EMR

I just can't picture the doctors doing this work themselves, especially dictating and looking at the errors popping up on screen and having to correct them. Even the filling of forms electronically would get tedious for them in my opinion taking away from their time to see more patients. Sure, it might save them money not to pay a transcriptionist/editor, but if they are seeing less patients that decreases their revenue. There is also the question of upgrades when you use an EMR and that can be quite expensive. I do not think they will be saving money doing this. I say let the documentation experts (transcriptionists/editors) continue to do the job. In our hospital, the doctors are very spoiled and I just don't see happening here anytime soon. Of course, I live in Canada so our health care system is not profit driven.
