printers or fax printer, making sure the printer you are using has a "check mark" next to it. Right click on the printer that has a check next to it (if there are more than 1 listed), click on Properties. Under General, click on Print Test Page. If there is an error, it usually will list the problem and and offer you the option to use Repair. Additionally, you may want to check your connections to be sure they are secure.

Default Programs and see about file associations, or what your mail program thinks is the default connection. There also might be a place in WinZip to designate a connection, but I don't know for sure because I don't use that program.
Hope you find it, let us know!

Check control panel?
Look under control panel/printers and faxes and make sure the printer didn't get changed, or maybe just click on it again.
Also, make sure all the cables on back of printer and computer are tight.
EXText: ESP control panel?
I am new to this whole "platform" business (used to type strictly from tapes or from dictaphone system tank in hospital) and noticed under Tools the ESP control panel (or something like that). Is this an expander? How does it work?
Thank you
If you go to Start, Control Panel and
Sounds you can change things under the Sounds tab and play around with it. Don't know which listing you would have to uncheck as I don't know if that is a popup window or what, but it is a place to start.
Look in your control panel for "foot pedal" if you - sm
have XP and see how it is set up.
Try Folder Options in Control Panel.
Go to the View tab and then click Show hidden files and folders. I hope this works.
You also might have to go to Control Panel/Game Controller, and add it in there. nm

Control Panel - Display - Appearance
If you have Windows XP, you will have to click on "Advanced" at the bottom right of the screen.
Then click in the space where it says "Window Text." Choose the color you want, click "Okay," then click "Apply."
That should do it!

Same thing happened to me.....go to settings, control panel, (SM)

Look under Control Panel/game controllers and see if it's listed there, too. nm

I put the erotic on. It is pretty funny when you go slow. Thanks, I needed that laugh. :O)
Do we know what software or hardware they might use?
I'm just curious if anyone may know if these "Big 3" companies use any software from www.nchsoftware.com.au or hardware from www.altoedge.com ?
Computer hardware question..sm
I want to start working on my laptop and I currently work on ExText. The operating system requirements I was told I needed to work on my laptop is to have 800 Mhz processor. My laptop (brand new Dell with dual processors) says it has 667 Mhz. Does this mean I can't work on it? Or will it just be super slow?
Thanks
Router has hardware firewall that SM
needs to be configured, so it has that for extra security. Plugging modem directly into phone jack leaves you wide open to trojan horses, viruses, etc. I have NetGear, it is good. LinkSys is Walmart quality but adequate; we had a lot trouble with ours resetting during power surges so keep your ID handy and do not lose your manual.

I got a replacement spring at my hardware store .... sm
take your remaining spring as a sample for the gauge ... i had to buy one a foot long, irrc, and cut it with scissors but I think it cost under $2. you might call around to save time ... I used an "old time" amazing local hardware store but I suspect my local Ace hardware would have something too .. (but doubt home depot or Lowes would) ...
There are several reasons I have half a dozen "dead" keyboards in my shed ... and this is one ... I think later models weren't made with this "feature" (the spring under tension poppping out and impossible to find feature, that is) ;-)
A sound card is a piece of hardware.
You'll have to determine if a sound card is installed. If not, you can install one but that's probably not the answer you're looking for.
Is there another option/location where you can go to get this work done?
You really should have checked all of this out before you left home. I ALWAYS take my laptop with me because the one person I can rely on in most cases is me.
I am sorry about your situation.
Foot pedal control/knee control? (sm)
My sewing machine has a knee control built into the side of the cabinet and I find this very comfortable. I would like to somehow do the same with foot pedal I use for transcription. Can figure out how to mount it, but having trouble adjusting it so the 3 pedals are not an issue. ANyone done this or have any input?
Foot pedal control/knee control
Though I have not had experience with this type of modification, I have repaired numerous footpedals and have some information that may be helpful. Generally, the footpedal is comprised of the primary circuit board, the wiring to the computer, and the three switches for play, rewind, and fast forward. These switches are easily removed from the pedal with a screwdriver. With basic soldering, you can lengthen the wiring to each switch, or even replace them with different switches you can get at a local electronics store. With a little bit of creative engineering, you could mount some knee -controllable switches that could control the footpedal.

