so you think that shrub has the power to
change Islams into Christians? That is just not going to happen, no more than you could change me into a Muslim! No, he needed to go after Bin Laden, a friend of the shrub family, as you may or may not remember. Do you know that he stole away a bunch of Saudi Arabians out of the US the night of 9/11 or 9/12? His buddies. He had to go after somebody and was not going to be Bin Laden, so he thought, and he thought right, that the religious rightwing would accept getting Saddam out of the way. Now professing to want to bring Christianity and freedom to the Muslim world. OMG, if that is not megalomania, I don't know what is!
shrub says he doesn't know what his legacy will be...
because he'll be dead. Well this is one of his legacies...a debt that will probably rip this country to its knees. If this war doesn't, the debt will!!!
and before you start singing praises to shrub
why didn't he go after Bin Laden? He did and is doing nothing to help anyone! He only made things WORSE!!!
people seem to have forgotten that the shrub family
is friends with the family of Bin Laden's... Would he really want to the son of a friend? That's why he let him go, and diverted attention elsewhere. He thought it would be popular.. what a loon!
dear one, shrub gave the terrorists all they ever needed..
an excuse!
tree
This year I did not put my artificial tree up. This is the first year without a tree at Christmas in many, many years. But our children are grown and the grandkids will not be here this year so I decided to skip it. I do love my tree up and really enjoy it but at 50-something I no longer have the energy to do it. Instead, I decorated the house very simply with candles and several nativity sets. I think my home looks Christmasy and it won't be too difficult to put it all away.
We planted a tree
We had a sink hole starting in our backyard once, it was small at first but was getting deeper and wider. That year we planted our live Christmas tree in the hole, with some additional dirt and gravel, etc. My husband figured the roots would help hold the soil in place and it seemed to work for us... no more hole, just a beautiful evergreen.
Tree stumps
Hi, all! Does anyone know how to get rid of tree stumps? Specifically, has anyone ever burned them down to ash? If so, what did you use to keep the fire going, and how long did it take? TIA.
Tree stumps
There are products you can buy that provide microorganisms to the stump that will start the deterioration process and the stump will rot naturally.
You can have the stump ground out. You'll get a variety of prices. If you decide to go this route, please make sure the company you choose is insured and bonded and licensed.
If you decide to try to burn the stump out, you could find it takes a LOT longer that you ever imagined. Also, once you begin to burn the stump, it will make it almost impossible to grind the stump after that if you change your mind about methods of removal. The fire and heat applied to the stump make it extremely dry and hard and.
I had a tree and some big limbs fall due to the past hurricanes in Florida and thought I was going to have to have the stump ground out. I had to call a tree service to trim the other trees in my yard and while there, I had them look at the stump. They were actually able to "bump" the stump out of the ground in less than a minute with a small Bobcat they had brought.
Just be sure to investigate all your options before making your decision. Good luck! :)
tree stumps
I am in the process of burning out some stumps on my property right now (along with a huge brush pile). The guy who is doing it for me has 30 yrs experience and he says that burning it is not always the best method because it can continue burning through the root system for a long time and could crop up in another place and start a fire (not much worry for that at my place right now as I have about 3 ft of snow on the ground). So, burning can be done, just be real careful.
Same here last week. I had a prelite tree
and it was smelling hot. When I checked it the plug had melted into the power strip. Tossed it out immediately and bought a new tree. Glad you and your family are okay. Merry Christmas!

What can we use on the yard for fleas? I got a
cocker spaniel a few months ago to go along with the cats but since the end of June/beginning of July we have been fighting fleas. I'm surrounded by neighbors who both have 2 dogs but their backyard grass is about 3 feet high so now matter how much spraying I do in the yard, the fleas still comes back. I've had the yard and house sprayed a few times this month but the fleas keep coming. We never have a problem with fleas until summer months. I just wish the neighbor would cut his grass more than 3 times a year.
yard work
Did some yard work. My husband mowed the lawn Friday evening. Got delayed for half an hour because I disturbed a yellow jacket nest.
Went to a state park in the p.m. and watched my baby while my husband fished. Didn't catch any as raine poured on us, so we ate at a nearby fish restaurant and got us some good good fried catfish. HHHHmmmmmmm good.
Yard sale
The 4th would be okay if your area gets a lot of traffic. A lot of people "running around" on the holiday weekend. I have known people who did very well on holiday weekends.
Just to warn, clothes don't sell well. Toys, baby items, household items are good sellers. I like to price toward the lower end so that I get rid of it. Those who price high take the risk that the buyer won't bother to "haggle". But you should stand firm if you feel a price is fair, maybe give in if it is getting towards the end of the day.
Have a good one!!!
If not in suburban Denver, 4 words...granola eating tree huggers.

