Editscript default font
I am currently typing on Version 8 Editscript and my default font needs to be times new roman 12 and I set it as my default, even in a blank document, but everytime I open up to work, it doesn't stick and I am at default Curier new 10....any help would be appreciated
Click on the file in the Open dialog box and hit F2.
The filename will highlight and you can change it right there.
This is why you should use templates with default font settings. sm
You create documents from one template that uses Arial and one that uses Times New Roman. When you create an AutoText entry in either one, you can use it in docs created by either template because you used the default font. Your entry will always expand in the font used if you just open Word and manually change the font and start typing because you didn't use the default. Hope that makes sense.
You have to be working in the default font and size of the
document template to keep autotext from changing. IOW, when you open a document and change the font or size before you start typing, you are not working in the default of the template the document is based on.
Click on the all commands option in the customize dialog box.
The rest of the options that aren't in the menus are listed there.
If you set the default font then you don't have to keep switching for autotext or Instant Text.
Both entries will slip right in with the right font. You should really use templates if you switch a lot so you aren't constantly changing it.
If you have Word Perfect, it is easy. Just open any document, default the font and margins and do a
You can do a comparrison on gross lines versus 65 character line count by opening any document you have and counting lines both ways.
I have almost always been paid the gross line and still am right now. No matter what the margins or font is, all documents are converted to 1 inch margins and 12 Courier font. You do not count blank lines. I make an average of 0.08 a gross line, which the way I am paid would average out to about 11-12 cents a 65 character line.
Hope this helps!
Did you by accident hit/click the Pay button twice? That will do that if you are not

Click the "Load" button in Express Scribe and then
navigate to the drive where the files are. Highlight the files you want, and then click the "load" button at the bottom of the window.
Click the radio button for formatted text.
You'll find it just above the entry.
Click Tags button and select no space...sm
You can find this button on the left under where you enter your text and the abbreviation. That's all you have to do. Also, make sure you haven't accidentally added a space after last character.
Right mouse click on button and choose customize. sm
Ignore the box that appears. Go back and right click on the button again and from the new popup menu make your choice. To see just a button image, choose Default Style. You can change the picture on the button by choosing Change Button Image and picking a new picture. If you're feeling ambition, Edit Button image will allow you to "draw" your own.
You can even put graphics in autocorrect. Just click the formatted button.

Arial 12
The MTSO requested that we use this, except for one client who requests a smaller font. One MTSO I worked for used Times New Roman. For another company I worked for, using WP5.1, we all used Courier 10, but the printer personnel converted the fonts to whatever the client wished for them to use.

Ask what font, font size and margins are
Then you can figure out how many characters would be in a complete line of text. I am not sure if I am explaining this very well. :-( I worked for one place that had a small font size and small margins. So it did not work out for me as each line averaged closer to 70 characters, and there were not many lines that had only one or two words on them because of the set up.

That's too many steps in a dialog box.
Word 2003 has a List Number style already formatted at the left margin that you can assign a keyboard shortcut to, then switch back to your default paragraph style after your list with Ctrl + Q.
Or you can turn on automatic numbering in the AutoCorrect/AutoFormat as You Type tab. Type your 1 and period and auto numbering starts. You'll get the auto indent, but you can hit Alt + Shift + left arrow to move the list to the left margin. You can shorten that shortcut by assigning something like Alt+L to the OutlinePromote command in the customize keyboard dialog box under all commands.
Change the alignment to Right in the Bullets & Numbering dialog box.

the little white piece of paper icon to bring up the window where you ADD your new entries to, type your abbreviation in the Keyword box, then drop down to the Text to Type box and put in what you need it to say, then click Okay. You're done! If you want to delete your entry, arrow down to it, then click on the Trash Can icon. It'll ask if you want to put it on the clipboard, say yes and hit okay. If you want to modify it, use the little hand on the piece of paper icon. I like to click on the Disk icon to save stuff once I enter it, too, as a backup. If you're working and want to enter a paragraph or a page, you'll hightlight your stuff, bring up the ADD window, copy and paste it into the Text to Type area using the commands on the bottom of that box, name it, and hit okay. To use hot keys and stuff, you'll have to read the instructions in the help file. Good luck! ..nm

That should work for you.
Sometimes the default language gets (sm)
changed on a document when I am typing and I have to go back in and reset it to English. I notice this when my autocorrect entries do not work and I know that I have them in the file. It only happens every once in a while and I have to "select all" and then change the language back to English. Hope this helps in the future.

Even with AC, you need to use templates with default fonts so you sm
aren't constantly switching back and forth. Instant Text will work the same way so you don't have to save half a dozen entries just to get the correct font.
Is there a way to change the default setting in Word - sm
for line numbering? It keeps indenting 1-2-3,etc. to the first tab and I need the numbers along the left margin. I went to <format>, <bullets and numbering>, <customize>, and changed the number position and alignment, and it lines everything up on the left margin.
However, if I have another numbered section in the report, it goes back to the default setting, indenting to the first tab.
Is there a way to change the default, or do I have to go through these steps for each numbered list?
Thanks!

setting default view in Word 2000

Is there an OKAY button there?
I was thinking there was something you needed to do to verify changing the volume, speed, etc., before you closed that box but I can't remember for sure.

You can print a list in the print dialog box. sm
You'll find the option in the print what section. You can probably find a macro that lists them all in a document with a web search. Otherwise, you can only print them.

Where is the JUMP TO button?
I no longer have the boards on the left either, and have tried all of the fixes suggested by MTStars. I did see a JUMP TO feature when I checked out a message posted on one of the state boards a couple of days ago, but it only allowed for jumping to another state. Would really like to be able to use this feature. TIA for any help!

Find the Load button in the toolbar, navigate to where the file is saved and load it into Express Scribe.
