Calcium + magnesium and Vitamin D

In Reply to: RE: Does anyone have restless leg symptons day and night, and what do you do for it? (nm) - Kris

Muscles require these nutrients. Essential for heart muscle. Fatigue and inadequate mineral intake especially if you're a soda pop/caffeine drinker and meat eater -- all deplete the bones of calcium and when that happens, the body takes what it needs from other sources.
Minimum daily requirement for women is 1200mg/day. Calcium ought to be in a citrate, maleate or asporotate form (higly absorbable). Excellent combination to help get good restful sleep without sleeping pills, etc. AND to combat restless legs.

Take Magnesium & B6
I don't claim to be a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but 7 years ago a doctor did suggest I try this...Take Magnesium in high doses with a small dose of B6 every day.  I took 2000 mg of magnesium with 200 mg of B6, and after a few days my symptoms started disappearing until they were gone.  I continued to take the above for a year or so (even in decreased doses) and finally stopped.  But to this day if I ever notice the symptoms flaring, I take it again, and it wipes out the pain.
Get your magnesium checked
I used to grind my teeth and nothing helped. When I had a physical, a wonderful physician mentioned that a couple of my symptoms (including bruxism) sounded like a magnesium deficiency. After taking a supplement a couple of weeks, the grinding stopped and has never returned.

Sorry, I just saw that you are looking for "injection" medication. Scratch my last post.
I use a vitamin and nutritional supplements

Mine started to get really bad a couple years ago, and since then i'm keeping it at bay, though sometimes I slack off.

I have two keyboards I use, one for each hand, and I rest my hands on arm rests from an ergonomic chair I invested in last year.  Keeps my hands neutral.

The vitamin regimen I use is fish oil, or omega 3 to keep my joints nice and hydrated, magnesium for a natural muscle relaxant, and B6, which is a natural anti-inflammatory.

I also do yoga, which releases tension in my neck that causes a lot of the stress on my wrists, and do the carpal tunnel stretches.  I only do the soaks when i'm in severe pain.  I also wear splints every night and they have been a God send.  I used to wake up just about every morning not feeling one of my hands, it just felt like a piece of steak hanging off my wrist, very weird feeling.  I also get regular massages.

When they are real bad I also use Icy Hot and take Soma and Ibuprofen.  I also get more pain when I try to do something else, like paint or write.  Hope this helps.

Calcium supplement
How about Plaquenil? I work a rheumatology account, and they frequently use this for supplement. See info. below.

PLAQUENIL (hydroxychloroquine sulfate) tablets contain 200 mg hydroxychloroquine sulfate, equivalent to 155 mg base, and are for oral administration.

Inactive Ingredients: Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Polyethylene glycol 400, Polysorbate 80, Starch, Titanium Dioxide.

Try melatonin over-the-counter in your vitamin section.
Doctors I worked with got me hooked on it. They said they used it themselves.  Doctors know the side effects of chemical drugs and steer away from them when it comes to taking drugs.  Anyway do a search on Google about melatonin.  It may work for you and it really has no side effects for me, like the grogginess prescription drugs give you the morning after you take a pill to sleep.
