Does that new job description pass some of your duties to others so

you can do the transcription? If not, I guess I'd have to prove to them it can't be done in the same amount of time and look for another job while I'm doing that. After all, you'll still have to look for another job to supplement the lost income at home, right? If they're not passing some of your duties on to others, their request is out of line and completely sets you up for failure. Who needs that kind of pressure in their life?

I think that depends on what your duties are sm
If you are editing VR and give no feedback to MTs, than 3 cpl is low but the going rate for some companies.
If you are editing MTs and having to give feedback and everything else that goes along with QA - no it is not good pay. You should be paid by the hour.
Hope this helps!
and miscellanous other duties....sm
personally I think they are abusing you, too many duties for a QA person that have nothing to do with QA (miscellaneous other things and answering the phones)......I'd want $20/hour at least! *lol*
MT/ME here........not a QA person but am very interested in doing QA work....
CNA Job duties in Florida
Does anyone know if a cna can give injections, administer local anesthesia (lidocaine) in the state of Florida?????
CNA Job duties in Florida
What I am trying to figure out, is that I work with a CNA (as a head nurse! figure that out) that gives patients kenalog injections and also numbs patients before minor surgery with lidocaine. I don't think this is legal. She also works for 3 years as a head nurse without being certified. She never renewed it.
Well since your an MT also, I didn't feel the need to go into our job duties...
I was making a point that we do not have as much education as these doctors do so get over yourself...while I wouldn't mind making 75,000 a year I certainly don't expect it...give me a break!!! and it is insipid argument by the way...since you called another MT stupid, figured I would call you out on something too...
Your job description probably
has a statement similar to AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED . I would suggest that you have them lighten up your transcription requirements, however, for the period of time you are working on the transition process. If you are missing out on incentive while doing this other work, then definitely, I would request my average pay for this period of time. It would not be fair for you to in effect take a pay cut to help them out in this process. Otherwise with pay being equal, I would welcome with open arms a temporary break from transcription, know what I mean? Good luck to you.
In your job description, there is probably
and "other duties as needed." So, that would cover the Excel grid. In the Meditech system, I used to have to associate charges to the report. If the charges were not there, then I had to put them in myself, go back to the report, and then associate. This was onsite hourly job.
So, I guess the answer to your question is no, you probably are not just supposed to do transcription. The doctor obviously needs you to do the billing grid or they wouldn't have asked in the first place.
Good luck... It is all part of the business.
Here is the IRS description...
that I explained above :
To find the business percentage, compare the size of the part of your home that you use for business to your whole house. Use the resulting percentage to figure the business part of the expenses for operating your entire home.
You can use any reasonable method to determine the business percentage. The following are two commonly used methods for figuring the percentage.
Divide the area (length multiplied by the width) used for business by the total area of your home.
If the rooms in your home are all about the same size, you can divide the number of rooms used for business by the total number of rooms in your home.
Example 1.
Your office is 240 square feet (12 feet × 20 feet).
Your home is 1,200 square feet.
Your office is 20% (240 ÷ 1,200) of the total area of your home.
Your business percentage is 20%.
Example 2.
You use one room in your home for business.
Your home has 10 rooms, all about equal size.
Your office is 10% (1 ÷ 10) of the total area of your home.
Your business percentage is 10%.
Use lines 1–7 of Form 8829, or lines 1–3 on the Worksheet To Figure the Deduction for Business Use of Your Home (near the end of this publication) to figure your business percentage.
Good description, I'm sure!
It was about 6 years ago in an outdoor arena. My daughter was probably 14 and son was 19. What stories they came back with!!
...the drunk that fell on their dad, the rockin' 40-somethings, the great music... and the aroma LOL.
Most of all they loved the the music. My daughter had just started making the circuit of the current music concerts. The Who was quite a different experience for her. No crowd surfing LOL
They better get that description straight
Im sure that they made a mistake but that really is not helping on our self esteem. Maybe we could write our representatives to rectify the problem?
Very accurate description...
Your post is exactly right! Great post! (A physician friend made the same comparison--that he only needed to know one specialty while the MT must be familiar with all--great post!)
Help me decipher this pay description.
Chronial Transcriptions: MT daily: Line rates based on 55 black character line, 0.08-0.09 DOE and test results. Let me venture a guess. A 55-black character line would mean 55 strokes, spaces not counted? DOE? What's that? I thought that was the (US) Department of Energy.
That's not a standard description, so
you can only be sure by asking the person who used it.
I believe your description is correct (sm)
I have been doing SR (speech recognition) for a couple of years now. You may find that some dictators are very close to what shows up on the screen and others way off. I find that speeding up the voice and keeping my cursor right where the voice is (usually Ctrl right arrow, but yours may be different) helps me to make corrections quickly. If they talk real slow, look ahead a little and make obvious corrections before you get there. For repeated mistakes that the VR doesn't correct, make your own correction expansions to add on to the end of a word to change it to what you want so you don't have to change the whole thing. These are things I have picked up on the boards and have helped a lot.
I noticed at first that I could sit for longer periods of time than with transcribing because it went faster. You get into a rhythm pretty quickly and move fast, but you need to because VR is usually paid at a lower rate even though the same level of expertise is required (grrr). The trick is not getting too bored with it, which the looking ahead as they talk helps me with.
Hope this is helpful.
Are you kidding? If this is not the description of accident, I don't know what is
According to your description of accident, this is it! What could possibly be foreseen about this? Ther is no way that this is the fault of the parents? While you certainly can bring a 2-year-old to the hospital, how feasible is it if the labor is anything more than 2 hours? DUH! You just CANNOT bring a 2-year-old to the hospital while having another baby. Obviously, the parents had great confidence in their friends ability to watch their child.
The person significantly at fault is the driver. So much so, in fact, that it is illegal to hit somebody and run!! Please don't give any excuses for the driver. I had a bird fly into the windshield of my car and it literally shook the car (a minivan), so don't tell me that someone would not feel more than a "board in the road" when running over a 2-year-old! Give me a break!
Google INFJ and you will get a description. nm

