EMR question

There are several types of EMRs -- I have many docs in them. For most EMR programs -- think of it as one big data base with patient demographics already in there. If web based, it's kind of like going to a web site. You will have access to his program with a password, look up the patient he dictates in the list of patient charts, and will most likely have a text box or two that you type his dictation into. Very easy. If he is telling you he wants you to type directly into EMR, this is most likely how it will be. You may have a few less lines when not typing in patient name, his signature, etc, but the "meat and potatoes" of his dictation still needs to be transcribed. Usually once a patient note is typed, the EMR system will 'lock down' that note, so you can't always go back and edit. Good luck to you!
