Did anyone buy the EQ 50 equalizer from Martel? I did and cannot figure out how to hook it up. I am using it for ExText dictation on computer using speakers. I had my headphones plugged into speakers and instructions are not clear at all. Does anyone know how to do this? Please help! TIA

piece of junk. I got mine today too - same way - plugged into speakers, etc, and it had a loud buzzing noise. I am sending it back. I tried not sendnig it through speakers, just computer, etc and I know it was the piece because my ear phones had no static unless hooked up to this.
As I said, it is an equalizer. (sm)
The boost in sound is just an added bonus, for me anyway, as sometimes I receive dictation with a much lower volume than normal, and can have any and every volume control involved set at full blast on high and still cannot hear. The equalizer is the really cool part. I already had a sound booster before I bought the EQ-50. It enables you to actually reduce bothersome noises, such as the static you mention as your main problem.
Equalizer/ExText
Does anyone know if you can use the EQ 50 equalizer with ExText. I cannot get it to work (I did install new batteries) but no sound at all!
TIA

Check out www.martelelectronics.com, under transcription accessories or headsets or something like that. Adjusting the mid channel on the equalizer helps take out a good portion of the background noise. Hope this helps.
Someone might recommend a type of equalizer. Headphones with a sound control on the line help, too.
