Cumbersome is a good word here to describe Meditech. The designer obviously doesn't type.

I used Stedman's when working in Meditech, but I would type in Word and
copy to Meditech.
I'm going to type an acct at home for local group. What is a good word expander for
things to know on doing tapes from an office? Is it best just to give them a disk and let them print it out at the office like they want to?
Anybody doing an acct like this? Thanks.
Shorthand users: Is there a way to type a word, use a slash and then type another word..sm
immediately following the slash and have it expand. For example if I needed to transcribe mass/sebaceous cyst, is there a way to use my expanded sebaceous cyst without having to back space after I type the slash mark? TIA
Anyone out there type in Meditech? How is it? TIA. nm

What does Meditech Direct Type mean
Hi -
At the risk of sounding like a dolt ... could someone please tell me what Meditech Direct Type is? I have spent years typing hospital reports into various Meditech programs through a VPN. Is this considered direct type?
Thanks.
Our Meditech connects through a Citrix server, and kicks us off, freezes up, doesn't allow log on
If the system has a lot of users on, then it lags. You hit the keys but the letters don't appear right away. Try doing the backspace key with that. It does not have a word Expander and only certain ones will work with it. ShortHand does but some of the others do not. It has archaic functions. The patient demographics are entered separately from the body of the report, so you don't get paid for those lines. It takes multiple key strokes to make font changes, etc.
But other than that, it is fine LOL
Does satellite internet work to type into Meditech?
I can't get cable or DSL, and wonder if satellite will work.
Sorry, but your schedule doesn't justify making up your own rules. Use the word board for word q

Thanks for your input. We type regular medical reports in Meditech and radiology in Cerner. SM
I am really considering presenting the idea that we measure productivity on minutes transcribed instead of lines. I don't know if management will go for it, but it seems like the best scenario considering all the trouble we've had.
Thanks again!
That doesn't mean anything - anyone can type a

Feels stiffling in here again....more personal moderating, I see.
I type the letter "l" in IT and the word cholelithiasis is my word selected? Why?
I want to get rid of this. Entered left again but it is still giving me cholelithiasis as the only word option to select from.
This is why I find this program crazy. Everytime I sit down for the day, there is a whole new experience with it!!! I have to stop and think before each word!!!
Meditech/Word
I still use Word to type in and then use ShortHand to drop in Meditech.
Meditech and MS Word
I have recently begun working for a company and they use Meditech as their platform. I can officially announce I HATE that platform! I have read in the past that one can do the transcription in Word and then place the document in Meditech. Is that possible or perhaps I misunderstood? I am so accustomed to using the Word commands that it is difficult and cumbersome to retrain myself to use the command keys in Meditech! I am sure in time I will get used to it, but if there is a better way and someone out there knows how to do the above, please share!
MEDITECH AND WORD
Does any one out there currently use Meditech. Our facility has just converted to Meditech but are able to use Word 2007. I work off site and am having formatting issues. We type in Arial 12 pt. but is wanting to convert to Calibri 11 pt. when saved. Just curious if anyone else out there has had this experience
Not me, just because I type it, doesn't mean I understand it - sm
I just have a good ear and can figure it out....and have enough common sense to know what is right or wrong in a report.....have heard some whoppers of mistakes though in which common sense should have prevailed and the MT should have known better....but then again some do know it all (or so they think)--You are absolutely right!
No, you don't type directly into ES. You type in Word -
or whatever their platform is, just like you did with your tapes.
Then you do your line count in Word or the platform.
I think it's for Meditech it's working for me in Word.

Meditech word expanders
I know that ShortHand and Abbreviate both work with Meditech. There may be others as well. Hope this helps.

Can you cut and paste from Word to Meditech?
Can someone tell me if I can type a report in word and use the bold function, then cut and paste it into Meditech and still have the bold sections bolded (blue)? Also, will lines wrap around correctly when using the tab key.
Meditech word expander
PCSHORTHAND is the only one I have found to work with Meditech; www.pcshorthand.com

Export from Meditech to Word and back again?
Someone here once tried to explain how to have Meditech export or open a word file so you can type the report in word and then import it back into Meditech. Something about Export? Does anyone know how to do this and, if so, would you please break it down step by step as I've only been using Meditech for 3 to 4 months. Thanks in advance!
you can copy and paste from word to meditech...
It is alt V instead of ctrl V. It is VERY slow doing it that way though.

too cumbersome
I was told it works best if you have 512 mb computer. I had 256 and I had to reboot a few times a day. Drove me crazy. After account was taken away from company, I had no further interest in working for them using M/t

