C-phone + Word versus software program

Posted By: stargazer on 2007-01-28
In Reply to: Please elaborate on your question. - lynn

What I'm trying to say is that it seems more time consuming to use a C-Phone and Word rather than a software program because everything is just a click away with a program, whereas with a C-phone and Word you have to dial in, do paperwork, send work through e-mail, create templates, etc, etc.  Seems much more efficient to use a program thereby saving time and making more $$$.  (You can probably tell I'm still fairly to this). TIA

C-Phone +word versus software progam
I need opinions please.  On which can you get a better line count?  Thinking about switching companies.  TIA
Phone Tools is a Bvrp software program that allows you to not only fax and receive data/documents v
your pc (including coversheet and confirmation of date/time received), but can also act as an answering machine.  It's a very good product.  The receipient/s just need to make sure that their fax machine is turned on and has a paper supply loaded (thereby saving you the expense of purchasing reams for this purpose).  If you expect to receive faxes, you also need to be sure that the program is running and set the control to fax modem, rather than answering machine.
65 character line versus gross lines versus pay by word

I am checking into other options for transcription.  Can anyone tell me how to compare all of these types of lines & also payment per word?  I know companies use different scales, so I wondered how they compare.  I have been paid on a 65 character line with spaces, but I may be making a change in the future - don't want to get burned.

Thank you in advance!

Reference Books versus software
I am running a poll here.  How many prefer to use reference books over software programs and vice versa.  Does using one or the other assist in your production?  I am just getting back into at-home transcription and am wondering which, and what,  to purchase.  TIA
SoftScript's Software versus Meditech

I have heard of possibly using SoftScript's platform/software/interface for Meditech. What can anyone tell me about this interface?

Right now we type in Meditech for each individual report before we type it. It takes FOREVER! Then we have to file the report electronically when we finish typing it. It is a very slow process.

I wanted to know if this interface I am hearing about for Meditech from SoftScript is anything like straight typing or is it a lot of inputting information?

Has anyone typed in Meditech before and now works for SoftScript or used to work for them who can give me an opinion as to how much quicker it might be?

Any relative information would be helpful!

Lanier versus C-phone
I just started a new account and they have sent me a Lanier 219.  I have been using a C-phone for another account and hate to clutter up my already messy desk.  Can the C-phone do the same thing as the Lanier?  Besides, I have no idea how to hook this thing up.
PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

What software program are you using?

What software program are you using to run the foot pedal? I downloaded Express Scribe (free) and my Infinity foot pedal works great with that.

I hope you find the problem. I know how frustrating things like this can be. Keep us posted.

You are right when you say Arrendale is a software program. sm
This person apparently is trying to stir up trouble, apparently has nothing better to do than to try and stir it up. It won't work on this one because Arrendale is a software program. Back when YOG was around, the owner of YOG had signed an agreement with the then Arrendale Associates (who originally started out in NC). They sold the software or whatever to this co, but IT IS ONLY SOFTWARE.

AnyTime Deluxe offers a number of different options for reminders to pop up, also with various sounds
I think maybe I am misunderstanding, but Arrendale is a software program
something like ChartScript, I thought.   Maybe I am wrong, but I can't see Giselle outsourcing to India or anywhere else, but who knows, maybe.   I have been wrong before.
They say their MTs are in the US. That is fact. Arrendale is a software program. sm
If the company that owns Arrendale is in India, so what? It is a software program just as is Vianeta, which they also use for their work. JLG does not outsource their work.
Is the Dorlands a software program or book and ... sm
did you find the Dorlands with the Stedmans spell check for only 49.95??? That sounds like a great deal!!! thanks for the info!

can you suggest a good software program

to compare with the line counts being given by the hospital?  I am also in the same boat, but I can access my line count.  I would like an independent way of counting my lines, because you never know, right?  What a world.

Line count software/program

I am in need of a new line count program.  Mine is on a floppy disk (yes, it's that old) and I no longer have access to a floppy drive.

