Actually almost 2 years ago, Nuance bought Dictaphone.  I'm not exactly sure what you need to know but below is a website that hopefully will help you get the information you need.  Good luck.

I have a physician who would like me to transcribe from handwritten progress notes, but I am wondering if I should invest in a VR program to make this easier on me.  I am wondering if anyone uses this software as an MT?  All opinions are welcome including through e-mail! 

Is anyone out there in transcription land familiar with either of these systems?  I'm starting work for a new client (Pathology) and find them inefficient and require too much non-transcription work to look up doctor's names and demographics.  I'm wondering if I'm missing "something".  Thank you to anyone who can give me a clue.    d

Editing questions- which Keystrokes actually corrects the documents in the Correction Client, therefore, correcting the terms to the future to that dictator.  Does Ctrl D and transcribing the correction cause Correction Client to sit up and take notice.  Can you block the text with Ctrl K, Ctrl J, Ctrl-Shift K, and Ctrl-Shift J and start transcribing the correction (will Correction Client see that).  Thank you.

TV on for me. I can't do music though. Its usually the food channel or the news channel.  Volume  is where I can hear it but low. 

I am looking for this reference book that I used to use as an in-house Transcriptionist many mooons ago. I can't remember what it was but it wasn't Stedmans... I was thinking Drake, Tessier, or even HPI but I know it wasn't Stedmans.

Anyway, it would allow you to look up the word "needle" and then underneath have a huge listing of all of the different types... or you could look up "retractor" and it would list all the different kinds. It was INCREDIBLY thorough. I want to say it had a green cover but can't be positive.

Does anyone have any ideas? This book was so helpful in-house, I really want it to have at home too! Thanks!!

I don't care if they aren't typists..they certainly get paid more than me and should be way more professional. I certainly wouldn't get a job as anything if I sent a resume like that. They are supposed to set an example.. they are our *bosses*.

Even when its not asked for.  Maybe some people like to surround themselves with nonsense and chaos, where as I like peace and quiet!  I think people who like working with other people are either pretending or just plain crazy! 

I am beginning a transcription job for an allergist on Monday and they are looking to me for advice on what type of transcriber to buy and where to purchase the machine.  Since it has been awhile since I have transcribed, I would like some assistance.  I live in TX. Thanks~Sherry

THE BEST SYSTEM TO WORK ON TO DATE - Simple, friendly, no fuss.

The speech part is great also, but is only good if the person responsible for training it does their job . If it is not tweaked everyday, it is worthless.  So the added theroy of the system is only as good as the operator (or in this case, the montioring person).

I am on the road right now and trying to work from a family members home on my laptop, however my 2-yo knocked my dictaphone off the desk and now although I can get a dial tone I cannot get any of the keys to work!!!!!

Anyone have any experience with anything like this
