CMT sm

I gave up my CMT status because in my state it was absolutely not recognized. The hospitals stopped paying dues, no one knew what it meant, etc. The payoff was when I went for a per diem position in a hospital and they scoffed at my CMT and said it was "not in-classroom learning," although I had traveled 3 states away to attend symposia, etc., worked very hard at it. Frustrated, I did not renew by not paying my dues and literally gave it up. Now I find that should I decide to go with a national, etc., it is recognized elsewhere and would be a valuable asset to me. I think it is much easier today to get credit. Check with  the powers that be and ask about how else to obtain credit. I believe with all that is on the Internet, you could pick up CME's by reading a professional journal on line, studying it and getting credit for it. Won't hurt to ask. Think about it. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. You may regret your decision down the road.
