I work with C-phone for dictation - internet for transcription. Is it possible to dial into the C-phone and transfer the voice to a file on the computer, simulating voice file. All suggestions for software conversions available, would be greatly appreciated. Please email to aloha2@yaho.com.

Ever tried CC File Transfer? sm
I wonder if it is HIPAA-compliant. Any responses are appreciated.

File Transfer
I am currently using Novuscript as my file transfer provider. I only do a very small amount of transcription for 1 doctor, and this is costing me around $50 a month. Does anyone have any suggestions for a more economical HIPAA compliant file transfer method.
large file transfer
My MTSO sends large volumes of new account info (tons of normals, etc) in compressed files thru e-mail. Don't know anything else about compressed files, but thought it might be worth checking out.
File transfer protocol
nm
FTP is File Transfer Protocol.
It is a method of sending files between two computers that requires a software program to accomplish the task. Think of it like Windows Explorer to move files between computers.
You need to have a server that acts as a holder where files can be uploaded to and downloaded from by parties who have access to that specific site, identified by their ISP numbers and not a name (like mtstars.com).
File transfer suggestions
I currently do a small amount of transcription for a doctor's office and have been using Novuscript to transfer files and dictation. Does anyone have any suggestions that might be less expensive that are HIPAA compliant for file transfer and dictation transfer.
VPN or secure file transfer
Are all VPN's secure? If not, which ones are? I need to purchase one soon.
Secure file transfer......(sm)
I've heard of several people using FilePhile for secure file transfers, although I have no personal experience with it. It's supposed to be free, easy, and HIPAA compliant.

Anyone get their MQ aco file to transfer to Keystrokes DQS? sm
I have tried and tried to get this to transfer over, but their is only spot I can find in the DQS system for it. I have copied my old file there, and it still only shows the header file preloaded in DQS. Anyone else have any luck with this? Thanks :)
FTP stands for file transfer protocol.
It is transferring files. You log onto the FTP site using software, such as Core FTP Lite that is free, then you can upload and download files on the company's FTP server.
Here's the link to the free download of Core FTP Lite.

I wasn't able to transfer my file, but someone referred me to..sm
this Productivity Talk board and I e-mailed the "moderator" of the board (and who seems to be the only person in the world who knows how to do this) two weeks ago and I've gotten no response, so that may just be a waste of time, but you could try it. I have had to manually re-enter my auto corrects yet again. I went from SmarType on YOG to DQS to new job in Word all in two months. I so hope I don't have to do this again for a very long time.
Good luck.
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol
It transfers voice files.

Easy backup file transfer alternative for non-tech-savvy client
Hello all,
I have a new client who is not tech-savvy at all. She lost her Transcriptionist and transcriptions are backing up. She is so desperate she is willing to try digital with me. (yay) I hope everything with the FTP setup goes easily for her, but if for some unforseeable reason we cannot get it to work, I was wondering if someone here could recommend an easy alternative, if only to get the first few dictations to me while we work out the FTP. She is incredibly frustrated and on edge at the moment, so anything to ease this transition would be a lifesaver!
Thank you all so much for your help!
Meditech questions and Cerner questions. Any input is appreciated. SM
I just recently went back to work in the office at a local hospital. We type in both Meditech and Cerner, depending on what you are typing, i.e. Medical Records reports versus Radiology. We are currently typing blindly in Meditech, meaning we do not have access to our line counts and must depend on management to give us our totals. In Cerner, we are able to run a line count report and print out a hard copy of our line counts at the end of the day.
We are finding that 800 lines in Cerner equals about 500 lines in Meditech. We are not paid per line nor do we have an incentive plan, but we have a new HIM Director who would like to institute an incentive plan and the administrator over our department has laid down the law and decreed that all transcriptionists not making minimum in the department will be written up. Problem is according to Meditech line totals that we have been given, that would be about half the department.
The transcription supervisor has taken our concerns to the new director who told the MT Supervisor to hold off on writing people and has taken home all the line counts from the last month and she is going over them with a fine tooth comb this weekend.
I am not a very trusting soul by nature, so I am doing a little research on my own. I've been in this business for about 15 years. I started out in a hospital and have worked for a few services at home and am now back in the hospital setting. So I know a few things about line count and I consider myself to be pretty well informed on trends and technology in the industry. I would like to walk into our next department meeting armed with as much knowledge as possible. So I have come up with some questions that I would like some fellow MTs to answer, give opinions, and maybe even direct me to websites or individuals who could give me a better understanding of Meditech and Cerner. Here are my questions:
- Is it possible for an MT to have access to her line count in Meditech or is strictly a management function? Any MTs that work in Meditech on this board, do you currently have access to your line counts and if so, how do you check them? Is it an option on the main menu after you log into Meditech?
- How is a line defined in Meditech? (i.e. 65 cpl, with spaces, without spaces)
- How is a line defined in Cerner?
- What abbreviation Expanders work with both Meditech and Cerner?
- Examples of incentive plans (if anyone would like to share that with me that would be great, if not I completely understand).
- Measuring productivity by minutes of dictation versus typed lines.
- What would be the minimum minutes required for an 8-hour day?
- How would one structure an incentive program based on minutes?
I was thinking of presenting the idea that we keep track of productivity using minutes instead of lines since there is such a discrepancy in Meditech. I also worry that if an incentive plan is put into place and we are still typing blind into Meditech, what's to keep management from shaving off a few lines here and there?
Feel free to email me or post here any responses. Either is fine. I really appreciate any input, comments, or just plain old supportive posts would be nice too!
Rename your normal.dot file to something else then restart Word. It will create a new file.