What is a good/reliable program to use?

Which HIPAA E-mail Software Program for OE is easiest/best?

I provide service for an office of three OB-GYNs and the OM/docs may be willing to consider going from hand-held microcassette to hand-held digital recorders (mean no more pickup-delivery of dictation/transcription for me!). I would like to utilize a very (hopefully) simple HIPAA compliant encrypted E-mail program for transferring of files in Outlook Express that will work on my own computer as well as the office's Linux network.

I have found one that appears to offer all of the above features I am looking for and seems reasonably priced called CenturionMail, found at the link provided.  Is anyone familiar with this program and/or any others that they would highly recommend? I need something simple as we are all new to this adventure.

My goal is to some day be on the road in our RV, setup with a laptop, and felt an E-mail program would be my best choice for utilizing a campground's Internet connection for uploading/downloading of files. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for any feedback you can offer me. I sincerely appreciate it.

Ask the techs where you work. Probably software issue with their program. nm

Converting C-Phone to keyboard versus foot pedal rewinding and fast-forwarding
Hi there:

I have some as-yet-undiagnosed neuropathy that began with my eighth injection of inteferon for hepatitis C. I initially had severe numbness from the waist down (felt like tourniquets on my legs) that is now controlled somewhat with high-dose Neurontin, but now I have moderate to severe pain in the lower back and buttocks if I sit for very long. I'm on a mild narcotic/analgesic, but I still have pain and discomfort long before it is time to take the next dose. I'm currently only earning about 60-80% of my normal income.

My question is this: Does anyone out there know of a way to convert the foot pedal functions of the C-phone to a keyboard, other than having an integrated system, which the hospital I work for does not have?

There must be some way for handicapped people, like those in a wheelchair, to do medical transcription without the use of a foot pedal, but my guess is that you would have to do away with the Dictaphone dication system completely, which I doubt my employer would do unless I threatened some sort of legal action.

once you use Express scribe to program it should work with any USB compatible software too.

A majority of the software used IS Word based, or do you just want to use Word by itself? nm
s
Do you mean a C-phone or their ExText software? Both are easy. nm

C-phone program code
Does anyone know if there is a code used that will allow you to save your already programmed keys whereas you do not have to re-program the keys every time you unplug your Dictaphone
Line counting software - Need a good program. Have used MPCount in the past, but now
cannot download the old one, as it has been replaced by some new version, which I don't like. Can anyone recommende a good line counting program. Thanks.
Whatever the word you used versus
what it is supposed to be, apparently it was wrong. Since you will not tell us the word, we have no way of knowing. Maybe the QA person misspoke by telling you not to guess, as they would have no way of knowing, but--did you use the wrong word or not????
Does anyone know how to program a new phone number in a Lanier? sm
It is a Lanier LX-231.  There are a couple of buttons I would like to reprogram but couldn't find anything by Googling.  Thanks!
A WAV pedal controls playback of voice files. You need a software program through which to play the

The term "WAV pedal" has become a generic term. The software that you use will determine the file type(s) that you are able to play on your computer. You use either a pedal or hot keys (Fkeys) to control that playback. As stated below, Express Scribe is one such software program and it is free. It can be found by clicking on the link below.

per word versus per line

I have never been paid by the line before, and I was wondering before I go any further, what would be the minimum requirement of lines per day for most services?  I want to be full time and have benefits.

