Yeah, an anonymous message board so they are a supervisor if they say so, just as I say I'm an editor. Supervisors do what they are TOLD to do by their bosses. Period. Any company - any industry - any planet. Oh, yeah, a supervisor is gonna read here that a grand total of 2 anonymous MTs from unknown companies want to get friendly introductory emails. This supervisor is gonna learn from this and go to his/her boss and say she should send friendly emails causing whining anonymous posters on MTStars said they want it? You are too funny! And if you a supervisor who would do this, I guarantee you won't be one for long!! You'll be back down at the bottom of the food chain, probably at a new company, wondering why your new supervisor isn't sending you a friendly email!! And would the supervisor who read that 2 Mts wanted to hear from their supervisor also ignore that the masses then flamed supervisors and said they NEVER wanted to hear from their supes? The only thing a supervisor would glean from this board is how the fish in the bottom of the pond fight and bite and eat each other! No one with an half ounce of intelligence in a supervisory position is gonna come here for YOUR help! Now that is funny!! This board has a reputation for being the lowest of the low in the world of MT boards. Don't flatter yourselves!

Why not? They would learn a lot.
so lots of MTs are liars and supervisors are superstars who do not appear on MTStars.
Whatever.
regarding MQ wanting e-mail from supervisors, etc. Why? Who cares what supervisors want?
It's like little kids wanting recognition from their parents. These supervisors for the most part are anonymous. Who really cares about e-mails from them unless they are offering more money or a bonus? There is nothing else I care to hear from them. I do my work with or without them. I figure everytime I get a supervisor e-mail, I am paying for it with my time and I am also paying that supervisor to state the obvious, either the account is behind or caught up. Really, I am paying the supervisor's salary.

New supervisors at MQ
I had an email from my new supervisor asking me to call her at my convenience. I did, we talked 20 minutes or so. I was surprised. This has happened in a long time, but I personally haven't had changes in supervisors for a while now.
new supervisors at MQ
Thank you! That's EXACTLY what I meant! A group mailing! It's not like I want the woman to show up at my front door with a dozen roses! BTW, what's ASR?
Supervisors
I know my job very well and the supervisors are coming to me for the correct information. The only time you see them is when they can't figure it out or to let you know they are still the boss.
supervisors say they do not know
either, are waiting just like the rest of us
Does anyone have personable MQ supervisors, or are they
It would be nice to have a supervisor I know a little bit about, but she just sends out job number updates and asks for extra help when we get close to out of turnaround. When I do call for a question or something, her attitude is more or less "just get off the phone and get work done" and I just have no idea who she is. Its scary knowing someone like that is in charge, someone who does not want to take the time to go over whatever problem you have and listen, its like we're disposable or something. Used to be different before we all got dispersed by region, my main office I could call and chit chat and get favors and it wasn't all about me working my butt off for them, but give and take so both parties are happy. I don't know, its just getting weird.
Check with your supervisors.

Wow. Is this from your immediate supervisors or from the higher ups/HR, etc.? Are you being

Get rid of superfluous supervisors.

