I'm one of those people with lots of education; it just wasn't in the medical field, so I know about the learning curve. (Grin.) I just wanted to give you a heads up that my personal opinion is that you would be wasting your money investing in the courses to get into this business.

Have you thought about going to your doctor for help before your COBRA runs out? You still have almost 5 months before it runs out, that's only 10 lbs a month and with a doctors help should be possible.
Don't want to sound rude, but it is not propietery to one company.
I was just hired by a hospital that uses Enterprise platform and ASR is not part of this platform.
Maybe they outsourced at one time to that company, but not now and they use Enterprise.

The sound is crystal clear. (meant Soundblaster)......
Although I googled video cards as my other computer's video card went out but the external boxes did not have good reviews, so hired a technician to come to my house and install the video card, $177.00, but I couldn't afford to mess w/my computer and be out of work, so I would certainly recommend the external sound box.
I didn't think it meant anything any more.
It used to be English gentry below a knight, or a landed proprietor. Bill and Ted used it in their Excellent Adventure, and they weren't even high school graduates.

No, just meant that I would rather keep looking than to settle for lower standards. If that means I don't get that extra splurge at the end of the month, then it's worth it to me.

Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?
I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers. Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer. Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card? Did it make a difference.

Not so sure if it is rude...
A lot of these places just seem extremely disorganized, a real mess. I had 2 places "hire" me for part time work and never got employment papers, contracts or anything until I finally had to ask. Ultimately I did not take either job, cause I figure if they cannot get this together, what happens to the paychecks?

Thats someone I would not want in my life because it would be a roller coaster. Friendships are rare and you need to try really hard to preserve them and if you're doing that, then you deserve someone who will do the same back. I know, hard to find. I also sound a little "short" on the phone (i've been told this several times by dif people) and I explain to them nicely that I do get in this weird zone in that I want to get my work done and i'm still in that zone when the phone rings.

I understand what they mean, but that was rude. I tried to train a lady in her 60s and after 40 solid hours of just trying to teach her to save files, I gave up. In the process, when I asked her what was on her desktop, she hesitated and said "uhhhhh...my coffee." You'd think everybody would have a basic fund of knowledge since we haven't used typewriters for at least 20 years now, but some just cannot grasp it.

You can have degrees coming out of your ying yang, but it doesn't make you better than any other person. You've failed miserably at learning the most important lesson of all along the way: How to treat people.
So get over yourself. Someday you're going to slip off your self-erected superior pedestal and break that special finger that you flash at everyone.

Or maybe you could do something you've needed to do for a long time but keep putting off: TAKE A CHILL PILL AND CHILL OUT before you pop a vessel! GHEESH!

Did not mean to be rude but it seems like this is so often stated that as an IC "you pay your own taxes and as an employee you do not" that I just though I would emphasize that you do not pay your own taxes, you withhold your own taxes as an IC. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

at all about my situation. I left there by choice, they begged me to stay and have even called me since I left to ask that I come back - doesn't sound like I couldn't cut it to me. I do not now, nor have I ever worked as an IC, not that that has anything to do with anything.

Don't judge until you walk a mile in our shoes. You don't even know the C*R*A*P we have to deal with day in and day out. Especially from subpar MTs who think our only job is to fill in the blanks they are unable or unwilling to.
Not everyone is as conscientious as you seem to be. Most do not bother to transcribe the "bulk of the work" but decide to leave it to us in QA who, after all, do nothing but fill in blanks all day.
I suggest you get a better understanding of what QA's role is. QAing is a very difficult job and one that not everyone is qualified to do. Certainly not lazy MTs who can't be bothered to do their own research.
I can see where you might think she was being rude...

Why are you being so rude to me? All I can speak about is myself, and what I am doing. I wasn;t being rude to you or anyone else. Guess you have nothing better to do or no one else to take your crap out on, I was under the impression this was a place where adults gathered.
