Chartscript was easy for me sm

The learning curve was so simple, just be sure you have the manual, as it makes learning much easier.
I had tech support import my previous expansions, so I was up to speed immediately. I'm sure it would be a bit slower if you had to enter all of your shortcuts from scratch.
It's been a very user-friendly system with few bugs. Good luck to you!

Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.
IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.
It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
Easy easy money they are!
I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all. Same for H&Ps. They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time. Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!
Chartscript
I use it and really like it. Expander is similar to autocorrect. I would make my line count if I was able to sit down for 5 minutes without being bothered.
ChartScript - SM
This is a great offer. The benefits are so-so for a hospital, but not bad. You will easily get your line count working in ChartScript. ChartScript counts all demographics, headers, footers, bold, italic, etc. on and off counts as two characters, as well each bold, italic, underlined character counts as two. If you normally type 200 lines an hour on a standard 65 character line with spaces, because of the way ChartScript counts lines, those 200 lines in ChartScript would be closer to 300. Make sure it's not ChartScript.net, SoftMed's browser based transcription platform, because if it is, it will be extremely difficult to get your line count. There is a huge difference between ChartScript and ChartScript.net.

Anybody know any companies that use Chartscript?
Chartscript
I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem I'm having with Chartscript. I have never worked in Chartscript before, and my new primary account is in Chartscript. This is a brand-new account for my company (I work for a small MTSO), and they are pretty clueless with Chartscript and with Instant Text so are no help to me on this issue.
I don't know if it is my Instant Text that is causing the problems that I'm having. Sometimes when I'm in Chartscript, I'll use a heading from my Instant Text in the document. Then when I go to the next heading to insert it from Instant Text, it will copy the previous heading that I've just inserted. Also, sometimes if I have just copied and pasted something, it will insert that rather than the Instant Text entry that I am trying to insert into the document. It is SO aggravating and time-consuming!!
Also, Chartscript is so slow! It's like it can't keep up with my typing, but it happens even if I'm just trying to highlight something in the document or delete something.... it is so cumbersome it seems!! Is it ME, or is this something that other MTs have problems with also in Chartscript. Need some feedback please!
Chartscript
Thanks for responding to my question. I have cable internet. The only thing on my computer that goes slow is Chartscript. I search something on Google in a different window and it is really fast, then I go back to Chartscript and get so aggravated! See my problem is that I've come to rely on Instant Text SO much.. have used it for 3 years and just the thoughts of working without it scared me so much. I was told there isn't a way to import our Expanders into CS. I really do think though that it is the INstant Text program that is messing me up here. I'm gonna have to try to figure this out and start using the expanders in Chartscript, I know it! :o) Thanks again..
Chartscript
Thanks very much.
Chartscript
Also, I've read a post that it does not work with expanders, is that correct?
Tx for the reply.
Can someone who uses Chartscript
Please tell me how to run my linecount. I really need some help with this. Started with a new company and asked but have not received an answer yet...maybe they don't want to discourage me?? Thanks in advance
Chartscript
We use chartscript at the hospital where I work. On your main screen at the top is Reports. Click on this, then User Documents. Put in the date range and then click okay...then click on Print Preview. This should do it :)
Chartscript
Need info regarding Chartscript. Is it a good platform to work on? Is it in Word? How long for a learning time? Good line counts with it. Also, are you able to use PC Shorthand, and can I use my Stedman's medical/pharmaceutical spellchecker too. I would be lost without both of these helpers!!!
Thank you.
ChartScript
Can anyone who works on ChartScript tell me if it is Word-based, and what they thing of it? TIA.
Chartscript, sm
as far as the format- sorry don’t know that.
Chartscript
I am about to take on a new account that will be using Chartscript. I am wondering if normally when using Chartscript is the work is in a pool or is it assigned to each individual MT? Or does it depend on the company and how they do it? I am totally new to Chartscript and don't know what to expect.
Chartscript
Chartscript is the platform used to transcribe the reports and is word-based software. It has nothing to do with how the work is distributed or "pooled" ... that would be done through their dictation system, i.e. Lanier, Dictaphone, etc.
Chartscript
I don't know about ShortHand but Instantext will. I just started using Chartscript and so far hate it because I cannot use Smartype which is what I am used to. I also do not know how to get my spellchecker to work in this. It just doesn't recognize anything. I NEED my spellcheck. If anyone can help with this please let me know.
It is Chartscript.net and ...
yes - said it was linked and when I click on the chartscript typing page the IT goes away or the whole screen locks up and flickers like fireworks!!! I have never had a problem with IT running with anything before???
chartscript
My company uses Chartscript right now and is fairly user friendly... we use Word/Stedman's and I have ShortHand abbre. progam, all work fine with it. You can check the patient's other records, which is a super feature and copy and paste if need be into the document. Why are they changing from Extext?... as I work for a 2nd company who is looking to have that installed...
IT and chartscript..
Thank you twitters, I had that question a few months back, would come up and link, but when went to type disappeared. Glad to know I was not using my mind!!!
Re: Chartscript.net
Thanks so much for your feedback. Not sure what I'll do yet since I don't know what my choices will be, or if this is the only account. But at least I know I wasn't imaging things and that others have experienced the same problems. I totally agree with you. It's hard to be productive when you're working on a platform that goes against productivity rather than helping it. Companies just don't seem to care about our end of things and the process we go through to create their reports. They just want to see the final version, and they want it perfect!! Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
Chartscript help
Hoping someone could help. I am unable to copy and paste in Chartscript. I can copy and paste anywhere else, in any other program. This is a new computer I am using, new install of Chartscript. On my previous computer and Chartscript, I had the ability to copy and paste in Chartscript.
Any ideas??
Thanks much in advance!
chartscript
did you try rebooting. I remember getting that msg before.
Chartscript.net CC's
I have been using Chartscript.net for 2 years now. The training was terrible, very superficial and basic, and the manual and web site don't provide any information on adding cc's. I was wondering if anyone out there knew about adding a cc. When in a document, you do Ctrl + E and it brings up the cc window. The top box says "providers on case." The bottom boxy says "providers copied on document." Sometimes a doctor is in the top box but not the bottom. Do you click the green + next to that doctors name to add him to the bottom box so he gets a cc? Or will he get a cc without adding him to the bottom box? We have a new transcription clerk and she insisted the top box will all get copies, but the rest of us don't think so.
Chartscript
I have worked with Chartscript for more than five years for two different companies. I know management sets the character count and what is included/excluded from the count, i.e. demographics, etc. I know companies have had class action suits for "cheating" MTs. There should be "checks and balances" - can anyone recommend a good line count software that works in conjunction with Chartscript to verify line count?
Thanks
I think I smell either VR on the easy stuff, or offshoring of the easy stuff.

