It depends on which EMR Program you are using. I was able to type some tapes at home and then cut and paste them into the records -- I was being paid hourly and so the extra time it took was okay. You have to be careful to get them into the correct open chart note if the patient was seen twice of there are other open chart notes. The one that I typed in did have a type of auto correct options that I used instead of the templates. But again you are going to a menu and clicking on the phrase you want to insert. I cannot remember what the name of their auto correct was but it would be the same as if typing in word and you had to use the mouse to click on auto correct, then find the phrase you wanted and then "insert" -- it did take extra time. It was not like typing the three letters that you named the phrase and it automatically spelled it out -- you had to manually go up and highlight what you wanted to insert. They did have a spell checker but not as good as Stedmans and I loaded on Stedmans and it worked with it. Also each doctor had his/her own auto correct/templates and you had to be signed in under that particular doctor to use their phrases/templates. Like I said I was being paid hourly as there was not way you could do a line count on EMR. Good luck. The program I was using was Practice Partner -- now I remember it. I did a lot of mouse clicking. Any other questions ask away and I will try and remember.
