Dumb things-word of advice

I'm tired and I just did the dumbeest thing and have to share it - I did a global search and replace to turn ER into emergency room and CAT into computed tomography - there are just tons of words with "er" in the middle and who would think about "cat" being in the middle of the word medications among others!

Dumb Question...Can You Do This in Word?
I know my way around Word pretty well, but am lost with this... . I know how to change the background, but don't want it to be that color when I zip it up and e-mail it to my boss.

Word of advice
I will be honest with you Becky, if you are a single parent, or if you need this as a primary source of income.....you might be surprised. It is great for me, I have benefits and I get to stay home with my little ones (2 yrs old, and 1 on the way) but it is only supplemental income. My husband pays the bills. I would not recommend doing it for a primary source of income.
Not saying it can't be done, just w/ my experience, it isn't a whole lot of money.
It is a very rewarding career though, and I love it.

Aside from the fact that near and far vision are not clear, not either one, they dry my eyes out until they are beefy red (takes about 2 hours), they are expensive and hard to used to. I HATE THEM.
I recently went to the optometrist who INSISTED that they make new ones, better ones, great ones and I would love them, I was just being stubborn. Ummm no I am not stubborn.
Then, he gives me 2 different prescriptions telling me I can't wear 2 of the same prescription, one in each eye, because I need to use one eye to see up close, the other eye to see far. Umm, no, I can't see at all when you do that!!!
For one, I have a 5 to 6 diopter convergence deficiency. Yes, I am a little wall eyed. I have an 8 diopter vertical gaze discrepancy...one eye points up, the other down...and they point outward at 2 different angles too. I can't do bifocal glasses because I can't see out of the bottom at all with one eye and not through the top with the other eye.
So...how do I do anything? Literally, my eyes move back and forth constantly. I don't see it, but everyone else does. One eye looks then the other eye looks and my brain makes one image of it. My eyes are an identical Rx because of this. I rely on this weird eye switching thing to see at all and truly I do WELL with it. Heck, I'm a trained artist too!
Magical middle-aged eye solution: Single vision contacts with cheaters. I have done this for years. I don't have to wear cheaters to see the computer because it is set back at a distance I can see very well. I have to use cheaters to read a book or a can label with small print. I can see the speedometer in the car and the road signs. It has been and continues to be the perfect solution.
Word has a wonderful help file. It will tell you how to do lots of things.

Sound advice from a fellow MT if you want advice or support (sm)
I have been an MT for over 10 years. I also am getting burnt out, tired of my job, day in day. However, I do love transcription and make excellent money at it, have grossed over $50,000 per year the last 5 years. I decided to go back to nursing school and am very happy with my choice. However, over these 10 years of transcription I have had my ups and downs. My biggest issue with being at home working is lack of socialization, being home day in and day out with just the kids and the animals really gets to a person, sure hubby is home at night and thinks working from home is the easy life, thus the return to school and boy has my overall enjoyment of life changed once I realized I was the problem, not everyone else and I needed to find myself again.
Anyway, my biggest advice to you three-fold:
1. Get into counseling for yourself, find out who you are and what your needs are, whether or not you think you need to, I sense you are feeling overwhelmed and need someone other than your family to talk to that can be nonjudgmental to your feelings and needs.
2. If you're only making $100 after you pay preschool you can either keep doing it and be miserable, or quit because you are lucky enough to have a husband who can support the family without your income. (See how fast his mind changes just by losing the income you do have as to whether your job means anything.) Or look for a different company or office that you like more and are more productive if you really want to do transcription (lots of fish in the sea as far as companies).
3. Find a local "mom's" group where you can get out and socialize. MOPS (mother's of preschoolers) is an excellent one that is nationwide, they have a website. Also Mom2Mom is in a lot of areas. They provide a once a week time for moms with kids the same age to get together, socialize, (some offer spirtual guidance some don't) and each week a different mom takes a turn watching everyone else's children at the facility that hosts it so the other moms can talk about things they have in common. Every stay-at-home and work-from-home mom needs to socialize with adults, without their kids, or they will have a nervous breakdown eventually no matter how much they love their kids.
Sorry so long but it does get better but you have to take the first step at making yourself happy.

As far as looters, if I had children and there was a bottle of water and bread in a store damn straight I would take it and feed my children. what is an STM? "Something" transcription manager? Are you by chance inundating her with requests or is it that she just does not acknowledge any of your e-mails? I don't think I'd put up with being ignored for too long. I'd seriously consider going over her head or looking elsewhere for work.

If you make a mistake while typing and you know it, do you correct it then, or do wait until you spellcheck to correct ? I tend to correct it when I see it, but began to wonder if it would be more productive to wait until I run spellcheck to catch it.

when the doctor says dig level in the labs is he meaning digitalis level? my Expander expands dig to digoxin and I never thought to change it. I know digoxin toxicity is dangerous. I have never gotten feed back on this potentially dangerous (?) blooper.
There are also those that pretend to be dumb so they don't have to. sm
And those that call in sick every other day, that if they were really sick that often, they should be in nursing home.
Needless to say, I got out of supervising because I did not want to hate people anymore, and I could be petty like everybody else and get away with it like everybody else.

I got an awesome poster on ebay that came in the mail yesterday. The one end of the cardboard tube was dented quite badly, causing the one side of the poster to be rather wrinkled.  Is there anything to be done for it? I'm hoping that maybe putting it in the poster frame I got for it might help. Any other suggestions?

I used to be young and dumb but
when I came into some money, quite a bit of it, paid all my bills off. I only have my monthly bills now, utilities and such. It is a wonderful feeling but to the original post, it is here money and really if she wants to burn it, she can.

Did you ever think she was just trying to make pleasant conversation about what happened to your daughter. I would not see question as dumb or unimportant. It certainly doesn't matter if she was, in fact, taking her history,but if she was just trying to be friendly then it's called 'engaging' the patient in conversation about her injury.

why have children if you are going to put them in daycare. When I was going to graduate school and working I became pregnant. I didn't expect my husband to quit his job and I sure enough was going to stop graduate school my six months. My triplets went to daycare and was fine.
