I'm TRULY, TRULY SORRY. I DIDN'T take the TIME
to LOOK UP a fairly hard to spell word, just posted on a board, not at work, MIND YOU. SEND THE SPELLING POLICE AWAY, I GET IT. I've heard what's been said. I'LL CERTAINLY BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME!!!!!!!
Didn't see last night but saw the first time and...
remember having that same feeling. Couldn't believe the husband was doing her work as if anybody could do it.
Yes, it just didn't help to be unemployed for 2 months at that time.
We got a shutoff notice for Christmas with snow on the ground.
sorry, didn't realize there was a time limit. I
personally just read some of the posts.
Sorry, I meant didn't have to do it at home full time

I didn't originally plan on it. At the time I learned about - sm
MT, my sister had just started doing MT for a local hospital, and was learning on the job. I was a temp. office worker at the time, couldn't really find anything that was a good fit. My sis thought I'd be good at MT, and I came to visit her at work one day and she let me listen to and try to transcribe some tapes that she was already finished with. I liked it, so went to night school to learn medical terminology. I was offered a job at a transcription company (using mag-card typewriters back then, which were the 'latest thing') and have been doing MT ever since.
I am fairly new with my company and I tried the control Y one time, and it didn't work, so I thou
into the "global" normals, I will play with it again and give it a try. How long have you been doing transcription? Have you stayed with the same company for a long time? I worked at a clinic for 6 years, hospital for 8, and now this new national for 3 months.....I hate feeling new!
Well of course we know that now. Back then we didn't because he didn't allow unfettered access.

right we children didn't tattle to the administrator did we. BTW, didn't you think we were
because some half-witted idiot said everyone was jealous because some other anonymous poster said they were going to be a doctor. Didn't they call it doctor envy. Oh yeah, that was all about you wasn't it busy-body MT. You with your degree and premed but yet you still post here and acuse others of jealously. I dunno but you and dano seem so close, I can't put my finger on it but I would say you could be computer clones. Jealous indeed. Children indeed. I think you are blowing your covers) dano and busy body MT. This whole "jealously" thing makes me think that you may be one and the same poster.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm

Didn't you tell me?!?!? No, Liza, you didn't tell me. Hooray for you! lol

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

Cannot legally require you to commit time to them as an employee and then not pay you for that time.

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
Maybe they will. Give it time. It takes time to set up links.
OSI, Precyse, etc tell us more.
full time, part time, statutory
newly defined full time...
newly defined part time....(which is an added classification)
I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.
full time/part time/statutory
The definition of full time is new.
There is a new classification called part time.
I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
I work 1 full-time, 2 part-time....nm

its a waste of time yet you take the time to respond?
**yawn time for your bed time old thinker*
Hippie?? What pray tell is a hippie? Im not judgmental..I dont care what another is partying about or with or whom they are with..Im not a cop or the warmonger in the White House..far be it from me to judge another..You, however, by your post seem to have grown old before your time..I recommend you just graze on your back yard grass and leave us **alive ones** alone..**yawn**, time for you to go to bed now, hun? Bye..bye..old person..
I do believe she is good enough, and has more than proved that time and time again. NM

part-time or full-time
I'm curious. Are you FT or PT? Thanks.
4 week's time or 4 weeks' time
Does anyone know this one. I will see the patient back in 4 week's time, 4 weeks' time or 4 weeks time. Can't seem to find this in any of my reference books. Thanks in advance.
1 full time and 1 part time for now
I am still pretty new, so that is all I am taking on. I may take on more after I get more experience, if possible.
I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)
even ISPs have to do maintenance from time to time--sm
and most do this during the wee hours of the morning when MOST people are sleeping and not using the internet. They need to upgrade their services and virus protection just like the home users. This is probably what occurred.
I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time. I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.
Do we enter each time there is a new prize, or just the one time?
thanks.
Not 1st time, wont be happy the 2nd time and

Virtually never. Time spent doing that is time SM
that could be spent typing. Instead of stopping to listen, then typing to catch up, I scan AHEAD of the dictation as I type, looking for upcoming questionable areas.

