I used to have their cable internet here in Cresson, PA, but I have switched to Verizon high-speed DSL, and I absolutely love it. They do have special sign ups, which you can you lock in at that rate, I did! Sure hope you get rid of Comcast!

That really stinks...sm
That supervisor doesn't have a clue about her job! You didn't do anything wrong, and you definitely don't deserve to be removed from the account. But, I've been right in your spot, which is against a brick wall, and my experience has been that you can try to make them see the facts, and they may even agree, but you still will not win.
I'm sorry you have to experience such unfairness, but MTs are often used as scapegoats, most times without their even knowing about it!
Really though, a team leader removing someone without having all the details? ?Without even asking questions of you, and then tell you to "hold tight." It's not worth it to even wait for her to find the facts because they won't be about you anyway. There are MT companies that value their MTs. Find another job ASAP. Kindergardeners need to "hold tight," but where does that fit in at all here? Maybe the supervisor can "hold tight" while you find a better company to work for!!!!
Good luck to you!
One job yes! The other no, and it stinks!
And it takes a very long time for that check to arrive by mail! Why don't all do DD? Just wondering...
Well that just stinks :(
I'm so sorry that happened to you. At least you tried to communicate with them to find out what went wrong...seems like they are the ones being rude and inconsiderate with not even responding. Even though I'd say just try to forget it and move on, I can understand how it would be very hard to let something like that just roll off your shoulders, you know? I'd want to know if it was personal or if they over hired or what...just tell me so I can start to heal! I hope you either get an answer or are able to come away from this unscathed. Best wishes and hang in there!
That stinks!
Something similar happened to me. I started work at the end of March and didn't see a paycheck until mid-May - AFTER I had quit. Got in a HUGE fight with my boss. It's such a risk when you go with a small mom-n-pop company.
I do hope it all resolves for you.
Hi, EL. That stinks! SM
I'd strongly suggest taking advice only from those doing quite well overall with MTSOs. There are reasons why they are, and you want to be in that group.
Seriously, whatever you do, don't avoid VR. Go specifically for it, perhaps looking for accounts that are going to it but still mostly transcription. It's here now and will be the future, and you're already behind the curve. It requires a somewhat different skill set than transcribing, but plenty of people love it and make more at it. Like me. Mine that old can-do spirit and continue developing the skills to continue in this field until retirement if you wish.
Doing well with editing, as well as transcribing, is highly dependent on extensive Expander use.
Regarding MTSOs, lots of people have all the work they can handle, with no bottoming out, but getting that steadiness and having it continue can't be depended on. Just in case, expect to occasionally have to flex somewhat with the work flow just in case.
Webmedx is a good company that specializes in medium-sized regional medical centers/hospitals. Lots of ESL, but higher pay rates balance it out. Expander provided, and classes in its use and other productivity-raising techniques. Good health insurance. Very good incentive pay scale.
Best wishes.
Yep, that stinks, I have one like that - sm
she will do a 17 min consult, I will be lucky if it is 80 lines....stinks, I also have an "ummer"....he will ummmmmmmm for a minute or two, on a 12 minute report, though he redeems himself when he has me "send it in letter format" as well as the report, sometimes to 3 or 4 different doctors, no cc notes for him, so that is quite nice, I can make $25 in 5-10 minutes that way sometimes. He doesn't do it all the time, but still it is a nice perk.
VR pay stinks
I just don't get it and never will. You still have to listen to a whole file to edit, and usually at regular or slower pace to VR which is just another job description for traditional VR which also sucks pay wise. Either way, you still listen to the whole file, and usually the docs put on VR are the better dictators, so you could type them as fast as you listen. The crap docs are the ones that don't make it onto VR, but if you can type as fast as the good ones are speaking in VR, which I have happened upon more than once, then with a good expander, etc., I could be making twice as much just typing their butts. Sorry, this whole VR crap situation is just that, CRAP, and another reason to pay us less than we are worth.
I REFUSE to do this crap work for 3 cpl, and I was shocked as a student at what my mentor made editing my work and giving me invaluable feedback.
Editors in general should be paid hourly and that's a fact. We need to really consider the crap rates we are offered while the middle/man/woman makes the other half of our pay and say enough is enough. Rates are simply pathetic knowing what the middle person is ACTUALLY making!! PLZ............
If no spaces, it is more like 5.75 which stinks! - nm

yeah that stinks
Its not like with a car where you have a choice whether to drive or not.
They should make an affordable plan scaled to income available to anyone who cannot get coverage otherwise and set criteria like - if you have to pay more than 10% (or whatever is fair) of your income for insurance, you are eligible for the plan. Cutting it off at 4X poverty level screws the middle class family, again. Just like for financial aid for school.
JMO. TG we have good insurance. (military)
that really stinks, BIG TIME !!
here is the other web site that goes into more detail,

I have heard low work volumes if full time. Not getting paid for spaces was a deal breaker for me.

