney World tickets and Universal Studio Florida. We are going in a few months and I wanted to buy them ahead of time. Thanks for any information.
We went to Disney in November. Definitely purchase your airline tickets on-line (sm)
I priced them through Travelocity and on the airline's web pages and I got a better price direct from the airlines. On NWA you can preregister on-line 24 hours before your flight leaves, so you just walk into the airport, drop your bags and head for the plane. For the parks, we booked everything through AAA. The price was about $100 less than booking direct with Disney on-line. There are very few places to get cheap Disney tickets, don't waste a lot of time trying. If you're staying on the Disney grounds, let me know and I've got TONS of tips for you. It is a GREAT place to vacation.
Last year we went to Disney and I work on a laptop so I brought it and didn't
take any time off so I could work. After much probing, calling, and trying to set up my internet (I made sure the hotel had wireless or I wouldn't book it), I finally got on line, but it was the night before we had to leave anyway.
I absolutely love my Dell laptop because of the flexibility and I can work on the dining table, office, kids room, etc. I can't imagine ever going back to a desktop PC.
But, you never know when you travel if 100% you will be able to get online.
Disney thread still on this page down under the ugly names post. nm

Florida
Tampa General Hospital took somewhere around 60 patients this weekend, Pasco county has opened homes and a woman who runs a homeless shelter in Spring Hill has made 2 trips to NO to bring back people, all of whom have eventually been placed in homes. Not to change the subject but I have seen a lot of complaints on the board in the past about Wal Mart - I just read in the paper some of the things they have done for the victims - a 20 million dollar cash donation, they had 45 truckloads of food ready to disperse before Katrina even hit landfall, plus numerous other things, sending 150 internet ready computers to the shelters for the evacuees to find their lost ones.
MDI in Florida
Just changing back to radiology from oncology and I am looking into companies. MDI Florida is hiring radiology transcriptionists. Any information would be helpful. I know they have a web site but I would like to hear from the people. Do they have good benefits? How about scheduling and accounts? Do they pay or help out with the long distance phone calls? Good management?
MQ in Florida
Does anyone know what Medquist offices are still operational in Florida?
Florida
I'm not sure about most nationals but I can speak from experience about my company that I work for, I moved to Florida and my pay did not increase. One good thing about Florida is that you do not have to pay state tax, so you get that extra amount on your check every month. Housing (especially buying) has skyrocketed in Florida in the last year or so. As for the schools, I can only speak for the district I was in but I think you can go to fldoe.org and look for information on that. Sorry I couldnt help with any more. Good luck!

Guess the wildfires and possible evacuations are good practice for the upcoming hurricane season!
Why not Florida?
This was a fantasy. I personally don't have anything against Florida, but I seem to recall reading a help wanted ad for a company located in Florida which indicated that it would only hire MTs that lived in certain states, for whatever reason, good or bad. For the other three states that I mentioned, I included those because of bad experiences with companies in those states.
Should be E Florida above

Bonuses at MDI Florida?
I have read that MDI Florida gives bonuses for employees that go the extra mile. I have been there over two years and work hard but have not seen a bonus yet. Do they given them out often or at all? They forgot us for transcription week and do not so anything for birthdays so it would be nice to get something out of it all.
what part of Florida are you in
because it shouldn't really affect your work, if you have a working computer and electricity, you should be able to get work.
It's 10 p.m. and 84 degrees here in Florida.

Move to Florida?

Well I do live in Florida so it's
like a vacation for them every day. We have annual passes to every theme park around here since we are a half hour away from them all including Disney, Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens (1-1/2 hours). For those that want to know how we afford it (since I know it will be asked), Universal has a pass where you can pay monthly. Sea world and Busch Gardens had a 2 year special at Christmas last year that I bought as a Christmas gift. I pay $9 per person per month and free parking with the passes. The Disney passes we won. We go almost every weekend to one of them. In fact, grandma is checking into one of the Disney hotels for the weekend with them so they can go to the parks and then go back to the hotel to rest.
As for the vacation, it's a cruise. It's a big wedding for my closest friend (100+ family and friends are going) and I'm the maid of honor. We discussed it with the 3 oldest before we booked it. Last time we went on a "vacation" alone was when we moved my husband's grandfather down here 8 years ago. We had to go to Tennessee for 3 days, well actually 1 day, one day driving both ways.
Not me - Gen X'er here - 34 yo, Florida

One office in Florida
Hello,
MDI (Medical Dictation, Inc.) has one office in Brooksville, Florida. Most of our MT's work at home.
We do have one account with physical therapy work, but do not need help with that at the present time.
Thanks for your post.

