if I do it with one company, will it be easy transition to do it for another company?
Thanks.
How dare you speak to a colleague in this manner.
You are in the minority. I am telling you this - the only thing that constructive criticism does is cause lack of confidence and distraction which lasts for me up to an entire day. We make mistakes. Not gonna change. QA should be honored for catching the error and leave the MT out of it. There is no need to do anything more but fire her and in this field, the doctor has the last word and they still decide in the end - get that MT off my work and well, if that doesn't happy, that is a good sign. I have seen grown women brought to tears from the bullies in this field and it is about time it stopped, while that giant sucking sound caused by our jobs going to India gets louder and louder. Solutions include pods - teams of QA editor, proofer, data collector who WORK TOGETHER with mutual respective, sense of professionalism and hey, how about some humor and kindness? Is there some reason why some MTs think they are our sargeants? The only thing you bullies have on us is the ability to be rude.
I know Spheris just started this "not

Uh oh, another Spheris/MQ look alike. What's up ? ? ? ?
She didn't just "not" tell people, she
deliberately misled people into thinking she had done it all by diet and exercise, which is a lie. She could have and should have just refused to discuss it, instead of lying about it.
If you don't want to tell me, fine, don't tell me, but don't lie about it.

To the "not paid for spaces" question
Why is not being paid for spaces the norm? Don't you have to tap the space bar just as you have to tap a letter key? I don't get this. This is just another way to reduce our income. DON'T ALLOW IT!
Thanks to "not a living computer" and others who responded...sm
I am very grateful for your responses and I agree with much of what you have been requesting. In reality, however, it may take a while for a brand new company to offer 50% of what you requested. Could you or would you be willing to start with decent pay, good communication, excellent Q&A with constructive criticism, samples, and a regular group of dictators? It may take time to grow into a company that can give you even 75% of your dream job requests. Those are my long term goals. Now, can I give transcriptionists all of it as a start-up? Probably not but I am trying to find out what I can and what I cannot promise and, more importantly, deliver! So, once again, thank you for your responses and keep them coming!
"Not fondly"--SO true! Who'd ever go back to THAT? NM

Has your pay already been cut by MQ? I am an IC for MQ and this has not happened to me yet. Is it a proven fact that this is going to happen or just speculation?

Very little hasn't changed...sm
since the beginning of time. It's not just the 'religious fanatics' who have changed. The human race has evolved in their beliefs since Adam and Eve. Christians don't follow the rules of the Old Testament per se, because Jesus fulfilled the laws. There aren't too many religions who still make animal sacrifices. A woman who is having her period is no longer considered unclean. Pork is not considered taboo in the Christian faith, and Catholics aren't limited to eating only fish on Fridays. There were religions who believed in human sacrifice, but I doubt that goes on very much any more.
People have evolved in that we no longer believe the world is flat. We don't believe you are going to get AIDS by touching someone who has it. We no longer believe that a woman who is having her period can't go swimming.
Who believes the same things they believed when they were six? How different are your beliefs than your parents? Not just about religion, but about anything.

There are companies that hire coders to work at home. Tell her to try www.aviacode.com, www.lexicode.com, www.amphionmedical.com, www.btcworldwide.com, and www.peakhs.com. Tell her to subscribe to the AHIMA jobs board. They have plenty of jobs (some are in-house and some are work at home). Hope this helps.

She hasn't filed for a divorce yet -
Because the state she lives in does not recognize legal separation, she had an agreement drawn up by her corporate atty. This agreement handed the house (quick claim deed) and business over to her, while her "future ex" draws his pension and moved to warmer weather (California). This all happened when things were friendly. Now she wants a divorce so she can get on with her life (with her new beau she is buying the house with). BAD idea since she has not filed for a divorce. Anyway, thanks everyone. I think I'll be visiting her in jail.

It hasn't been allowed since HIPAA. MT companies who outsource...
get away with it because they don't tell their clients, and internet wav file capabilities enable them to do so without anyone knowing. Some policy and investigation needs to be enforced to stop this. I say start slapping companies who outsource with huge fines and see how long we have to deal with outsourcing problems. What gets me most is "I can't even get a copy of my own medical record from my doc unless he has a release of medical records form signed by myself on file in my chart, but a doctor can dictate John Smith's medical history, send it to a company who in turns sends it out of the country and back here! Ridiculous.

It hasn't been called AAMT in a long time. nm
But, in our case, 'credentialling' hasn't made ONE IOTA
In fact, just the opposite has happened. It's just a pocket-lining scheme, and nothing more. We had plenty of respect and a decent income back in the day when we had no 'CMT' scam going on. It isn't being credentialled I have a problem with - it's the group claiming that it's 'necessary', who is trying to get it mandated, and who would ultimately PROFIT IMMENSELY if that were to come about. But would WE profit? Nuh-uh. It hasn't made being an MT (credentialled or not) a better or more rewarding career, and if fact, just the opposite. So I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that if they were to succeed in making it mandatory that only CMTs could work, that those MTs would derive any viable benefit from obtaining the title. Most likely things would just get worse.

That is funny, you are right!! Daycares are better than boarding schools. And I also agree that not everyone is cut out to be a stay at home mom. On the other hand, not everyone is cut out to be a daycare provider and that is what the good parents have to worry about.

ROTFLMAO. Hope my husband doesn't catch me.
Way too funny! I had one doc that said:
Patient states, "I feel like s--t!" I called my boss and said "I'm sorry, I cant type that in there."
I used to work for an old cranky country doc that actually dictated the chief complaint as: "Doc my b--ls are killing me." I told him when I turned in the completed report that I had changed the chief complaint to: Patient complains of testicular pain. He just laughed and said, "That's why I hired ya!"
