Completely apart from my feelings about AAMT, I did want to take the CMT, just for personal satisfaction. Problem is, and I think you put your finger on it, if I don't know what they consider every MT should know after 2 years in acute care or multispecialty clinic work, I know where to find it! Is it a "true test of a good transcriptionist"? Seems to me any Transcriptionist worth their weight has to have good research skills. This job requires us to keep up with the latest information, and really, some doctors I know have to do the research before dictating the reports. IMO, it's a big mistake not to allow us to use references and have internet access to answer those questions; this is a HUGE part of the job, I think!
