don't worry about it. some people sm
just want to argue. I have read between the lines on your posts and I truly get what you are trying to say.

Personally, if I were someone who could change things and use your services to do it, you would be hired.

The MTs that want to argue are going to be sitting here years from now doing this same old stuff adn complaining when the wages are down to 1 cpl.

The ideas you give can be used in any business. I wish the whole field of MT would go back "in-house" and forget all this working at home junk. Personally I wish somebody would make a law that says no medical records can be transcribed off of a facility site OR overseas. Would solve the problem and you would see a lot more professionalism in the business.

The biz could go back to new people coming in-house and being trained for a successful career and the crap would get weeded out.
Do not worry the posters below - some people will argue about ANYthing!
Hope your party is a great success! :-)
don't worry about frantic people who try to make a point by calling names.
They are immediate losers when it comes down to winning any sort of valid logical argument and you can see this person is a LOSER because they did not mention any companies to support their argument and instead lashed out at you. HOW SMART IS THAT?
and vice versa - the people acting like a big city life consists of living in a ghetto

Don't worry about it. In 5-6 years you'll have plenty to worry about!
A 10-year-old is never in a situation where anything can "happen," and they don't understand anything "happening" anyway. At this age they're only capable of "having a boyfriend" because that's what they see on TV - that's what the world "expects of us", to pair up and "like each other."

Her friends aren't talking about adult "things" to do in a "relationship" yet, and she doesn't even have those feelings, hormones, or needs yet so don't worry about it.

At 10, having a "boyfriend" is the equivalent to playing "dress up" or "make believe" and is just "sitting together in the cafeteria" at best.

Plus they move on to a new "boyfriend" in a week, a few weeks tops.

Relax, Mom. The part to worry about is yet to come and I wouldn't want to deal with that again for anything!

Best of luck and enjoy these years while you can.
This is why people have to wait so long when

You had better be life-flighted or you are waiting 4-ever because of these types of cases.  I had a doc when I was on staff say he asked the patient, How long have you have this boyle on your butt?  The guy said oh, about 3 weeks.  So the doc says, and you wait until 3 a.m. to show up in the ER to decide to get treatment? And, the guy says, yeah, I culdn't stand the pain anymore.  So the doc says, well, we're going to lance it, but unfortunately we can't give you any pain medicine for this procedure at 3 a.m.  The guy decided to see his primary in the a.m. and left.

As long as healthy, able-bodied people
are willing to maintain a poverty mentality and continue to be content to work a minimum-wage job without making any effort to better themselves, they will remain trapped in the misery they've created for themselves. There is no reason why able-bodied people in this country should not be able to provide adequately for their families. There is nothing noble or pure about abel-bodied people choosing poverty and misery just because it's too much trouble to improve one's life and it's so much easier just to get some mindless minimum-wage job or just sit and collect welfare. Their selfishness deprives the truly needy of the help and resources the rest of us pay for that should be devoted to helping those genuinely in need. If able-bodied people decide to make stupid choices--which includes not preparing for emergencies as well as the well-known stupid choices of breeding more children than they can support, choosing to bear children out of wedlock, choosing addiction, choosing to drop out of schoos, etc., etc--they should not automatically expect to be bailed out of the consequences of their poor choices. It has nothing to do with compassion or lack thereof. It's simple common sense.
Amen!some of these people have been out of social circulation way too long
LOL
As long as you're correcting people, think about "English."

People will be rude, and impose themselves, as long as you allow it. Once you put your foot down, a
It's just that it's too easy to impose on you. You have to stop them, kindly but firmly. I'm working now, and I cannot do that for you. They learn, they learn.
trailer parks have long been the but of jokes about the people who live in them.
You know that. If you choose to live in a trailer park that is certainly your right but sorry the stigma is there and I nor the OP created it. There was a running joke about Paula Jones (Clinton's "friend") being trailer park trash. Why? I don't know as I do not live in trailer park nor do I want to because I don't want the stigma. I was looking at property in North Carolina and there was no zoning regulation so the property was across the street from a trailer park which brought property values down. I am not making this up nor do I create it. It is what it is. Oh, BTW, there is a new show coming on MTV, a parody I think of the home improvement shows, where a gay biker type grit, tries to rehab trailer homes. Hilarious. Again, I didn't make it up nor stigmatize trailer parks. Someone took a concept of their idea of people and their trailer homes and ran with it. There is also the same idea in Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy on Comedy Channel.