Thanks

Word 2002 versus 2003
I use 2003, is there a huge difference?  Is 2002 more user friendly or is that just the one you are required to have?
word expander software
Anyone know of any good ones.
Word Autocompletion Software
Do any MTs use any of the word autocompletion software for MT work?  Is there a medical one that works for MT work?  Thanks
Anyone ever used this Word program?
Microsoft Office Professional Enterprise Edition 2003. Does this have MS Word 2003?
Word count program
I have an older model puter that is slowly going up and have word 97 count program on it.  I am looking for something that is compatible with that - that also does all headers and footers - not just the header and footer on the first page that I can put on my new puter.  I have checked in to SPellex and that is really slow counting.  I also checked in to Abacus, which was fast and pretty accurate; it actually gave me a little more on a few of my reports as a trial run.  ANyone have any ideas on this.  Thanks for any help.
Depends on what word program you are using
If you are using microsoft word 2003 or even 2000, I believe, then you only put in 1 space as there is a built in space in word that already shows up and if you try to put in a second space it will go in one space when you go down to the next line. Hopes this helps.
Does your word processing program
have "search and replace" feature? That should do what you want.
Yes, it's a word expander--can be used with any program (not just DQS)

word expander program sm

Pros and cons of word Expander programs that work with Chartscript?  PC ShortHand as opposed to Instant Text?  Which is better?  I have downloaded PC shorthand for a 30 day trial, but to me its a little slow.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Invoices. Does anyone have a good invoice software program they use other than MPCount invoice?
I am looking for something professional and easy to use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need Microsoft's Word. It is a program that requires
installation. The account sounds good at 13/cent a line. Better invest in Word (costs a bit) unless you have a kind friend who will share theirs with you.
PRD is a dos-based program, will not work in Word.
It is a great program, wish it would, but you might have to look at something like Shorthand. Same with Stedman's. It is a Windows installation, not a copy/paste like the old dos programs (WP, etc.)
downloading free word program
has anyone ever used open office to download word so a test can be taken?  I rent a computer from my company and I know I probably should not do this.  My question is would they know if this is being done?  Thank you.
smartype attaches to your Word program - SM
so you cannot use it unless you open Word as well as the account's platform, and type there (then copy/pasting the reports into the facillity's system).

Shorthand works independently so works with pretty much all systems.

I've never had one that did not expand a shorcut with the space bar.

I went into google, typed 'dictaphone word client', saw your request there and a few others re this - you might find your answer using Google search. Good luck. Jean
Electronic spellchecker and line counting software for Word 07

Does anyone know of any line counting software and electronic medical spellchecker that works in Word that is out there for Word 97.  I just upgraded to Office 2007 and my abacus does not do the same and I really don't like it in the standalone version and also my Dorland's electronic medical spellchecker will not even install on this version of Word.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.  Please help as I have to have this to do my job.

Thanks so much

It's a stand alone program and doesn't pull up within Word itself. nm

Pros & Cons of ESP word expansion program?
Does this work pretty well? (I have Word 2002)  I'd like not to have to buy any software.  Any opinions on ESP?  Any other Word-compatible programs that work well, also?
That would depend on the employer's set up. Word can be interfaced with another program, sm
in that, Word would be running remotely, but in conjunction with another program. If this is the case, the documents would be saved on the employer's server and not on any drive on your pc as a Word document. If you using Word exclusively, when saving a document it would be stored on your computer's hd and/or a cd.
Get a decent word expansion program like PRD or Shorthand sm
autocorrect is very limited.  If you want to make money, your really need a good expander.
Can't do it. Word is kind of a clumsy program, there's a lot that is self-evident that it sho
1. Take care of that capitalization issue you were talking about.
2. Capitalize after a colon : 99% of the time, you want a capital.
3. Capitalize reliably after a period. If doing numbers, like 3.7 for a potassium, or 6.8 for a white count, it won't cap after the period (White count 2.8. hemoglobin was... the H in hemoglobin won't auto cap). Come on, Microsoft. Let us decide if we want it or not. Or what to apply it to (tables).
4. About 7 other things that it could do better, but they never work on it. Not as sexy as photos, TVs, gaming. I don't think Microsoft will ever look at Word from the production typist point of view.

Just my input. In the new versions, it won't even capitalize in a numbered list, if you don't hit the shift key. Why are we hitting the shift key 30 years after computers came out? SHouldn't they be doing the work???