Good for you. Even though supervisors and/or
they DO NOT because there is a click among them. If an MT is let go from hospital A and applies to hospital B (in the same state/area) you better believe that A and B supervisors are "girlfriends." I personally am waiting to run into my old supervisor (hopefully with her husband or grown kids) so I can find out if she is still cheating on her husband. Payback is a B**** and she was nothing but a W***E.
Yep. You're right about the supervisors.
supervisor in all that time, Bernadette. Loved her. The last one was so horrible I told her ass off and got fired. Pffffttttt.
there are a lot of really good supervisors, too...sorry to generalize (nm)
xx
Your are right. All from India. Supervisors communicate via IM.
Communication is difficult at best. Pay is penalized for anything below 98%, which would be fine if your QA work was not done by people in India. You can only imagine what your checks look like. Not pretty.
Hateful notes from supervisors
Some of these supervisors and MTSOs must be the most unhappy people in the world and must hate themselves. No way a normal person could send out horrible hateful notes to their staff. Wish they would get some professional help, just for their own sake.
What traits do successful supervisors have?
I want to know what I can do to become the best supervisor possible. Personally, I have had only one great supervisor in all my years and what I found is that she displayed, fairness, objectivity, a sense of humor, consistency. Can you tell me what your idea of the perfect supervisor is?
You have no idea what the other MTs behave like! The supervisors have learned thru
experience by your fellow nut-case MTs to stay away - leave them alone. Seriously, you would be amazed, absolutely AMAZED, at the rash of hate emails that would be generated back if some poor supervisor tried to be pleasant and dropped all MTs a Hello note! Its SICK, but true. I can totally relate, and am too afraid to contact anyone. Even MTs who seem friendly - they'll thank you for introducing yourself, and turn right around and rip you to a superior for harassment. ITS UNREAL OUT THERE!! If I were you, I would really take the high road and just send your new supe an email and introduce yourself!! He/she would probably really be touched. Again, nothing personal - no, you don't want them on your doorstep, but I assure you, there is a reason you're not getting any introductory emails! Its called the MTs have set the stage for this by their freakish behavior en masse in the past!
supervisors have a couple hundred mt's to "worry about"? please!
if they are smart enough to be a supervisor (?!?) how come they aren't smart enough to send a group e-mail?
based on posts below regarding supervisors not e-mailing, etc
does anyone know what a work at-home supervisor's job duties area and what salary they are paid. looking for a supervisory job so i can quit the grind of transcribing but need to know more about duties and pay.
Where's all our supervisors on this question who have to work extra to keep
accounts within turn around time. what happens when account falls out and you can't keep it up by yourself?
Has talking to the supervisors not helped up there. What are they thinking.
:
Consider yourself lucky to have supervisors who are fair minded.
dd
how about supervisors who facilitate the cherry picking...
I HATE IT! So unfair.
even supervisors fall prey to the clics and clans--sm
the others think they are buttering up her good side, to get what they think they want and trying to make others look bad. That happens even on this board, as I had said earlier, before my post was removed. Supervisors fall on one side of the fence or the other, just as well as lay people. Personally, I wouldn't trust any of them. Just do your job and turn a deaf ear and blind eye to all the office politics. Things will be better down the road. Trust in that. Good luck to you.
the work first goes to the supervisors (if they have to type too) and they pick the best. Then filt
If I work during the day I get junk dictation, if I get on later or after midnight the work is normal. These people you call "leads" have to type too and are at an advantage to get the best dictation. I guess they feel this is a bennie. They can't see our face so what do they care, we are like a number in Auschitz to them.
You read my post ABSOLUTELY correct. Supervisors don't need my appreciation nor
do I need their's. We all just want to get paid if you are honest. I don't have time to worry if I am appreciated by MQ. I just want them to pay me for an honest day's work. I guess that shows they like me, they really, really like me. Talk is cheap. I get it all the time from MQ CEO/management, how much I am appreciated. I just want to paid for my time and don't want to hear all the talk. I mean who really cares. So if they appreciate me and don't pay me for my efforts, what do I do with this "appreciation"? Bank it?
Supervisors are a token figure-head for the weak-minded
who need guidance and approval. Why would anyone keep anybody who needed constant help on doing their job employed. I know my job and what is required. No one at this point in time can really advise me on what to do although as NEW supervisors come and go, they do give it a shot in order to justify their jobs. But they come and go and I stay. Buy a clue.
I have heard so many people rationalize cherrypicking and seen too many supervisors not deal with i
It's a scourge on this profession ... like the folks who gratefully accept absurdly dreadful line rates because -- "it's better than nothing"
It's why we're all making LESS than we did 10 years ago, 15 years ago ... made worse because that's even without adjusting for inflation ...
Supervisors aren't reachable through anonymous message boards. You have to actually write them or
call them at work.
i am like you, i doubt it was even sent given her sm
flakiness it sounds. i would send her a certified letter demanding your money back within so and so days or you will contact the police dept for theft as well as sue her in small claims. however, small claims doesn't help much. you have to file in the county she lives in, which you can do via fax, but around here it costs like $60-70 just to file. then i assume you would have to go to OK for the court date so a lot of added expenses adding to much more than the $100. even if the court orders her to pay, there is no follow through with small claims. hey, you can contact judge judy, lol, and might even get a semi-vacation out of it for free. i would threaten her though and call her with a blocked # or use someone else's # to call her.
yep, when in doubt
Just laugh at them. In the olden days of the Lanier stations, we had a female dictator that would keep cutting herself off like that. The report would be in like 20 pieces, and she would keep coming back on, didn't even sound frustrated or anything, just kept saying, "I am continuing." What a DOPE - SPEAK UP!!!!
NO DOUBT
This country is so screwed up right now it is not even funny. Do not believe the "lowest unemployment rate ever". It is LOW because people have RUN OUT OF unemployment and are off the books. He needs to be on unemployment, waiting for his checks and see how he likes buying gas at these prices. By the way, going up another 10 cents per gallon here today so they say.
Doubt it
Probably not qualified.