Bottom line, there is a stigma to living in a trailer park and you have to learn to live with that. I personally can't live with the stigma and do not entertain the thought of moving to a trailer park. I think it would be hard on my kids to have that trailer park stigma on them as they enter school.
We don't hold people who are guilty long enough as evident in the Idaho case where the sexual

OFFENDER (a very real proven criminal) was given freedom to kidnap, molest and kill one of two children.  Then again we have that society reject who TOLD the police he was a sexual offender and would do it again.  He was free to kill the little girl in Florida.  Now you hear our wonderful system cannot use his confession because he did not have a lawyer present.  I see why the Arubans may think we are the pot calling the kettle black.

As for Mrs. Twitty, she needs to appoint a spokesperson before she does any more damage.  I don't care how emotional she feels, she really is clueless about what is going on internally in the investigation and she needs to realize this and quit commenting.

if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.

As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.
I hate Instant Text. It is expensive, long long learning
curve, and too much distraction for me.
How long should I wait after applying for a position before I follow-up. It has been as long as two
without hearing from some.  Just wondering if I should send an e-mail to follow-up to see if they received my resume or not.  I don't want to offend anyone but feel two weeks should be long enough for someone to at least acknowledge my resume and that I have applied for a position.  Right now I would accept anything even a note saying no thanks.  Any advice would be appreciated.  I haven't had to apply for a job for the past 10 years so I am a bit rusty at this.  Thanks again for any advice.
Congrats! How long have you been a MLS and how long did you study for the test!

Please see message. I have three daughters with long, long hair.
I also have long hair down to my waist and my three girls have hair that long too. My daughter brought them home from school last year. I was devestated and grossed out!!!! I have never had to deal with lice. Anyway, we did the treatments and two of my girls broke out in a severe rash with the OTC stuff. Their little heads were so sore!! I thought I was being meticulous with eggs, only to find them hatching again down the road. A nurse at the pediatricians office suggested I try oil to suffocate them since my girls were allergic to the lice solution. I bought a huge bottle of veggie oil and dumped it on all three heads, plus my own. I then wrapped the heads in platic wrap and then a towel. I left this on for 30 minutes. It takes a while to wash out the oil, but we never, ever had the lice or eggs again!!! If you try this, make sure you put on an old shirt and put a towel around your shoulders. Obviously we were desperate, but we all have such long hair and very thick hair so I was willing to try anything. And I figured there was no chemicals involved so that was pretty safe. And it sure did help my littles ones since their scalps were pretty raw from the solution. Hope this helps and Good luck!
It's been a long, long time since I've used a C-phone, sm
but I do think jobs can be paused.
Please do not worry about it.

Sometimes, it seems as if we do everything the way we know it's right, but they nitpick about everything we do.  I have proved my use of proper grammar documented with my college English books, but they come up with this, "That's how the client wants it" stuff.  OK, so why isn't it on my account spec sheet?

I think the trick is to find a smaller MTSO, one who believes as we do style-wise.  For example, I learned to use commas quite often.  At one national I worked for, it was NO commas period.  If you had two independent phrases connected by a FANBOY, you broke them apart into two separate sentences.  I worked for two other nationals and a hospital, and they never had a problem with my work.  It was just this one certain person at one certain national.  You should see some of the other things I was corrected on.  I wound up quitting because this person went against everything I learned in my MT course, at college, and in all my years of work experience.  This was not a good QA person, and other people on this board have worked with her.  (PRINCIPAL vs. PRINCIPLE)

However, the MTSO I currently work for gives me rave reviews.  I don't have to relearn everything again.  We evidently went to the same school of style!  LOL  Keep looking.  You'll find your fit.  It's no fun working in a constantly negative and nitpicky environment.

