What temperature do you normally cook your fish at. I find sometimes that in the oven the fish seems
to have a lot of or water coming out and it doesnt get done nicely. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Spent 8 years in Florida
Have you tried the realtor sites? If you are looking to rent, use rent.com, apartmentguide.com, forrent.com. Also, go online and look at the online newspaper for that area.
The price of real estate is ridiculous there because of the demand. We once looked at a mobile home and I kid you not, the insulation was hanging out the bottom, no skirting, chickens running around, and the neighbors horses within 5 feet of the back door (free flies too). They wanted 800 a month with 2400 to move in. Even the apartment prices are pretty high for what you get there.
they spent 40 years in the desert.....
i was pointing out to my friend that in the bible they spent 40 years desert before they arrived...CMT spent 40 years collecting our money and we were snookered and got nowhere. In half a century (and AAMT were going to do great things for us, must we wait for the 100 year mark?). Paying dues, and nothing to show for it with the exception of their having meetings in fancy restaurants at exotic locations on your tab, and for this you get a pin, a piece of paper, and a magazine describing what a wonderful time they had at their seminar and to send more money.
married at 27; am still, 23 years later.

24, married 26 years now.
He was 27. We only dated 7 months. Although both knew what we wanted, and did not hesitate, I would recommend a longer dating period. We went into it with the idea that divorce was not an option. I know that everyone's situation is different. My brother and sister are each on their fourth go around. But people just don't think about marriage in the same way that they used to.
24, will be married 18 years on 10/3/05. nm

After being married for almost 19 years....its even better!
My husband and I have been married for almost 19 years and our sex is better now than it ever has been and there is no downloaded porn involved. 4 times a week after being married for almost 19 years is a good thing. But for the others remember its not the quantity but the quality that should count.
What makes you think that your love life has to fizzle just because you are married so long?????
Married almost 20 years
My first gut reaction would be NO, but it would depend on the circumstances. I think I would have a very hard time trusting him again and forget about the STDs that could be involved. OMG. So, I guess. I might be able to forgive him but the marriage would probably be over.
19 on wedding day, still married 16 years later.
18, will be married 26 years in 2 weeks.
I also don't recommend 18 yo's get married these days. They are JUST TOO YOUNG. MY HOW MY MIND HAS WARPED over the years.

Not a problem. I have been married 19 years and

I've never had a problem with my taxes.

Yes - Elton John just got married to a "Man" whom he has been with for many, many years.
I don't understand why you're shocked! He has been openly "gay" for upteen years & they have lived together for said upteen years! If you knew anything about Elton John, you wouldn't be "shocked." Where have you been ??

Try taking Fish oil
Try taking fish oil but make sure it molecularly distilled to get all the impurities out of it like mercury. That really does a lot for depression and anxiety and try to cut caffeine and sugar out of your diet. I notice a huge difference with it. It's hard to believe but its true.
Chinese fish
Most of the tilapia in the stores comes from China, catfish also.. Ask your meatman BEFORE you buy and only buy US produced cats and other fish... Its your body you are putting this contaminated food into.

Teach a newbie to fish
I don't think it helps them. I started looking at the Word Help board after I read a post earlier this evening about the low-level questions newbies are wanting answers for. One was something like "vigomatic...this is somewhere on the head." Are you KIDDING??? I couldn't believe it. I think it would serve this person much better to give him/her some ideas on how to find the answer rather than to just give the answer away. Just giving the answer away is not really helping them learn anything. It's just letting them copy your homework.
What's that saying? Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
In the earlier discussion I mentioned, someone thought posting on the board (in a virtual situation) was the same thing as asking a teacher for an answer in a classroom situation. Well, I think a great teacher in a classroom situation would do the same thing; i.e., point the student toward the dictionary or the encyclopedia or whatever, not just give away the answer.
I really have to wonder how someone can end up as a working transcriber & not know, or at least have been exposed to, the word "zygomatic" at some point. How did this person get a job? Scary, especially considering how protective we are of our field and how much better at it we think we are than anyone else on the planet.
There are no shortcuts. Every great working Transcriptionist has had to look everything up, has had to go through the unbearable period when getting through one report was like swimming through concrete. Are newbies these days under the impression that there is another way? Because there isn't.
HAHAHA - meaning fish don't use bikes....nm

U love beta fish? Aren't those the ones that kill
I remember my exhusband always had Japanese beta fish when we were married. As I recall, if my memory serves me well, these specific male fish impregnate the female fish and then when she has the babies, the beta (male) squeezes all life out of the mom and kills her after she has the babies. Just the idea of this made me hate this type of fish 4ever.
Just one person's opinion though! No flaming please! *LOL*
Henry's such a cute name, and I love beta fish
:)
How about grilled fish like salmon? Add a glass of wine and you're all set!