That stinks. Must be the office you work for because
I had nothing but STAT reports for 5 hours straight this a.m. and then reports went back to last Friday's dictation. I wish there were some way I could send some out to you.
Weird thing is that in the last couple of weeks I have logged on to find no work, but within an hour, I have plenty of work. Uh oh. Is it my turn?
Oh that stinks-LOL!! Sounds like my luck.

RIU or RUI let's you type in a raw document, but their pay stinks! nm

That really stinks! Guess I should feel lucky.
Now I feel foolish for complaining without thinking there were others worse off. Sorry.
Well that stinks, my vet just built an addition onto the "house" she was using - sm
It is now basically 2 houses connected with a wide hallway. She has 1 partner, who she has had for the last few years, and has not changed her services/prices at all. She now does have a $25 visit fee but you only have to pay it once a year, if you are regular customer she won't charge you for it everytime you come in. She does not charge for putting an pet to sleep either, as long as you are a regular (She knows us pretty well, I was there a lot with my old dog). She is very helpful to me, recently boarded our 16-y/o schipperke though she has not had her shots this year (my normal kennel would not take her since she was not current on her shots -- was due in 9/05) but as she is on her last legs I see no point in getting her vaccines. The dog is deaf and blind, having kidney failure very slowly but seems happy and my DH can't bring himself to put her to sleep yet. Our vet agrees with us on this point too.
Yeah and it pretty much stinks so far this season.

Agree---and work on those expansions..it stinks at first
but it WILL pay off in the long run. Especially once you're familiar with the doctors and you can *almost* type what they're going to say before they say it. When you're that familiar, it makes for a fabulous line count:-)
How is the health insurance? Mine stinks.

Thanks for your replies. I like my account alot but I don't like the pay so that stinks!!

It stinks. You can type it faster, it's tedious, it's tiring, and it's

Comcast
Just wanted to let everyone know that I just ordered Comcast digital phone service. There are no restrictions. Unlimited is unlimited.
comcast
I've had their phone svc for many months now. the only problem is that when the cable goes out, so does your broadband, phone, everything, so make sure you have a cell phone so you can call in your outage. I'm in Indiana and dialed in to NY and there was never a question about how much I was on it.
Comcast
This is unlimited throughout the country. I could have added international, which there will be a charge for later, but I don't need it. I told them what I do for a living, that I am not speaking to a person but dialing into a dictation system. She had me hold while she checked and came back on telling me "unlimited is unlimited." I could have kissed her!
Comcast
Hmmm...I was told something different.
Comcast
If you have their cable and internet, you get the phone rate for $39.95.
Comcast
I just talked to Comcast out here in Oregon and they told me that if I was in anyway using my phone for any "calls that generated an income" that I would be considered a "business" and there would be a business charge for the "unlimited long distance". So I think in time they will catch up with any of us and it will be the same as ATT, etc. If it generates an income, it is a business. It is like my Comcast internet, they wanted to charge me the "business rate" since I used it for business which was almost double of the "residental rate". So I think right now each area does not know what the other area is doing/saying but once they get up and running if they can ding you extra charges they will. So enjoy it while you can. Patti -- yes I talked to as high up manager as I could.
Anyone with Comcast and have you
in any way been told you were using the internet too much? One of the consumer advocates here in town yesterday probably about the most upset I have ever heard. Comcast is telling some consumers their internet service is going to be disrupted for using "too much" although when asked how much is too much, saying that is their secret?
comcast
I have comcast as well and never heard such a thing. I am basically on almost 24/7 so this is excessive and never, never heard such a crazy thing!
Comcast
The only high-speed we have in this area IS Comcast. For years, they were slow slow slow, constantly going down. I called them at least several times a week. They finally laid a new cable which has taken care of a lot of the problems but they should be a lot faster still. I called constantly and demanded constant credit on my account (which I got) even though they tried to find excuses such as it must be MY computer, MY lines, MY problem. When I called the utilities commissioner for my state, all MY stuff started working again. If they don't listen, call your utilities commissioner and then send e-mail to Comcast letting them know they will be hearing from them. Maybe that will wake them up.
Comcast
Give up and get on DSL. When Comcast bought out Time Warner, NY internet service went from reliable to having to reset and reboot every morning. I have a friend who has to reset and reboot every few hours. She simply loses internet service in the middle of whatever she is doing. To make matters worse, if you need a tech's help with Comcast, be prepared for a wait. I was told it would take at least a week for a tech to come to my home in spite of my explaining I earned by living over the net and could not possibly afford a week without working.
DSL has been awesome - always reliable, great service. Extremely easy set up. Have NEVER had to call a tech about anything. I would highly recommend this internet provider to everyone.
Comcast
Please overlook typos. Hopefully I am better than that.
Comcast..........
I live in Mississippi..... I've had it since moving to this area, about 10 years. From the get go we've had nothing but up and down service and at the worst possible times...when I'm working!! It will go down without explanation...customer service never has an answer, so after several years of constant problems, I finally found a local supervisor (got his number) and he actually fixed the problem. He sad he wasn't getting the information that this area was having all these problems. Haven't had a lot of problems since, even though it does still ramdonly go down..... we NEVER get advanced warning of anything, ever!! We've still had some problems but nothing like before.
I can't say it's fast, even though that's what they claim it's supposed to be. That has been our only option until recently... now there's DSL but still don't know if this will be any better.
It depends entirely on the company you work for. If their tech support stinks, then
the program will not do well, but if they have good tech support, they can tweak it to work just fine.
GearPlayer customer service stinks - if you need to reload onto another computer (i.e. you get a new
You have to call them to get a new install code, but first they have to fax you a request sheet to be completed and faxed back, then they have to okay the reinstall and give you a new code. They are NOT available after hours or on weekends, so if you have an emergency such a computer crash, you are out of luck.
Verbatim stinks! As a MLS, you're educated and trained to edit