FDP_2006 sent me an E-mail with description:
Anyone know what this is? It has an attachment so I am not going to open it unless I am positive it isn't a link to a madman's web page.
Thanks!
Well, maybe vertically was the wrong description
how about round and round, as opposed to side to side??
Description of any pus (no matter where it is coming from)
Drivel is a perfect description!
And, oh my,my, how very ''narrow minded'' of U.S. MTs to object to having their jobs given away and their wages stagnate! Your post is right on!
great description. Never thought sm
of it that way. But sure seems like there is more QA than there use to be. That could be because there are so many new MTs (not knocking the newbies) that the companies are hiring for less money than they deserve so they can get cheap labor. That and the biggest problem, OUTSOURCING!
saw it on monster-- "a too good to be true" job description-
for info and see what kind of a response I get. Don't want to send my resume unless it seems legit. I have 2 jobs now, just fishing for something better.
Cherrypicking - such a cute description for theft.

Get a Google Toolbar, description and link enclosed
I have a Google search toolbar at the top of my browser. It's a small line like the address bar but it says Google beside it and I just type in my searches there instead of going to Google first, etc. I've found it very easy to use. Of course, as with anything there are extra parts to the program, I just added the basic tool bar and went to options and only kept the parts of it that I wanted on my toolbar. It makes searching a whole lot easier, all I need to do is bring up the internet and my search is at the top.

Good luck rebuilding your ShortHand. I back mine up to a little portable drive on a keychain, I'd be lost without my ShortHand.

RUN AWAY!!!! Do not pass go, do not buy their
lousy worthless software and footpedal. They are also known as TranScam. There are complaints against them with the BBB and ripoffreport.com. Even a national parenting magazine published an article about their scam methods.
You can download Express Scribe for free to play sound files at http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/
You can purchase a footpedal online for under $50.
As for my own experience with them, I am a college grad, took a medtrans course, and have worked in MT for 8 years now. I wanted to see if what everyone said was true, so I applied with TranScam. They even pulled it on me! My test file was perfect, but Alan said I needed mentoring so I could work for him for free after I purchased the $400 program. I don't think so, dearie. I don't know how that guy lives with himself. He must be one of those masochists who thinks he's so superior to women or something.
Don't pass this up!