I think it is the same type of file, so rename it and replace your autocorrect file with your DQS us

Help..I lost my word file. How can I retreive a file that has been changed? sm
I was working on a large file and had saved it in Word. I then went back to work on the file and hit a key that made the page go blank. When I went to close the document it asked me to save any changes on the document. I answered yes, and now when I click on that document it is all blank! Shouldnt the previous info saved be there, even if the current stuff is not? Please help me!! Thank you
Depends on the file format of the Short Cuts file.
ShortHand comes with a utility file that can import various formats. You can get that file with the trial download of SH.

...with your user.aco file. Save your autocorrect file to somewhere else. nm

You can save the SH file in a text file and import to IT that way. sm
You may have to do some cleanup in the SH text file, but it sure would be faster than re-entering them all manually.
File taxes under the name on file w Social Security....
Name on W2 doesn't have to match, but your tax return has to match SS records. They don't want your marriage license or anything else. Did that for 13 years as instructed by IRS. Didn't have to change it with SS until state changed rules requiring drivers license to match SS records. Still use my maiden name in some limited circumstances.
MQ transfer
Don't bother - they are now transferring those "wonderful" Birmingham employees elsewhere and the company is going to the dogs.
MQ Transfer
Would you mind telling us where you were transferred to?? One o f the MT's in our office is ruuning into the same problem you had--she works 7 days a week and runs out of work in all of her 4 accts but yet they (Foxboro) will call her on monday morning to tell her that they are out of TAT in her primary act. She did exactly what you did and used another ID number and lo and behold there was all the work, being held for someone else
Transfer
I was transferred from Old Bridge, N.J. to Warminster, PA. Old Bridge closed March 31. Another MT, who is an email friend of mine, also works out of Foxboro and she is out of work a lot lately, too.
How do you transfer
AutoText from Word to a disk or flash drive. I can't figure out how to get it on there. TIA
an .exe file is not a voice file
I'm no techie, but it sounds like they might've sent the wrong file by mistake. Or could it be a program you need for testing/working for them that they sent? What is the name of the file (if it is something you can say here)?
office transfer
I have heard of employees changing offices. I agree about DocQScribe and line count issues, but after trying a couple other companies out I decided it wasn't so bad after all. Good Luck!!
MQ transfer ? for Buffey
Buffey,
On the company board you mentioned you work for the Columbus Ohio office, now your saying someone in your office (Foxboro) had some problems. Do you work out of both Columbus AND Foxboro? I'm confused
Is there a way to transfer shortcuts...