Of course, you don't worry. Don't want to get
qq
Not to worry.

When my husband was in the military and deployed, we had tons of "discussions" over finances.  It's a control thing.  He's gone and can't add his input into your decision making, so he feels a lack of control there.  I kept spreadsheets and quicken files to prove where I did or didn't spend money.  Then I'd send printouts to him so he could feel like he was part of it.  Granted, you shouldn't have to prove that you weren't blowing his money at the mall!  With my husband and I, our roles are reversed.  I'm the critical one when it comes to budgeting, bills, and finances.  My husband is more, shall we say, impulsive?  He'd be deployed and go sight seeing and out to eat because he'd never left our state before joining the military.  I'd be at home juggling the kids, the broken down car, the bills, my job, and everything else, so I'd get mad at him for having fun being the single guy.  Granted, some trips were definitely not fun for him.

Let's see, you two are married, therefore, his money is your money, your money is his, etc.  We had the whole his money, my money, our money thing going on as well.  Have you thought about a joint account?  Remember, he's responsible for supporting you and any kids you have, as well as for paying the bills.  DO NOT let him make you feel guilty about spending money on bills or the household or about not working.  I think the women of today have that problem.  Women of the '50s were expected to stay home, clean the house, cook the meals, and care for the kids.  Now, we're expected to do all that, plus work on top of it.  I tried being SuperMom for the first 8 years of our marriage before I snapped.  It's not worth it.  Don't feel guilty because you DO contribute to the household even if you don't have a paycheck.  He couldn't pay someone to clean the house, cook the meals, care for the kids, take care of your personal finances, and everything else that you do.

:))))) oh don't worry, I have

Don't worry. We all have to go through
the dreaded learning curve with any new job or account for that matter.

The more you work on the same account the faster you'll get so with you being full-time should help.

Oh and make sure you get plenty of samples for those difficult dictators and that you follow up on the blanks you have to leave them.

Is there another MT on the account that can give you some pointers?
Why worry.....
If you're going to get it, you're going to get it, and all the fretting in the world ain't gonna' change that. I mean, when you go out to check your mail, a car could hit the curb and run you down; are you going to worry about that, too?
I don't think you have to worry about any
subcontractors knocking down your door to work for you. You're generalization of "them" is what makes your posts so rude. We do not all look for excuses to not work. I work my shift every day unless I have an emergency. I do quality work. I do not bother my supervisor with stupid e-mails. After all, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. While I would agree that good MTs are hard to find, we are out here, and willing to work for a good company (which can also be very hard to find).
Don't worry. sm
Most of these little abnormalities are minor, not cancer. Don't lose sleep over this. Just follow your doctor's advice and don't worry!! This happens a lot, believe me.
Anybody know what living in Ky is like?

Don't worry
It do believe that ADHD is real, but you need to exhaust all other possibilities before you go there. It is a possibility that she has just not matured enough to go to school and would maybe do better if held back a year. During that time you can set her up with a predictable routine and practice focusing on different activities for a period of time. A friend of mine did that and it worked. No one accuses her son of having ADHD anymore
Don't worry, not just you...
I have heard things being mentioned here and there that it is ridiculous and that things we really don't need to know are on the test. I took it around 5 years ago and it was not like that, I passed it easily. I also saw some sample questions in the JAAMT a while back. We type it, we don't diagnose it for crying out loud! I have not tried this, though. Where did you find the sample test. Is there a website? TIA!
Don't worry.... (sm)
where one goes to EMR, there is another waiting in the wings for just the right transcriptionist.  It sounds like you are good at heart, and good things come to good people!  Maybe something even better will come your way!!!  We are all rooting for ya' and hope something spectacular comes your way!
Thanks - don't worry -

Yeah, I think it warrants a doctor visit.  I'll get it checked out and get a real ibuprofen dose.  (600 mg b.i.d.?)  Okay, I'll stop doctoring myself!