Did I pass?
If you don't want the job, please pass it on to me! :) nm

Thanks Jay (V?) - will pass it on too...nm
this too shall pass
Stop, take a breath and look around you. Really think hard about what's important. If you had to leave your home for a small and less expensive one, would it be THAT bad? If a vehicle got repossessed, would it be the end of the world? I have learned from age and experience just not to sweat it. You can only do what you can do.
Appeal the medical bills that weren't covered. Find out from the ambulance company why they were denied payment...been there, done that.
Everybody has problems...I got stiffed out of 2 checks by my prior company, went to work for another national, been there a month, still haven't been paid, though they keep telling me it was mailed. No pay now for nearly 3 months. If they turn the cable off, big deal, I'll listen to the radio. It gave me a good opportunity to clean out the fridge since there's nothing in it!! Worry only about your health and your husband's health, stress can make you ill....and it DOES.
or a DAY AT THE SPA pass.....nm
I will pass that one along to her, thanks!...nm

Did you pass? nm

That is so funny.... I must pass it on

Please read and pass on...
I received this via e-mail...so you know how things get started on the Internet, but if it's true, I won't be buying Pepsi anytime soon..
Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge, "Under God." Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone. In that case, we don't want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either! So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended when they don't receive our money that has the words "In God We Trust" on it.
I will pass this along to my hubby. He's always looking for new...
investment opportunities.
Very thoughtful of you! Thanks!
Maybe you could pass out fliers and
give your number or e-mail address, and just see what kind of response you get and go from there with setting up a meeting time. Have the first meeting at your house.
What are you smokin'? Pass it over here! :)
Please pass on the name of the company you went with s/m
You do not currently use ExText at all. What company using ExText did you leave? TT ?
What platform are you using now. Would you mind sharing this with us.
Yep, you get the free pass, right?
Because everyone there knows your names? Bigspenders!! I knew you said were going back soon and that is what we are doing, probably in August sometime. Hubs likes to wait until it gets around 110 and he is happy. Ugh for me! I took my kids when they were younger to loads of places so now my time and even if I am up in years don’t care, get assistance at the airport if I need and still go on my merry way. After I get these bills out of the way, my intention is going at least twice a year for myself- hubs can wait until that 1 trip a year to Las Vegas. Never stayed at Harrahs- saw the show there, wonderful. Wish they had the really big stars in LV like they used to - when I got to where I could afford, Elvis, Frank and the likes gone. Might go and see George Carlin, have always liked him and his wraped sense of humor. Again, hubs will be at the Rio with the all you can eat seafood buffet!
If you passed the CMT before, I'm sure you can pass it again... (sm)
especially since you have an additional 7 years of experience. Someone told me they make you listen to the dictation snippets without the use of a foot pedal. Really...that is funny. What MT would work without a foot pedal? Unless of course they were a double amputee. Sorry I'm so wordy tonight. I just got done with my shift and am a bit punch drunk at 3 am.
Anyway, the RMT is just for new graduates to test their basic skills.
Good luck with your CMT recert. I have my 2 years at the end of the month and am thinking about taking it myself.
CMT pass score
Can anyone tell me what is the score required to pass the CMT exam?
Thank you, I will pass along your kind words to him.
Thank you for taking the time to write back. It is really helpful and I appreciate your kind words. Thank you for the prayers! I will pass along your kind words to him. Bless you and have a great day.
I can't pass a typing test, LOL. I am so
used to using an Expander that I can't even type a sentence without a mistake in it.
Tell him there is only ONE that is qualified to pass judgment
on you, and he's not the ONE.

Tests, cannot pass typing
part and yet I have been tested (not under pressure) at 140 per minute. I failed another typing (yes, that’s right) test when I had my hands off the home keys and it all came out garbage. I do lots of lines per day in transcription but it is just me and my kitties here.
Yes, they do. If you can pass their test, you can work for them
We were all newbies at one time. There are companies that hire newbies. You just need to find them. Try the big nationals or small MTSOs with clinic notes. Or you can start out with Worker's Comp, physical therapy, chiropractors, vets, dentists or insurance, and then transition into full MT after you've finished your training and education. Try working on-site in a doctor's office or in a hospital. Once you've proved you can do the work, they'll often let you work at home. Be proactive instead of reactive.
it could be worse, pass the napkins
A couple of days ago I typed "an alert, robust meal." Sure glad I proofread.
