if you have a limited number of doctors who use a lot of repeats. I am lucky to make 100 lines an hours with the account I am on.

Good for her! In-house we used to get all the demographics--
Now I put in name, date dictated, time dictated, dictator ID#, billing #, copies (for which I- that is I, me, have to maintain the list and the #s), date transcribed, time transcribed, and work type and op or procedure date or service date (all three different fields--pick one depending on work type, which I have to maintain a list) -- God forbid they hire and pay a programmer, when the MT can do it as part of her duties and not get paid. We are being treated like dirt! I remember even 15 years ago, we would have had a cow if we had to imput this info ourselves! 15 YEARS AGO!!!!! My MTSO has PROMISED this for 2 years!! 2 YEARS! Keeps saying "if the hospital would pay for it." There is plenty of stuff that could be programmed on his end. I cry when I see an ad about what technology can do--the word processor (us) is being left totally behind. I feel like I'm on a Selectric with one of the letters missing, this makes me so slow. MTSOs--help out the poor woman! Most of the time. We need programming, too.
If 2much, just load AVG and SUPERantispyware; Very good ones NM

EMDAT is a very good platform. The people that do not like it never learned it. I also hated it in the beginning. It's not that EMDAT is bad; it's the fact that it is a change from what they've been doing. A friend of mine makes more per line, but I make much more money than her. The demographic screen is already filled in on each job. That alone gives me two lines before I even type a word. The Expanders are wonderful, and there is no need at all for an additional expansion program of any kind. And I've read several times that the spellcheck/dictionary is just awful. It is NOT if it is set up correctly! EMDAT's tech team is easily accessible and get back to you very quickly if not at the moment you call. They will walk you thru any and all steps. If your spellcheck is not catching words, something is wrong. I'll get arguments I'm sure, but I've worked on this platform now for three years and wouldn't want to go to anything else.

Do any Co. Pay good on Emdat
It seems that every job I have seen on Emdat/Inscribe is only 7 cpl. Why is this? I have 10+ experience and am sick of being offered only 7 cpl!

Emdat Software Question for Emdat Users

I have a question about the Emdat software. Regarding the cc: box, sometimes, you have to type in the address, because the address is not in the database. I have found that when you try to pause the audio with either the foot pedal or the "F" key assigned to pause while typing the address, the audion will not pause; it keeps on playing. You should be able to pause the audio while trying to type the address into the database. Anyone else notice this, anyone? Thank you kindly.
Demographics in DQS
Do any of you have problems with bringing up info for the ADT screen? I was told that I could play detective and bring up lists of patients to find the right one but usually I just get the message that there is no one by that name in the records. It's hard to believe there is no one with the last name of Wendell or Harvey or Weinstein, for example. If the med rec number is wrong and you bring up the wrong name, that is the name you will continue to get no matter what names you try. I'm just curious about this. It isn't a huge problem since I just pass the buck.

different name, clear the whole demographic field (clear at bottom) and you can try whatever name you want, or just highlight the number and delete it

It's easy if all the demographics are
there. Some docs don't like it. One doc says, "this is not a very user-friendly system." You could hear the frustration in his voice. Another doc pulled out as a client...never to be heard of again. It's got its own Expander but not very reliable.
Usually the patient demographics is shaded
on the MT end because it is only used as a guide to make sure you have the correct patient demographics. But it should show up on the MTSO or client end in full. It seems a little strange that your MTSO doesn't know anything about it. Hopefully this isn't an employee of a national who is asking you to help out on his/her accounts and using his/her name or MT number.
I bet she doesn't have to deal with demographics, though, right?

ExText - can it be set to not spellcheck demographics?
Every time I complete a report, spellchecker spellchecks the demographics section, which is not necessary. If you hit the wrong button, sometimes it will mess up the demographics on the report, although it doesn't tell you that you did anything wrong. Does anybody know if spellcheck can be set to only check the document and not the footer information?

How many of you are being asked to do more demographic work and other extras in your job that do not apply to your line count? An email went out telling us that these areas "had to be filled in" because it caused too much work for the hospital if we didn't do it - but these demographics do not add to our line count - so I have a hard time understanding why we are to take 2-5 minutes in each report to do work that we are not paid for - for one report it doesn't seem like that much - but add it up to all that you do in a week - and well, that's a big pay decrease from where I stand. How many of you are dealing with this problem. It is probably not a new one - just new to me.

demographics are not the only info that is HIPAA protected
Any info that could compromise a patient's privacy is protected. that includes any diagnostic information, tests, diagnoses, etc., and basically anything in that record.

MTSO here - I *used* to send my accounts Christmas gifts, but I stopped doing it. Why? Because one year, after sending a $100.00 gift basket to one of my docs, for thanks, he dictated a formal letter to me, mixed in with his other dictation, thanking me!!??
Another very well to do doc sent me a $3.00 or so Walmart-style Hersey mug with a little bag of Hersey kisses in return for the nice gift basket I sent him.
Two years in a row, another doc couldn't even scrung up a thank you note - no acknowledgement whatsoever.
Another office did the same thing - no thank you - no note - no nothing.
Needless to say, my gift giving came to an end after about three years of this.

Work load
I've been with Amphion since June and it has been pretty easy to steadily increase my line count. I've never been harassed by anyone. There is tons of work and right now mandatory overtime, an hour extra a day plus whatever you want to work after that. I have no complaints myself.

Work Load
For the past 4 months the work load has been consistently lighter, i.e., less work throughout the day. At first I thought the company overhired, then I blamed the holidays, and now my boss is blaming the Inauguration. I have 4 accounts and all 4 have less work during the day and run out by 7 or 9 pm. EST. Three are based in the Maryland area and 1 is in Florida (so the Inauguration blame game does not work there) I can't even begin to understand how the West Coast girls are dealing with this. Anyone else having this problem? I am trying to decide if it is worthwhile to pick up a part-time job or just hope this gets better? My pay has been steadily decreasing for 4 months now and it has to start picking up or I can't keep up with the bills.

ST: 250 lines an hour at 8 cents a line is $20.00. (I can do 250 an hour if I concentrate). If I can only do 200 lines an hour, that is still $16.00 an hour.
Now for the VR:
VR: 400 lines (roughly 60% more than straight typing 250 lines an hour) at 3 cents a line is $12.00.
How is that more money? It's a 25% cut!
How many of you spent years perfecting your macros and shortcuts and Expanders just to have it taken away from you so you can't make a decent living?
I won't be doing any VR work. I think they wasted their money with this new technology. They could have given us raises with that money and had happy employees cranking out the lines. Win-win.

I'm also new to ES and can't figure out how to get it to auto load the next job file when I click "done" with the current file. I have all my voice files in a folder and it loads them all, but sure would like to not have to manually load each new one. Can anyone help? TIA!

onto my home computer and this is the message I am getting. I can hear audio from other things, just not the company I am hoping to work for. Should your headgear always fit into the front of the PC or is it ok in the back- does this have anything to do with it?

I'm in an office doing transcription and our revenue is way down. Even people with insurance still have to pay some part of their office visit or test or prescription and making those payments has become difficult so they're either avoiding paying them or avoiding coming in for the appointment. So, yes the economy is affecting our business as well b/c the patient load is down significantly.

The ONLY way I can see that, and I highly doubt it, is if her docs have mostly standard exams that give her a HUGE boost in lines.
On eScription I did a group of cancer docs who really had pretty standard exams so I could EDIT 1000 lph easily but noooo way could I straight type 600 lph.