FLORIDA TRIP
I have bought plane tickets on the internet. You book your flight online and then you print out your tickets. It all worked out fine. Are you a AAA member? I have used them for our trip to Disney. They took care of everything for us. (FLIGHT, HOTEL, THE PARKS)
about that swampland in florida
I keep an Excel sheet on my line counts typing CT, MRIs, MRAs, PETs showing what I would be making per page and/or 65 cpl. Per page is one-half of 65 cpl (50% decrease) in your pay. And that is before any font/margin changes they may make (using Courier 12).

CNA Job duties in Florida
Does anyone know if a cna can give injections, administer local anesthesia (lidocaine) in the state of Florida?????
CNA Job duties in Florida
What I am trying to figure out, is that I work with a CNA (as a head nurse! figure that out) that gives patients kenalog injections and also numbs patients before minor surgery with lidocaine. I don't think this is legal. She also works for 3 years as a head nurse without being certified. She never renewed it.
Florida here, No state tax but...sm
I have had to pay occupational license tax for my township and also the city yearly the past 3 years.........but the IRS never penalizes me for paying my taxes yearly for the private side.....I also work for a nat'l and they do take out taxes.
MRC of Maryland/Florida
Please give me feedback on this company ASAP! Good/Bad? Thanks.
SW Florida rates
That's ridiculously low! Is there some way for you to check around among colleagues in your area? 20 years ago I was charging 12 cents per line here in Michigan, and Michigan is certainly not an economic wonderland.
I would also be wary of any hospital telling me that another company is offering to do their work for 8 cents a line. Do you believe them? I certainly would not. I know that there is really nothing you can do in this case, anyway, but I hate deception.
Medscribe Florida
I am sorry, it looks like they are out of Florida.
Florida rates
I have been asked to bid a hospital HIM/RIS account in Florida, which is outside my home state. Does anyone have an idea about the Transcriptionist compensation in Florida and/or the rate for transcription work there? I am in the mid West and know there is a difference.
Thanks, looking for business
Florida Universities
Happen to know of a University in Florida that sounds like Wetger's or Wetcur? I cannot find anything remotely close.
LOL! I hope you live in Florida or
another area with a warm climate that doesn't experience SNOW! LOL!
Thanks for the laugh on an otherwise dull Saturday.
Questions for anyone in the Florida area...SM
I currently live in Houston and my husband's work might have us relocate to Florida here soon, around Panama City area.
I haven't talked to my work yet, but do most nationals pay any type of different rate when you live in an area with a higher cost of living? Also, what is the going rate for insurance there? We rent now, but will probably look to buy a house when we get there. I am not finding anything less than $260,000 that I am willing to move into. Is this the norm? Any info on the quality of the school districts would also be appreciated. Also, what is the gas, food, clothes, etc., prices like compared to my area? Any info would be appreciated.
Spent 8 years in Florida
Have you tried the realtor sites? If you are looking to rent, use rent.com, apartmentguide.com, forrent.com. Also, go online and look at the online newspaper for that area.
The price of real estate is ridiculous there because of the demand. We once looked at a mobile home and I kid you not, the insulation was hanging out the bottom, no skirting, chickens running around, and the neighbors horses within 5 feet of the back door (free flies too). They wanted 800 a month with 2400 to move in. Even the apartment prices are pretty high for what you get there.
There's a reason why Florida is a peninsula,

It is MDI Florida. Lots on them if you do search.

Anyone ever been to Flagler Beach, Florida?