WORRY NO MORE
I hear you! I am worried about my future also with transcription. I have been doing this for over 20 years, but found HEAVEN recently in a travel program. Go to www.teamresult.com and watch the short video, you will see what I mean. E-mail me if you would like me to call you to answer questions.

I had this - nothing to worry about!
I had it about a year ago. It's called alopecia areata (I think). I didn't know what it was and I happened to see my hairdresser and she told me what it was. She said it can be caused by stress, or it come on for unknown reasons. Mine has grown back, although I have some nice short hairs there now! Not to worry!
No need to worry
MT is definitely not phasing out, but it is changing. MTs are now becoming editors like I am. I work for a hospital that uses EditScript, an amazing speech recognition program. Imagine putting out 500 plus lines an hour. That is how good it is. All the MT Editors use the same style and corrections and it remembers them and each time it recognizes the dictator better. Of course with that much production, we did have to layoff some MTs but because of the cost savings, accuracy and physician friendly program, this will be the future of MT. We will always be needed!
Should not be a worry
As long as the blanks are "good" blanks, you should not have to worry.

The company I work for would rather have us leave blanks than to guess, so even if we are "pretty sure" we know what they are saying but NOT sure, we are to leave blanks. - The same if we cannot verify something from a reliable source.

I have blanks every day. Some more than others depending on account and how well the dictators happen to be speaking.

Just do your best and don't fret unless they bring it to your attention.
we have to worry.
because of TAT, many companies are now outsourcing, not just for the price, but for the quick turnaround. and we also have to be concerned, as it impacts the amount of work available for the MT, when companies hire heavy for an account to keep the TAT and then the MT runs out of work.

yes, the eating while they dictate is my biggest peeve too.
Don't worry
Usually if you don't hear much about a company it's because there isn't anything to complain about.

Good luck with your interview.
don't worry about it. I take the sm
negativity and let it fly over my head!

The MTs that have been in this business for a very short time haven't had the experience to realize what you can do. It takes yeras and years and you really have to be a workaholic sometimes. They have already shown their attitude by the whole "I am not working weekends, holidays, nights, blah, blah blah" They don't understand this is what the job is.

My employers appreciate me also and let me know the same. It will never stop. There are always going to be MTs who rip the profession apart, say we don't what we are doing etc. etc. I would like to work along side of some of these MTs for a day or two and show them exactly how its done. I started when I was 22. to me that was pretty young starting from scratch and learning my experience.

Congratulations on your new job and I hope you love it!
And not like we don't all have enough to worry
about, but I keep asking myself that if this happens, what happens to our jobs?  Will the government hire their own transcriptionists to do the work?  Will they phase out all of the MTSOs (which in some cases may not be a bad thing, lol)?  Will things stay pretty much the same, the MTSOs get grants from the government for doing the work, our pay go down even further (not like any of us can afford that either?  Just things that I have wondered about since all of the talk about the government taking over healthcare.
You want to make a living don't you?
Then you listen to idiot dictators.  You want to be in the spotlight and be on TV, stay in Aruba.  You want to grieve the loss of your daughter privately, stay at home and appoint a spokesperson.  You ultimately make choices about what you do based on facts and necessities.  It is NOT NECESSARY for Mrs. Twitty to be in Aruba or if she decides she rests more easily in Aruba it is NOT NECESSARY for her to give press conferences acusing people of being criminals or incompetency.
Don't worry -- they are the unhappy ones...
doubt they will ever find satisfaction with their attitudes.

They should be pitied for their woeful disposition.

They are embarassing themselves.
Not to worry! You met my expectations!
nm
Don't worry about it. I used to cook like that, too.
I'd be so tired from working all the time that it was Hamburger Helper, fish sticks, or chicken nuggets. Our grocery bill used to be cheap, too. Hubby and I trade off cooking now. Honestly, we're trying to eat healthier to lose weight. It's a "hobby" that has helped bring us together more in our marriage. We find new recipes on the Internet all the time. Gotta have variety somewhere.... LOL
the living conditions

The only life they know is confinement and pain.  From the little I let myself watch, they have absolutely no room to move, they are crammed and shoved in together.  They don't get to roam and do whats natural to them outdoors.  They are being born and raised primarily to be brutalized for crop.  Like a canned food factory.  They get their body parts cut off, injuries from other animals, and have to live in physical pain until they are ready to be put out of their misery for whatever purpose they serve.