One of my clients uses Chartscript
It is a little confusing at first, but once used to it, it is a breeze. You just have to be careful because the system is picky about what it will accept, such as no % signs, but rather spelled out, etc. Not hard. If I can do it, anybody can. :^)
Chartscript and Smartype
Hi, I lurk here, and I need some help. Been an IC for 12 years, using Smartype for almost 10 years I think. I have SEVERE CTS and could not do my job without ST.
Just found out my client who's over 80% of my pay for 12 years now is moving us over to Chartscript. I know older versions of Chartscript would work with ST, but what about now? I'm just terrified that I am going to have to quit because I will lose all my abbv's, and my hands just can't take rebuilding a new set of them. I am feeling very SOL.
javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','')
I'm hearing a lot of "local" gloom and doom about this. Does anyone have any advice? Encouragement? Ideas?
Thanks everyone. MUCH appreciated.
I worked in ChartScript and
I don't know that Smartype will attach to ChartScript because ChartScript is not a true Word product. The good news for you, though, is that you can import your Smartype into ShortHand and have it work almost exactly like Smartype. It is a lot of work converting it into a text file so you can import it into Shorthand, but it is well worth the effort. Like you, I had been using Smartype about 10 years and could not function without it (or so I thought), but once I realized I could use Shorthand and have all my Smartype entries in it, I felt much better. I have almost 15,000 entries that I pulled over from Smartype into Shorthand just from the first import.
Don't give up. Go to Productivity Talk and you can get some good advice about what steps to take to help you. Good luck!
Yes, it's Chartscript.net uggggh.... SM
I discovered this difference in my research and that's when the panic started to set in LOL!
I've heard CS.net is notorious for losing work too, and there isn't that "backup" provided by Word. I sure hope this all works out better than what I've heard so far about it. I'll give it a try, I'm a good sport.
I've gotten the great suggestion to try ShortHand before I abandon ship, but yes, I'll sure miss my Smartype!!! loyal users, aren't we.
Thanks for the input!
Chartnet by Chartscript
Is anyone working on Chartnet by Chartscript? Would like to know your opinion on it. My hospital is moving to it soon.
Chartscript production
Are you able to get a good line count with Chartscript. How long would the learning curve be when first starting on CS. Thanks.
ChartScript Question
I posted this under another post by mistake - - oops! Here we go again. I have a possible position as an IC with a service that utilizes ChartScript. I hear it is a Word-based program; so, does this mean I can import my autocorrect/autotext entries?
ChartScript Expander
I am having a problem with the ChartScript expander. When I type a short cut it is as if it repeats itself (i.e., copd - - I get chronic obstructive pulmonaryarydiseasedisease). I have talked with fellow coworkers and they say they put an "x" before each of their shortcuts. I think this would be a pain. Has anyone had this problem with ChartScript Expanders before? If so, did you find a solution? TIA
I use Chartscript.NET, but here is what I do, and it seems to work...
When you make up your abbreviation or expander, at the bottom of the screen are 2 boxes you can check. One says "has front backspace" and the other one says "use as is." If my abbreviations need to be specific such as your COPD, I check the "use as is" box. I have not had any problems yet.....KNOCK ON WOOD. However, if your words make sense before, then it doesn't work. I always type "to the" as
"tot he." Since all 4 are regular words, the Expander will not use "tot he." Other than that, it works pretty well. Hope this helps.
chartscript has its own expander also..sm
I use Chartscript. In a report, try Ctrl-A. You should see it has an expander. If you see COPD in the list, then it will repeat itself when you put COPD in your Word expander. In other words, any abbreviation you add to Word's Expander will repeat itself because it is already in Chartscript's expander. You will need to delete COPD in either your Word Expander OR Chartscript's expander.
I use Smartype and Chartscript-sm
I have never had problems with the two working together. I already had Smartype installed on my Word program, and when I put Chartscript on my computer, it was there, just like it is in my own version of Word. Does your Chartscript have the interface that uses Word? I have heard that Chartscript.net is different and just has a processor that you type into. I don't think it works in that version of Chartscript.
I would hate to work without my Smartype. I personally prefer it over Instant Text. I could never get used to using that even though it has more features.
Hope you find a way for your ST to work.
Chartscript and expanders
I have downloaded Instantext given to me by the company I work with. It isn't showing up on Chartscript. It is like it doesn't recognize it or something. Is there a way you link this to Chartscript or something I am not doing? I am lost without an expander.