Really really stinks to fire someone in a conference call for gosh sakes. nm

I have/had Comcast phone too
I have Comcast home phone service and it is expensive in my area. It was about $60 a month (including all the taxes & fees) but I only had unlimited calling throughout the east coast, mainly the New England area. I downgraded my phone service to the basics and now I use my cell phone for the majority of my calls, it actually turned out to be cheaper for me to use the cell over the landline. I kept the landline hooked up just for a home phone for emergencies & for ppl to call in to us but for me to make calls, they all go thru the cell.
I originally signed up for Comcast back in 2003. I know they are in stiff competition now with Verizon and both companies are offering better, more competitive rates.
Comcast Update
Comcast digital phone installed today. I cannot believe how clear it is! Luv it!
Adelphia/Comcast
I'm confused too. I was told Adelphia would be changing over to Comcast as well.
I've decided to give Verizon a try though. I'll keep Adelphia during my 30-day trial and see how it goes. I hope the change over to Comcast goes smoothly without too many outages.
Vonage or Comcast
I have had Vonage for about two months now and I have had no problems at all. My friend has it too. I wasn't charged for the modem, and I have two lines with them. They did charge a setup or installation fee of about 42.00, but they give you the first month for free..so I didn't think that was too bad. Most companies do charge some kind of installation fee no matter where you go. I don't use a C-phone or anything though, so I can't say whether there are problems with that or not. If you have Comcast in your area, they now have digital phone with unlimited long distance. Every Comcast phone customer will have it before long, because they are doing away with their regular phone service and switching completely to digital. Which I'm not too happy about, because if your internet connection goes down, then you're stuck with no phone. No more land lines with them. If you have internet and cable through them as well, you can bundle the three and pay 99.00 a month for all 3 services for a year. :O))
Can you even get to the Comcast homepage?
I've tried typing it in manually, have used FireFox and Internet Explorer, and nothing is coming up. Maybe I should fire up the Mac and see if I can get in through Safari.
Comcast Internet
Does anyone use Comcast for broadband. I do, but I can't get onto the Comcast.net website, and email is not coming through Outlook today. I was wondering if the problem is on my end or theirs. I can get to other websites (like this one!), but I'm also having problems with time-outs on many, many other sites, not just Comcast. I'm wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem.
Same here, had problems with Comcast
and kept complaining until they finally sent a repair guy that actucally cared. Funny, when he tried to type in differnt web sites just to see how fast everyting was working he had to ask me to do it cause there are hardly any letters on my keys. LOL
Here in Oregon -- Comcast and what we did
I live on a floating home here in Portland and several of us were having that problem with Comcast and it was because the wiring or the cables were old and going bad. Enough of us complained and I went pretty high up to complain and they finally rewired or re-cabled and now have not had a problem in over 3 years. You need to keep complaining, call for a repair man to come out, keep your repair sheets with why they came out, and even if it goes back up get the repair guy out to check things out. The cost of sending them out is quite high for them. But keep calling and complaining, an squeeky wheel does get oiled. I was very nice at first, then started calling locally and losing it a little bit I did get results.
Comcast problems
Is anyone else out there having connectivity issues with Comcast? I was formerly with Insight which was recently bought out by Comcast. Since that change, the connection is often slow, often resulting in timing-out, which means I have to log back in repeatedly. This is making work very difficult. I called Comcast which did no good. I have reset/reconfigured my router and modem, and done just about everything else I can think of . . . all to no avail. I am seriously considering changing to a different internet service provider, but dread going through that process. If anyone has any tips or ideas, please let me know!
and accrording to my physical therapist whose company uses them, the quality stinks royal

I had trouble with Comcast and lost
3-1/2 days of my 15 day pay period. Try getting them to fix something the next day even if you had to have them the week before. You just have to sit and wait for the next available. To me this is not fair. They didn't fix it the first time around.
Anyway I lost 3-1/2 days work and I am an IC. There was no way to prepare for this other than to try to have backup money. That is one reason I can't get anything saved. It it things like these that are beyond our control. Sometimes it happens on the work end and sometimes on your end. Either way, you lose.
My brother-in-law uses Vonage with Comcast.net...sm
and sometimes when he calls us the calls are crystal clear and other times it sounds like he's talking in a cave. He experiences the same on his end. He did tell us that once he called their tech-support division and had a horrific time trying to understand the person on the other end because their accent was so heavy and they seemed to have problems understanding his questions.
