Chipmunks in ES

Open ES, click on Settings, and where you see Tone Low Frequency Cut Filter (0-1500 Hz), change the number from 0 to 50, click okay, then listen.  If voice still sounds funny, try 100, and so forth until it sounds right.  I have two docs with different recorders, and I have to set one at 450, the other at 1000 to make them sound right.  Hope this helps.

chipmunks still active...

Should have mentioned in initial post that I have deleted, redownloaded the new EP, and when that didn't work, tried an older version - no luck.  Even the older version is playing just my .dvf files fast.  I think there's a gremlin in my system trying to drive me crazy.

Thanks so much for your suggestions though!

Anybody else?

Chipmunks in Express Scribe

I've been using ES for several months now -- in the beginning I was having issues with "chipmunk-ish" recordings, then somehow they just got worked out and back to normal.

Now, since I've had to redownload ES after some system maintenance, I'm back to the high pitch, fast speed voices again, and I don't know how to get rid of them.  Has anyone else had this probem?  Any advice??

Thanks!

your welcome! make them sound like chipmunks as long as you still are 100% sm
accurate on what they are saying and if you have done this particular doc for 2-3 years i am sure you will be able to understand. start out at 120%, work there for a few days, increase to 150% and so on. i bypass all the wasted time with hmm, hmm, flip the page, hmm, etc. simply by speeding up the dictation and my fingers fly right along with their words. just FYI, don't immediately jump it too fast where you will spend more time slowing it back down to figure out a word here and there as that defeats your purpose and is more time consuming. adjust the speed periodically where you are comfortable hearing 99% of the words with 100% accuracy and build on that speed.
Express Scribe plays Chipmunks!

Hi,

I have used Express Scribe forever...just recently my .dvf files began playing Chipmunk style.  My .dss and .wav files still play perfectly.  It's just the .dvf that are giving me fits.  Tried changing every ES setting and still no luck.  I had one recommendation to do a system restore to the point before this began, but can't do that right now - too many new things added that I need and don't want to mess up. (actually, probably the instigator of this problem - either that or some Windows update!)

Has anyone else had this spontaneously occur and found a way to fix it?  Crazy days, very frustrating.  Computers are a very necessary evil in my book!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciate.

thanks!