Is 9.5 cents per line a good rate using Meditech?
This is for a radiology account. TIA
platform outdated, demos cumbersome
Could the person who posted about the company they work for having a slow outdated platform, having to fill in a lot of demographics, cc complicated, etc., please Email me. I think I am in the same boat. Thanks.
If it comes with WordPerfect, it doesn't come with MS Word.
Unless you pay extra and special order it. One or the other, not both.
Diet doesn't have to be a four letter word.
You can jazz up everything you mentioned. Put a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg into your applesauce, put some spices on the hamburger like garlic, onion powder, or Emeril Zest, and even a dash of Tabasco or some other spices in your tomato juice. I like to throw a piece of celery, a colossal green olive, and a few pepperoncini into mine. Some people aren't into hot and spicy, but spices are zero to low calories. Hot and spicy is very good for you with vitamins, antioxidants, etc. Studies have proven that people who eat hot peppers with their meals consume 150 fewer calories per meal. Eating naturally (AKA dieting) doesn't have to be bland.
The Word board doesn't have much traffic for
many reasons. Some of us are tired after working our own shifts and don't want to feed answers to people who are equally as capable of looking them up as we are. I use entirely Internet based references. If I have that free access to references, so does everyone else on these boards. From my own experience, it's easier and faster to look my questions up myself. In addition, I learn more from doing my own research. If I can't find it, I flag it and send it to QA. That's their job, not the job of those of us here. Word board answers aren't always accurate either. Finally, people are ungrateful if nobody answers their questions quickly enough. That's why I stopped going there. Grumpy little untrained newbies giving tongue lashings because we didn't do their work for them quickly enough. Half of them can't say thanks either. It's sink or swim out there. People have to figure out how to do for themselves.

What type of word is umm, ahh, etc.?
What is the technical name for such sound phrases, and where can I get a list of them?

Do you have a word you can never type correctly
Mine is "initiated." It makes me nuts. In 20 years, I have never typed that word correctly and I keep forgetting the expansions I develop for it.
What are your least favorite terms to type?
Shorthand ? When I type the word I the
first letter in the next word is capped. There is no period so don't know why it caps. Anyone know how to fix it. I'm new to ShortHand and I really HATE it. My company offers a short class in it, but they want me to have more experience with it before I take the class.
type it as 1 word midphalanx..nm

Yes, they have the right to use it but that doesn't mean that it's good for us
More and more companies are using it, as well as their own programs they are designing, which do the same thing. I've seen it first hand. The workload slows, what is left is all awful doctors that you can't understand, or that say uhmmm after every word so it takes 10 minutes to type a 1-paragraph report.
It is like Word in a lot of ways, with the same type of AutoCorrect. sm
But you have an ADT utility to select the patient demographics for the report you are doing. Actually very nice. I enjoyed DQS while I was on it.
If a company has you type on straight Word..
is there any way to put your own Expander software with that and if so, what is recommended. I have always had the company supply the software including expanders, but wondered if there is a way to use these in Microsoft Word. Thanks for any help!!!
Doesn't every word you said just translate into you're worried about bidding? Don't underst
phrasing in that regard. I don't look at worrying about bidding as a bad thing, either. Its the only way to buy on E-Bay - cautiously. One should always worry about bidding, as you have no clue who you're buying from! Most sellers will always respond angrily to a negative - only ones who don't answer at all are the guilty ones! But if you're unjustly accused of this or that, and then the buyer has the audacity to leave a contrived negative, that's when the seller responds and feathers fly! Negative reading is a great experience - you can really learn a lot about all parties, right? I don't deal with the ones who leave cursing, I'm gonna kill you negatives! Though, sadly most of them have been deleted by now, so we don't get to see the "true colors"...Censorship sometimes hurts...
She's got a real good way about her, doesn't she??!!! nm

Doesn't sound too good sm
I wonder if there is something else we could use our skills in that makes more money, maybe in medical records or billing and coding. Maybe being paid in something that pays hourly would be more beneficial. I am aware there are medical transcriptionists who really do make good money with benefits. Guess they have the right accounts to do so.
Doesn't sound good, does it?
Since it's the line coming to your house that matters and TW apparently has the monopoly on that, you may have to crunch some numbers to see if it's worth it to rethink how you pay for your entertainment bundle. Ours is bundled as satellite TV/phone/DSL. If we had cable as opposed to DSL, it would definitely be easier to regroup. I wish you luck.
How many WPM do you type with auto corrects/word expander?
I have never tested my speed using my Expander and have no idea how many WPM I type. I became a certified master typist last year at over 100 WPM without my expander. I've been doing this for six years.
I'm really curious what the average is with an expander. TIA.
Type whatever word/phrase, bold, highlight, sm--
select Autocorrect, add.
Question for all who type on a Word-based platform.
Does anyone else use F3 to go from expansion to expansion? For instance, I have gent that expands to gentleman, then I hit F3 to go to gentamicin, F3 again to go to Gastroenterology, etc., etc. My question is this: I am typing on ExText, and I have been making these entries, but in the morning when I turn the computer on they are all gone and I have to start over again. In ChartScript they "stick" and in ExText they don't. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get them to stay? TIA for any suggestions anyone may have.