Still going strong!
SO the little one takes up your time yet you have time?
LOL
I have side this time and time again
It's crazy how these nationals or even smaller MTSOs think that we should be working set hours as an IC or even set lines as an IC. I totally stay away from those companies. Also, stay away from the ones that keep you on messenger (like Advanced in Oregon) or require you be logged in their platform, etc. or require a time clock as an IC. This is against the law. They cannot clock you and expect you to work certain hours under an IC status. They are getting away with it though, time and time again. It's a shame what we MTs put up with in this profession for pennies!!!
you have no time to switch from board to board? how can you have time to look for the drug?
x
Does anyone know if you are a part time employee for 1 company and part time IC for another can you
still claim deductions for IC on your income tax even though you are one of each.
Depends on how part time the part time jobs are.
You can do it. You just have to work out a schedule you can live with.
$32K/part time 6 months/full time 6 months
I have kept my child home with me half the year, but when pre-K started I began working full time. Helps to only have a main account and one backup account for the 2nd year now, so my abbreviation program rocks and rolls when I focus.
Didn't know you could do that...
I didn't know you could pick and choose, thought you just went with what came onto your computer.
Didn't know
How come Transcend isnt allowed to post here? Because of taking on new clients? I dont understand what that means. They don't offshore, right?
Wow. Didn't like that one bit.
I feel sorry for the employees. I can't believe they were making that much inhouse! I was only making $12.00 and had to answer phones, file, photocopy, greet patient's etc. I left to do this and actually make a bit more (and saving tons on gasoline), but to be making $150.00 a day and have benefits? That's gotta hurt. My former employer "offered" benefits, but my health insurance was nearly $600 a month out of my pocket. My husband insures us now for half that. I can't imagine not having that.
I was offended by the part of the article that referred to at home transcriptionists making errors, etc. I know for a fact that most big companies do not hire "newbies." My poor niece was under the impression that all she had to do was take the MT course (don't remember the name, but it was a good one). Even though she graduated early with high honors, she still can't find a job with a national. She found a few local accounts and is only making 5.5 cents per line.
I don't know about everyone else, but I've been doing this for 16 years and I found the "testing" for nationals frustrating! I thought I failed miserably and was shocked when I was hired as my testing was 98% (2 of four dictators being fast talking ESLs and ER reports which I have never done and won't do again).
Ad in my paper today says: "You too can work at home! Become a Medical Transcriptionist!" Seminar held at the holiday Inn and the ad gives the impression that anyone that can actually use a keyboard will be hired right off and make tons of money.
No way, tell me they didn't...sm
"they took out internet fees, insurance, etc."
Maybe I misunderstood the above. You don't mean your regular benefit deductions from a paycheck, do you? I can understand taking out taxes, but I'd raise holy heck about taking out benefit deductions. It certainly is not a regular payroll paycheck.
Along those same lines, I recently separated from a company that I worked for 2-1/2 months. When I first started, I had signed up for health insurance and the flexible spending account. You know, there's usually a 3-month waiting period before these benefits begin, and before they start taking out the deductions. Since I gave notice before the 3 months was up, I was shocked to see they began taking the deductions out on my last paycheck. I told the supervisor that I wanted that money back. They did make me wait for the next payroll, but I received that money back just today! It's worth a try!
2 cents, huh? As if you're not insulted already by the fact that they cheated you in the first place. The MTs should demand to know how they arrived at their amounts, and then be able to verify it.
I worked for them for 2 years and my line counts rarely matched theirs. Supervisors could not explain the discrepancy either. Two months after I quit, the news about the MT class-action lawsuit came out. Personally, I don't trust them.
Have a great time shopping on your unexpected money!!
I didn't have any out of the NE
yesterday either...the Warminster office. Haven't checked yet today...almost afraid to!
No I didn't see
Scarborough Country last night. This whole mess is so sad and government at all levels is a disgrace. People quibbling over whether they are "refugees" or "evacuees." How utterly ridiculous. Not to mention the quibbling over those who deserve help and those who don't. Those who have already been receiving social services from the government will continue to receive priority help from the government and those who are trying to help themselves will be forgotten just as they have always been.
