Colonoscopy

Okay, ladies, I need some feedback. I just scheduled my first screening colonoscopy (family history of colon CA, plus my age are the reasons). They gave me a choice of scheduling either conscious sedation or with an anesthesiologist who would administer propofol.
I scheduled the conscious sedation, but I have time to change my mind and reschedule.
Anyone had this done? How much discomfort is there during and afterwards with the conscious sedation?
I realize each person differs in their tolerance and response to such things, but I have no one to ask about it and would appreciate any info you might share. TIA.

colonoscopy
I have had two of them - both with Demerol and Versed - no problem. Just this last one though do remember waking up and saying ouch. Doctor asked me if I recalled anything because by colon was twisted from previous abdominal hernia surgeries and he had to switch to pediatric colonoscope. I don't remember any pain, just saying ouch, so something must have bothered me. I just don't like the preparation before and running to the bathroom constantly, I have irritable bowel too. But, I sure am glad I went, he found 3 polyps, 2 of them precancerous that he removed, no history of colon cancer in my family, going back in 2 years for another. Good luck. I was out like a light.
Colonoscopy
Conscious sedation is the way to go. Had two..both went well. One I had today and they used Versed and Demerol...went to sleep and remember very little. Slept two hours at home and feel great now. It is GREAT sleep! The prep (Half Lytely)is the worse part but it does get you clean. You drink 8 glasses of solution after taking two pills. It is quity Yuk! After that it is a breeze.
My first colonoscopy is next week.
Should be just lovely, but gotta have it done. Mom was my age when she perforated her colon. Her dumb MD sent in a gynecologist to do her emergency surgery (the same one he'd sent her two in the weeks beforehand, and who had said he couldn't find anything wrong with her). Too bad they didn't think of diverticulitis before she perforated and had to have emergency surgery. Doncha know that gynecologic surgeon was unprepared when he opened her up. He immediately called in a general surgeon, of course.
But at least I have fair warning that I need a colonoscopy now, before something goes very wrong.
Had e EGD's and 1 colonoscopy with Demerol and Versed
Unfortunately, the Versed was worthless. I was awake the entire time during the colonoscopy. No pain but I chirped like a bird and chatted with the doc and asked all kinds of questions. He was quite blown away. Looking back it was really quite interesting to watch it on the little tv screen. I woke up during my first EGD and watched the scope go into my stomach. Pretty neat.
Curious. I've never fasted for a colonoscopy, just clears for 2 days and then the colon prep. The