Need HELP to transfer expansions
I want to transfer my shortcuts (expansions) from DocQScribe to Microsoft office word. Is it possible to do this? Can anyone tell me where to go for instructions/guidelines on doing this? Please help!
transfer autocorrect
If you are using the same version of MS Word you can just replace the ".acl" file with the one you have. It does not need to be converted. This "may" work even if not the same version.
You should be able to find the correct location by doing a Windows search for "*.acl"; however, if there are files in multiple locations, start Word and add or delete something from Autocorrect, then close Word. Repeat the search and find the most recently modified .acl file and rename it. Then copy your old file into that same folder. Open Word back up and your old Autocorrect things should be there.
If this does not work and/or you still need a text file, let me know and I will try to help further.
AutoCorrect transfer...sm
Hi,
What would be the easiest way to transfer AutoCorrect entries from one computer to another?
TIA
easy transfer
i have a program called easy transfer that came installed on my laptop. i periodically transfer from my desktop to my laptop this way. it will walk you through all of the steps. i'm not sure where'd you get it if you don't already have it, but try asking at one of the box stores like staples, best buy, etc. hope this helps!
You can transfer from some expanders. SH
has a tutorial in their software showing how to do it. I transferred from PRD.
transfer & invoice
I use PractiCount for line counting & invoicing. I've used Sylvan as well & I think PractiCount is way superior, plus it's cheaper. For one thing, you can drag & drop from a file tree. All the files you are counting don't have to be in the same folder. I found this annoying with Sylvan. PractiCount does everything Sylvan does, and then some, only better.

AutoCorrect Transfer
You could try Windows Easy Transfer. I used it to transfer all of my settings, including AutoText and AutoCorrect, from my desktop to my laptop. Just do a search for it and it will tell you how to do everything.
????????? You use it to transfer files from
the client's system to your computer. Not hard at all. They transfer in the form of WAV files and then you download them into your "player"-- I use Express Scribe and transcribe them. You open it up, download the files, and then close it again. You do not actually "work" in it, it just gets you the files.
You do have to transfer the files...
... there are some instructions here:
http://forum.mtstars.com/main/v/1/127278.html
I highly recommend the Productivity Talk board (Google it) for answers to these kinds of questions. :)
Trust me, I wouldn't transfer -
I just wanted to know where this LA la land was. I wasn't trying to be nasty. I am very frustrated with all this BS going on. The the majority are unhappy and a handful of happy people - doesn't make sense. If they would operate every office the same, it would certainly cut down on the unhappy versus happy MTs. I'm glad your happy and got an awesome account - I felt that way about them for many, many years. I am not miserable with them, I just think that we should be treated as people and every office equal.
Has anyone been able to transfer their normals/standards from
nm
How do I transfer DQS expansions to MS Word
I already know how to access and copy the user.aco files from DQS, but I can't figure out how to copy them into another copy of MS Word Auto Correct to use for another platform.
Getting a new computer and need to transfer Shorthand...sm
among other things and really don't know how to go about it. I don't have an original ShortHand disk to reinstall the program on my new computer and of course I don't want to lose my zillions of abbreviations. Can anyone help please?
...(I better stop this.)..instructions to transfer

I use mydocsonline for the doctor to transfer - sm
their digital files. They get on the internet, log into the mydocsonline website, and use their log in then use the "download assistant" which will transfer the files from their computer to the website. Very simple, they have no problem with it and most of the ladies their are computer challenged as well. It is totally secure too. Then the site emails you that you have files waiting, which is nice so you don't have to keep checking it. Then you can retreive them the same way or set up a network/WebDAV on your computer which is also secure. Metroscript does the same thing, but is a little more expensive. Have fun.
BUY IT!! YES YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TRANSFER YOUR AUTOCORRECT ENTRIES!! SM
go with the best, Instant Text or Shorthand, and you will be able to transfer anything you have now into their system.
go to www.productivitytalk.com for step by step instructions and more than info than you think you will ever need!
Secure documentation transfer
Hi, I'm a medical transcriptionist/medical information technologist of a small MTSO called ScriptExcellence. I use "ScriptWave" for my workflow management/secure data transmission between the clients and myself and my subcontracted transcriptionists. The program was designed by my program developer brother, and my service has used it for two years with great success and low cost. If you'd like more information, check out the site at www.scriptwave.net. Best wishes to you!
