Do you find it time consuming

preparing everything? I need to get back on it and the only showstopper is time. The last time I was on it (obviously didn't stick to it) I lost 25 pounds but found preparing the meals and snacks was time consuming. Please Email me. Thanks.

I think it's more time consuming to
I prefer to edit/QA what an MT has typed any day. In my opinion, VR is can be the pits for the most part. Every now and then, I'll get a VR report with just a few errors, but most of the time, there are tons.
I have seen some posts where people claim to get 600 lph doing VR editing. I'm not one of those people. I am paid 3.5 cpl for VR editing and make about $9/hr doing it.
Yes they are very time consuming.
They have to be done and nobody likes them. What would you suggest?
IT is bulky, time consuming, sm
I hated it when I used it with MD-IT, but then MD-IT Louisville division was awful too.
Sounds time consuming, actually
I suppose it could be productive if someone really dedicated themselves to learning a word for every key on their keyboard but I don't see how it could actually work...seeing as how there are more words in the english language than there are letters on the keyboard.
Sounds like something a court reporter might do but even then they have to use a stenograph to do that with, you can't just do it with a regular keyboard.
A little hard and time consuming to figure out
If you do 300 lines per hour of 65 characters with spaces, no bolds, no caps, etc.then that would be at an average of ten words per line, 12 courier font - 1 inch margins, and so that would be 3000 words per hour divided by 60 which is only 50 words per minute. Your speed on transcription is different than regular typing as you have to account for stopping, listening, correcting, etc. For reqular typing speed I would double what your transcription speed is. I would tell them what my average transcribed line count is and tell them to figure out how that turns into words per minute.
If you don't take the time to find to do things
that give you joy you'll become a bitter old woman and you'll always have regrets that you gave so much of yourself to your job.
My mother died of cancer, she fought it for 17 years, but she was just 50 when she got it and the chemo damaged her heart so that she had no quality of life and she wanted to go to the beach one more time.
My father worked hours and hours, OT and weekends, and neglected his family, not out of financial need - not sure why exactly. He developed Alzheimer's in his early 60s, was not able to enjoy retirement and it didn't matter that he had $100,000 in the bank because he didn't know who he was, didn't know who I was, was in diapers, couldn't feed himself, etc.
Make the time to do what you enjoy, if only for 15 minutes a day. If $$ is an issue, use coupoons, buy off brands, shop yard sales, etc.
You can work until you last breath and they'll still be calling you to help with the backlog. The company doesn't care about you, doesn't care if your children are sick, if your parents are dying, if you are puking your guts out, so why should you kill yourself for the company.
I find that if I slow down and actually take time
to use my ShortHand Expander properly, my lines go way up. If I just start typing faster and using only the small 1 or 2 word abbreviations I use all the time, I get no where fast. You see, I have thousands and thousands of abbreviations, but the real time saver is the phrases and normals I have at my disposable. I just have to slow down and watch the Shorthand window. It may seem like you are wasting time scanning the list of abbreviations, but it's the only way to really churn out the lines. You also tend to make fewer mistakes requiring backspacing when you slow down and pay attention to the abbreviations window.
I would try to find something part time (sm)
in acute care, even if it is 7 cpl. Keep your other job, but do the acute care to get the experience. You will probably be slow and have to look up a lot, but the more you do it, the better you will be at it and then you will be able to move to a different company with better pay.
It will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. You get more money either way.
time to find a new cardiologist!
If that doctor admittedly is more concerned with saving a few dollars than he is with the quality of his patient's medical records, then who knows where else he might be cutting corners - and how much he's overcharging his patients!
Your mom definitely needs to thank him for his honesty regarding what is most important to him and then inform him she won't be putting her life in his hands any longer!
By dates. Find a time when you SM
are relaxed. Then go back, starting from course completion or first job. Just go date by date until current. Funny you mentioned this, since I was just reviewing mine. It's not easy when you're tired, so if you are a Nightowl, try it in the morning or any quiet time. I don't believe you need to put exact dates, just the year and any person who was your supervisor or anyone you want as referral. There are also sites online that might help, but not with your dates. :)
Example: (Basic)
MT course completion: 1990.
Smith Hospital 1991.
MQ 1991-Fall 1991.
Jones Hospital 1992.
MQ 1992-1993.
List all types of work done. All of them.
I did all the time when I worked there but have moved on to find
..
I don't think it is a waste of time, nor do I find it long to do at all
Don't feel ill - it look me a very long time to find it and you can too.
Search, search and search some more. You will be surprised what you can find. It takes time, but those accounts are out there. How do you think MTSO and large MT companies get accounts? A little research and many phone calls.
Find my reports changed all the time.
In ChartScript you can view and edit previous reports. Anyway, I have found tons of my work which I know is not the way I typed it. I just let it go and so far have they have not said anything. If, however, I was told about these mistakes I would say something even though I know QA would be right. Agree, they think they know it all and some really don't know jack.
No but I wish people would take the time to find this information. sm
Sometimes it just takes the effort to look. I see people wanting information. The information is easy to find, but they want others to do the research and hand it to them. I had to do the research. I now have 20+ docs/clinics BUT key point is I did all of my own research, learned about how digital works, etc. I truly believe, the more you read (research) the more you as an individual will learn and therefore be able to offer your clientm more.
Sounds like time to find different co to test for.

When you stop caring, it is time to find
It does not matter if you do QA or greet people at Wal-Mart, if you don't care it is time to find something else to do.
It isn't just about you that QA makes these changes. QA is doing their job to their employer's expectations. Either take it as constructive criticism or leave, but don't make someone else pay for your lack of concern. Having done everything in a medical office from scheduling appointments to transcription to bill collection, I can honestly say that quality matters - it matters to someone, somewhere - and if you are not in that loop, please for the rest of us that still care even after close to 30 years of this business, please, please take yourself to someplace you can be happy.
I do not agree with every nick-picking change QA makes, but I don't dwell on it or stop caring. I keep plugging away at doing the best job I can. I am doing something where I make good money and feel like I have an impact on patient care without having face-to-face patient contact or co-employee issues that come with working on-site.
So, go, shoo, get, go on now. Let me have your work.
Thanks for the link. I will update as soon as I can find time to learn it.

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

Cannot legally require you to commit time to them as an employee and then not pay you for that time.

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
Maybe they will. Give it time. It takes time to set up links.
OSI, Precyse, etc tell us more.
full time, part time, statutory
newly defined full time...
newly defined part time....(which is an added classification)
I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.
full time/part time/statutory
The definition of full time is new.
There is a new classification called part time.
I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
I work 1 full-time, 2 part-time....nm

part-time or full-time
I'm curious. Are you FT or PT? Thanks.
4 week's time or 4 weeks' time
Does anyone know this one. I will see the patient back in 4 week's time, 4 weeks' time or 4 weeks time. Can't seem to find this in any of my reference books. Thanks in advance.
1 full time and 1 part time for now
I am still pretty new, so that is all I am taking on. I may take on more after I get more experience, if possible.
I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)
even ISPs have to do maintenance from time to time--sm
and most do this during the wee hours of the morning when MOST people are sleeping and not using the internet. They need to upgrade their services and virus protection just like the home users. This is probably what occurred.
I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time. I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.
Do we enter each time there is a new prize, or just the one time?
thanks.
Not 1st time, wont be happy the 2nd time and

Virtually never. Time spent doing that is time SM
that could be spent typing. Instead of stopping to listen, then typing to catch up, I scan AHEAD of the dictation as I type, looking for upcoming questionable areas.