My old clinic spent (sm)
over $100,000 implementing an EMR system that claims to "replace dictation." Well, they'd have to sell it to doctors who are interested and have time to type in order to replace dictation. If nothing else, it increased my line count because of all the crap I had to add to get the notes uploaded to the system! I'd still be there if I didn't have to move.
My $375 was sooo well spent...
We have a cat and a dog - We have gone through a Fantom, a Hoover wind tunnel, and a Dirt Devil (not in that order, but you get it, about one vacuum every other year - kaplooey with the animal hair - yes I groom my animals but still...they shed)....I bought a Dyson a little over year ago, after seeing it on sale at Sears, looking it up on the 'net, and just being fascinated by the whole vortex deal. I also ended up using a gift card I had as well, which took a bite out of the price. Before buying, I asked the Sears Service Dept and customer service people their "scoop" on the Dyson - they had never had one returned....for any reason in our region of stores - they looked it up for me. I figured that was good enough for me ! I have had no problems whatsoever and absolutely love it. I should have started working at Sears on commission. I have sold 3 of them just by word of mouth..LOL! Gotta love the Dyson - especially with the extra motor in mine (the purple one) for the animal hair - it honestly doesn't ever lose suction!
90% of my day is spent on OPs and I LOVE it....nm

Disagreed with how it was being spent (sm)
I realize when you own property you don't have this option, but we're not into owning material stuff either.
Time spent...
Think about this....There will always be other jobs in transcription or heck anything else you might find of interest, but the bottom line is...Your kids are growing every second, and the time that you miss with them, you can never get back. So, if it were me, I would choose my time with my son any day.. Good luck to you.
Which way do you want it. You complain that he did nothing and you complain when he does something.

We can all sit here and complain.....sm
"OR" we can do something about it. I voiced my opinion to the editor of Advance. Web Address below. They really need a wake-up call, and I think together, we have the power to do it.

$40,000+ any you complain? About what
If some of you want to complain
Why the hell don't you get out of the MT field? All of the new people are trying to get help and encouragement here. I am sure all they need to hear is all of this nonsense. Others like me come to head about MT news, MT companies, and stay up with the times, and maybe get some advise here and there, and then I have to skim through this crap. If you don't want to be put down, then stop putting the MT field down...okay? Pfft, and you think I am going to stay away just because you said too..HA! Get over yourself.
Complain
You need to voice your concerns and complaints to both the clinic and the Insurance company. The clinic where I transcribed into EMR found that it was still easier to dictate than fill out all the information and some insurance companies did not like the "standardization" of reports. But voice your opinion, it might not help but will make you feel better. I basically told the doctor once, please look at me as you are not treating the computer screen nor is that paying the bill. Once patients do this and they have to do the charts after seeing the patient, it could change things around. Also write to your state boards or anyone that listens.
Why we complain!
Let me explain why I and some others have complained in the past:
1. I've been doing this for 25+ years and I am making much less now than I did before AAMT and I am still producing the same amount of lines!
2. I've spent more time (learning in an ever changing field) and more money purchasing new hardware, software, books and the "ever changing" BOS from our friends at the AAMT for which I will never be recompensed adequately.
3. The industry has been stolen from IC's by large corporations who pay their CEO's etc. and squeeze the Transcriptionist for pennies (in order to pay those large salaries).
4. I could go on and on, however, the last reason people complain here is not because we're "half-empty" types but because we do work at home and have no where else to speak with our peers and just "let our hair down". This website is not only to be cheerleaders, it is to serve the needs of all transcriptionists, even when we need to complain.
I consider myself a "half-full" person. I am grateful that I could work at home when my son was young. I am grateful that I don't spend a lot on commuting, work clothes, etc. However, I have had to pay for my own health insurance for years and I've taken quite a hit in the pocketbook. If you were to work twenty-five years in a profession, have a great reputation, yet see your salary go down instead of up, you'd complain too!
Lastly, not only rah-rah boosters are allowed to comment here. Us "old-timers" KNOW how much we've lost due to our friends at AAMT and the corporate "Johns" that have taken over the industry. So, yeah, we're allowed to b----! If not here, where?
why I complain
I think it's an apples and oranges thing. Liking your job for whatever reason and being paid a fair wage for said job are two different things. Ideally, you want both.
I complain because I feel we as MTs are being taken advantage of and are being toyed with by some companies who emphasize the perks of being able to work from home so we won't see the dirt under the rug of not being compensated equitably for said work.
I complain because in all the other professions I can think of, those who invest time and/or money for higher education to do the job (be it in school or on the job) are rewarded for that effort monetarily and we are not, at least to a degree where we can make a living commensurate with the effort put forth to do the job well and on a par with others in similar circumstances--starting at the bottom and growing in the profession. If it "takes years to learn to become proficient" then let's see that reflected in our paychecks. Some of you have that but it doesn't seem to be the norm nor are there hopes for it to be for the rest of us as we move up the ranks.
I complain because the companies emphasize how very important the medical record is and then treat us as mere typists, comodities who aren't worth the effort of trying to retain in their employ and by such an attitude pretty much giving the impression they don't need us anymore. Then they get into a fit when they get out of TAT and push us to work extra for mere pittance and either through intimidation or meaningless flattery try to get more blood from us.
I complain because I see all the hoop-la (sp?) about the newest technology that will supposedly enhance patient care (such as the EMR which some physicians don't review for a month or more and faster TAT with offshoring to those for whom American English is not their primary language) at the expense of job loss of experienced MTs within their own field of medicine and at the cost of actual endangerment to patient care when it all comes down to money and TAT and meeting line requirements and quality comes last. It's a weird feeling to be proud to be an MT and uncomfortable to be one at the same time.
I complain because I am frustrated and angry at the current state of affairs and I don't know what I can do about it. I would venture to say perhaps that is why there is so much "negativity" on this board and I think it is normal. We're not idiots.