ChartScript and Shorthand..
Can anyone tell me if ShortHand Expander works in ChartScript and if so, how do you go about doing it? Thanks for the help.
I use Smartype and Chartscript-sm
I replied before to someone about this. I haven't had a problem. It works exactly the same as in my own Word. It even has the Smartype link in the top toolbar (with file, edit, view, etc.) for click down options. I use all my Smartblocks, Smartphrases, adding ing to end of word, adding ly to end of word, adding kk for -like, adding rlt for -related, etc.
Here's where I answered before.
http://forum.mtstars.com/main/v/1/107460.html
I hope you can get it working.
ChartScript log in issue
My new job uses ChartScript. I am having issues logging in. Does anyone know who to call. I called my boss at the company I work through but thought I would see if anyone here could help me out in the mean time.
Thanks in advance
Chartscript.net and Docuscribe
Hello -- does anyone know if I would be able to use both ChartScript.net and Docuscribe programs on the same computer without any problems? I know that both are web-based and am concerned about Active X controls being a conflict between the two platforms. Thanks for any help on this!
Shorthand and CS.NET (Chartscript)
I just started working for a company that uses Chartscript (web-based)and, even after upgrading to version 10 of Shorthand, it just is too unreliable to work. Are there settings I could try (as far as pause in msec etc.) I had heard that another MT at this company was able to get this to work fine with the upgraded Shorthand, but I find missed letters in sometimes relatively short expansions and my edited documents come back with words missing which I am fairly certain I did transcribe but were messed up somehow in the expansion with Shorthand. I also have problems with duplicate expansions of some letters (even with the Chartscript Expander toggled off) Is it my Internet that could be causing the problem (I have Clearwire)?
Chartscript.net - Need advice
Looking for opinions on Chartscript.net. Was just offered an account that uses this platform. I seem to remember using it and NOT liking it, but am not sure since I've used others since that time (and they're getting mixed up in my head). I use ShortHand word Expander and seem to remember having to turn their expander off to use mine, but then had to turn the Chartscript expander back on to pull up the template for the next report. Also, seem to remember having problems speeding up/slowing down voice, etc. Also, seem to remember having trouble with Chartscript "windows" and being unable to do a search and look at a patient's previous reports without toggling out of the existing report. Also, I do not believe there are "time markers" that you can put which can automatically take you back to a blank if you want to listen again, so you have to "find" the blank all over again.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't recall having a good feeling about the platform and hope that others out there can set me straight. Would appreciate any feedback ASAP and I'm going to have to make a decision on whether or not to take this account in the very near future. Thanks in advance.
Chartscript.net - Still Need advice
Excuse me if I sound ignorant, but what exactly did you copy and paste? Were they big templates? If you could elaborate a bit maybe it would help me remember. I think Chartscript had a place where there were some preexisting doctor's normals, and I believe I tried saving my own large templates there (rather than putting them in Shorthand). But I think I recall that when I tried to make a change to my own template and resave it, it wouldn't work in the Chartscript normals file. The tech guy said I had some type of corrupted file, so he did something to reinstall things and then they worked.
Do you think I could just put my any larger templates I make in ShortHand to avoid this? Were you able to use an expander? How did you increase/decrease speed, etc?
I'm not sure whether I will have any other options, and may be forced to accept this account -- so I'm very nervous about it. So anything else you can tell me would be most appreciated.
chartscript/softmed
does anyone use this program - i have been using for about a year and now all of a sudden it will not bring the "patient fields" into the document - error says add document failed - was not having this problem before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Chartscript (uses Word).

Chartscript question. Is there sm
a way to transfer my autotext files from Word 2003 into Chartscript so that I don't have to build a whole new Expander list? Getting ready to start a new job and was just wondering. I haven't got a clue!
Thanks
I use ChartScript, but I open
Word separately. Does your version open Word for you? When I worked in house on CS we had OLD versions of CS, I think it all opened together and we had no Expander - just the Autotext.
Sorry I don't know about the older versions, maybe someone more "techy" than me can answer. Do you have tech support you could call or maybe visit the CS website & ask?
I work in ChartScript and we are able
to check our lines anytime.