I just installed ShortHand. I need help!
Does anyone know if ShortHand can be set up to insert superscripts and subscripts? I imported all of my Autocorrect entries from Word, but it wouldn't import the formatted text. For example, can ShortHand be set up to convert the "c" in A1c to subscript? I really appreciate any help on this!
Losr wp5.1 when XP installed sm
I always kept WP5.2 for DOS in case a client had a moldly oldy and I truly enjoyed having it on hand. When my new tower came in, I realized that WP5.1 was, of course, gone for good, as the tech gave me a new tower with XP. I have the diskettes and wonder if I did have an old WP5.1 job come in, is it possible to install with XP or is DOS necessary and is it gone forever? Love WP5.1, made me lots of money in this field, it was my "buddy" and I feel I lost a good friend. Crazy? Yes!!
I have installed it at least 3 times
due to computer problems where I've had to dump my hard drive and reinstall everything.
I don't know if you are talking about disks that you bought or disks that came with a new computer.
Gee, don't know :o(. Have you installed all drivers?
I don't have an Ativa. I wish I could help!
I've had up to 4 installed at once and

I have never had any problems, I have it installed on 3 computers,

MTStars spellcheck help - I just installed it and
do not see the "checkmark" button at the top with my other browser buttons. How do I access the spellcheck? It is installed and shows as a program on my list of programs. Help!!!!
I'm assuming you installed the software that came with?
If so, and don't laugh, did you try rebooting? I always do that first before I worry about any computer issues. If it doesn't take care of it then go back and make sure you followed the installation steps exactly. Is it the Mircrosoft Natural Ergonomic 4000? I have that and it's great...only thing I could complain about is it's rather wide, so when I do need to use my mouse, my arm has to reach a little farther, which isn't good ergonomically, but I do everything I can to avoid using the mouse anyway...oops, I digress! Good luck with your keyboard!
If it has never been installed on another machine, then you are fine. sm
I have bought OEM software off or Ebay, came with registration numbers never used, and it was fine. I was able to register and access support.
It you purchase a new pc, it may not come with Vista installed. However, sm
it most certainty will be "Vista ready," meaning, you will have all the specs you need to perform the upgrade.
Word 2007 installed and...
I lost my Stedman's and all of my auto corrects, but everything else seemed to be alright :)
I had to reinstall Stedman's and thank goodness I backed everything up so I had my auto corrects!!
I use the free one; not installed or paid for
I think the free (run-it-when-you-need-it) is great! Sure, the real-time protection and monitoring would be great, but I'm on a budget, and I can run their free version as often as I would like (takes about 2 hours, so usually right before I go to bed) and it finds all kinds of alleged 'problems' and I tell it to fix them, and it does. Sure seems to have been helping me, but it could be that in combination with all the other things I'm trying.
My husband tried the 'free trial' on his laptop that you actually download for real-time coverage, and it apparently REALLY bogged his computer down (so he says) and he had to take it off within a couple of days.
Any help?
I use IT. I highly recommend you have it installed.
date element in Meditech is F6, I think. Press F keys all the way. Then, try alt and the F keys all the way down and then control and F keys to see what their functions are. You can jot them down on paper and make it into a toolbar by taping it to the keyboard. Now that I think of it, if you have a Help Desk, they may have a copy of the F key functions to send you.
And also, you will need a speed typing engine which will be well worth the money.
It won't work. Stedman's has to be installed from
the disks. You can't even copy it a flash drive and then try to install it on another computer.
I just got a 22" flat panel LCD Monitor for $119. sm
at BestBuy. I absolutely love it. It will automatically adjust. It has an "auto adjust" feature. It is a "plug & play" when you hook it up to your computer.
You will like it.
All of my computers are Dell and the new LCD monitor is Westinghouse. Works fine!!
You'll have to go to the ESP panel and click...sm
on something that says to allow AutoCorrect to work. If I remember correctly, the ESP takes over and won't allow your AutoCorrect to work unless you do this step. It will ask if you're sure, just say "yes" and go on. Works for me anyway. Good luck.