In all honesty, I absolutely love meat and enjoy it on rare occasions, and it is meant for us to consume.  There is another way to do it!  They cannot be treated as if they do not have feelings, they 'feel' pain, the mother's are distressed when their calves are taken away, the calves are scared, you see it in their eyes, as another living thing, you have got to connect with this.  Its an awful way for any living thing to go through, even in a short time.

I can see being raised on a farm, room to roam, be outside, run, eat normally, socialize with their breed, have a life.  They do not know the better that they are being raised for our consumption, there are living in peace without pain and living freely.  Being crammed, thrown around, beaks cut off, having throats slit, hung upside down while still alive thriving in pain is not a peaceful life.

Sounds like you are living beyond
your means or you've got absolutely the lowest paying 3 positions in the world, which still means you are living beyond your means if you can't afford to simply live.

The house pymt, car pymt and utilities and food -- those things are supposed to be put on "the paper" when you budget.

I feel for you but something truly isn't adding up here. I don't believe you're in as hot water as you say. SOunds like either super poor money mgmt or a strange sense of priorities.

Either way, good luck.

wouldn't that be the living end?

Talk about production!!!

However, that only works if the person who has dictated the voice file is also the one who trained Dragon on the system. IOW, Dr Smith has DNS 8 Med Suite in his office, and he's trained it enough to provide a good level of accuracy. He can dictate into the mobile unit, say, after seeing a patient, but things still have to be in the same manner that he dictates into DNS on his home system. He can give the voice file to his office manager to upload and do the editing.

But you can't do that with Dr Smith's dictation, unless Dr Smith has sat at your computer and trained it. As soon as you input the voice file, your system will give you a great big "do what?"

I hope this explains things better.

I wouldn't worry!
I was the same way in HS!! I am sure that she will grow out of it..it will just take time!
I agree - nothing to worry about. sm
But I did not find it faster than typing in the long run. When the doctor speeds up, the software starts skipping words, especially articles, and that takes a long time to stop every third and fourth word to insert a very short word that the software missed.
living it for the past 2.5 yrs---
my ex quite working a legal job so he doesn't have to pay support.  my 3 yo son was able to get insurance through the state but it was very hard to get (and didn't keep it) they don't cover that much. the state keeps rewriting the laws and cut benefits each time.  I'm an ic and have my own health ins for my son and myself. I'm robbing peter to pay paul right now and probably will be for a long time.  we're doing without a lot of things so that I don't have to take a job outside of the house not to mention that I couldn't afford full time child care.   I would try getting extra side jobs so that you could stay home.   I worked 3 jobs for 2 years and went down to one job that promised full time work a couple of months ago and needless to say they haven't kept up their end of the deal-as usual-so I'm looking to pick up at least 1 other job.  the peace of mind knowing that I'm here and flexible, especially if my son gets sick, isn't worth trading right now.
I don't want to worry about the IRS showing

up on my doorstep, so I have my taxes done by H&R Block.  No guarantee that you still won't have problems with IRS, but it makes me feel better.  I don't claim my house/utilities.  I don't claim nickel and dime stuff either.

When my mother died exactly a week later I get a letter from the IRS stating she owed $25,000.00 - no explanation.  I was freaking, not only was I grieving but having to worry about this.  I wrote a very nice letter, sent them a copy of her death certificate, and said I thought the issue was a roll-over of an IRA.   My mom didn't have much money and I knew that she had rolled over one so I was just guessing.   They sent me a letter a couple of weeks later saying the situation had been resolved and no monies due.  I  don't know what the problem was, but 5 years later I still have that letter.