I am sure someone else will come along before too long and enlighten us! At least we can hope so or this place is going to the birds because it is b-o-r-i-n-g!
No doubt....
Saw was scariest I have seen in a long time. Not for the squeamish!
I doubt it would help.
Not being negative here, but I've tried it. I don't think your company would approve of you using it, and I don't know if it would even work with their platform since it's not Word-based. Do you use an expander? Which platform are you working on? How many accounts are you bounced around on? Have to look up patient info?
I Doubt That. It happens all over.
8 years working for a hospital and we always had our "dry" periods around the holidays. Sometimes, it would be a month, sometimes 2 months. Last year it was 4 months! There was work, but very, very slow.
I now work for a national and am in the same boat. It started drying up around the holidays. I'm working a couple days a week, but not a full week. . . but I really don't care. I worked 7 days a week for 8 years and with everything else I do, time off is like heaven...but in the end, it will be like the 'other world' when the bills start piling up.
without a doubt (OP)
I think the MT profession needs more respect, and no, we are not losers. Its work smarter, not harder. We earn what people with BA's earn, without the stress, in the comfort of our own home. Who wants to be stressed their entire life?? The corporate world is taking over, but they are all having heart attacks in their 40s.
My hats off to you for going back to school. Sometimes it takes a no choice situation for us to get out of our comfort zone, and just throw ourselves out there and see what income we can scare up. The past couple years I have really been exploring my passions, and that is what I want to take into retirement, something I feel fulfilled doing. Like you said, creatitivity. Even if I have to work 2-3 jobs. Thanks for your post, I figured I wasn't the only one a little worried.
Don't know, I doubt it - sm
but perhaps a system restore if you have Windows XP
good luck
I doubt it.
,
I doubt you need it
If you are an employee, you don't need it for sure as the finish product belongs to them, not you.
If you are an IC with a contract that the notes belong to them/the provider, you don't need it.
If you are working for a clinic on your own, always put a clause in there that either you don't support electronic signatures or the CYA "dictated but not read" at the bottom of the note.
In any case whatsoever, if you are doing your job properly you shouldn't have an issue. Also it is very plainly the physcian's responsibility to read their notes before signing. I know most don't but it falls on them. We are not the MD, PA, whatever. If you question things you think may not be right and don't guess, that should be enough.
Thanks, but I seriously doubt that she will--sm
It seems like she has already made her decision, as I have read previous posts from her on the same subject. Personally I think she knows this is a subject that is going to evoke responses and she is just trying to stir things up, but she is pointing her blaming finger in the wrong direction...in my opinion. I wish her luck.
Sorry, no doubt BOS says that..nm

#6 without a doubt
I was a legal secretary in litigation for many years. Only time I worked under daily pressure like this was right before a trial and that wasn't that often and I got paid supremely well for it too, especially before a trial, and I didn't know squat compared to what I need to know to do this. Then I ran a word processing/editing service with an emphasis on doctoral dissertations. Compared to each, THIS is by far the most difficult. We are typing and UNDERSTANDING and CORRECTING DICTATED ERRORS IN a foreign language all day under pressure day after day. Our job requires education and experience and skills the former did not. Besides that, what we do affects human lives and our mistakes will follow them the rest of their lives so we must be accurate. By all means it deserves a least a #6, especially if we go EMR and most docs don't check our work and that's pricing it LOW.
I rather doubt that, but if that's what you
then go for it.
I actually don't send mine very much. But even if I send them just ONE question a month, they still gripe about it. Pulls them away from their potato-chip and cookie binge-eating and their soap-operas, I guess.
