You're just beginning to think this? I have told everyone on both sides of the family that I work EVERYDAY, holidays included. I make no exceptions unless I WANT to go somewhere, which is very seldom. That's my excuse to not attend any function I don't care to attend, and this is accepted when I don't attend. May be too late for this year, but you could try saying you got called to work????

LOL - how 'bout dysfunctional since
Hey, my family puts the FUN in dysFUNctional!
RadGuy, you could start a blog and publicly post your family's antics for the whole world to see. Just kidding.... It sounds as if a cruise or weekend getaway is in order!
I think the majority of families in America are dysfunctional nowadays!
I have yet to find or meet a functional family.
My little family of 4, meaning me, my husband and 2 children are functional, but when you add in my side of the family, 5 siblings, and his side of the family 5 siblings, it becomes totally dysfunctional. Go figure!
I can only do the best with my own little family of 4 and keep us a functional, caring, productive family giving back to society in a positive meaningful way. I can not control the siblings or extended cousins, etc.
It is my goal to keep my little family of 4 functionally intact forever!