Having my first yard sale. Any suggestions?
It will be some time in July. Any particular weekend that would be best? Probably not around the 4th because people will be out of town, right?
Have lots of clothes and other stuff. Anything that I haven't used in the last 6 weeks or that was not a gift is going. No more clutter for me!
I've never had a yard sale before. Is there anything I should know? Oh, and I hate to haggle. Should I price to high and take the first offer or just price low and stand firm (who me?). I'm not looking to make a fortune. I just want to get rid of my junk and have a little to show for it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Anyone ever have problems with sink holes in your yard?
My grandson was just walking across the yard and his foot gave way and went down to his waist. There are other areas, some large where the ground appears to have sunk somewhat. They live in southeast georgia. If you have experienced this, please share.
Camping in the back yard with the kids sm
when they were small. We had the most fun there than anywhere we went. We had big bonfires, cooked grilled cheeses over the fire and just plain fun. We live near the woods so we had the raccoons, etc, just like being at a campground and it was all free!
Does anyone know how to reset a DVI? I purchased one at a yard sale and *sm*
it did not come with a manual. I am trying to use it for the first time and the dial tone comes up but it is asking for a log in ID. I would also like to purchase a manual if anyone has one. I do believe I can go to the DVI website and ask about purchasing one but that will not help me throughout the weekend in trying to figure out what do do now! Assistance is greatly appreciated!
Yard sale maybe? I have a friend who made $600 in one day
Don't know what it's like wherever you live but in my town yard/garage sales are some people's weekend hobby lol. Get friends to sell stuff too so it is a big one that people will stop at, make the signs big.
hit some yard sales early in the morning
Yard sale! If you have anything in your house you can part with
have a yard sale, or post a cheap ad in those little throw away papers like Pennysaver, NOT the regular newspaper as the ads are too expensive.
Remember that things can be replaced. Good luck!
That happened to me once... guns drawn out in front yard..
lived in a track house, so houses were real close together. Turns out the single woman living next door who seemed to have no end to her money to buy nice stuff was running a racket out of her house, somehow tapping into computers in warehouses for big companies and having merchandise like applicances and computers sent to people without them having been paid for. FBI surrounded the place, digging in trash, etc. They finally got her and she went to federal prison for a while, then came back and skipped parole and they were back for her again. Weird.
I worked grave yard for years but then my jobs all
disappeared by midnight. This very large company said they needed help late and I always did my work, did all the preop hps, etc., but now I am lucky to get 5 jobs a night. This happened to several others that I know, too. It is simply that the off-shore do it cheaper. I did not get paid a differential, either. I just like that shift, but I also need work, so good bye big company
Also, be careful that little girl/parents don't throw something toxic in your yard sm
for the puppy too eat. Sad, but a lot of sickos out there.
Try ebay, yard sales, Recycled Software or BuyCheapSoftware.com
to find inexpensive software. Also, see if you can find a newer version of MS Works because I think it comes with Word now, or you can buy a standalone version of Word without springing for MS Office.
For that matter, wait until you find a job before worrying about it. Not everybody uses MS Word, and some companies provide their own software for you to use. What about going back to Medware or another company that provides software and/or equipment?

We lived on Riverfront Drive with the river running through the back yard.
I always figured it meant riverfront property or the house was in front of the river. LOL
Yard work, painting kitchen cabinets, sanding and priming
kitchen chairs. This morning went out to breakfast with DH and then ran a couple of errands, have already spread weed and feed in the yard and used weeder killer in other areas, cleaned off the patio, cleaned off the bookcase in the den, recycled some stuff, Freecycled some stuff - busy, busy, busy.
I use round glass lids from old Corningware and other glassware for all my pots. Find 'em at yard

we've lost our sense of community, no more back yard fences, no more coffee klatches
It's the sense of community we miss, and there is some semblance of it here. My son has been online since age 10, and he knows the status of the marriages and pregnancies and jobs and traumas of his gameing friends, from his age on up into the 60s, male and female. They comfort each other, congratulate each other. Ranges from students to cops to medial installers to computer geeks. It's a sense of commnity that has sprung up, but that society doesn't really recognize as REAL yet, it's too new.
Buying new
The MT company I work for supplies my computer but I have account on the side from my home computer. I had a computer "cracker" here last week for a serious problem and he suggested I go on line and get a Gateway. Does anyone have any input?
After buying car after car and never really sm
having one completely paid off, I finally got into leasing. I traded for a lease car and had it for 4 years. It was in great shape, inside and out at the end of lease period. I took pictures of the car from all angles to cover myself. Then I "traded" that for another lease, the car which I have now. The payments for lease cars are the same as if you were buying one on loan. The higher the down payment on the lease, the lower the payments are. The longer the lease period, the lesser the monthly payments but there is also the interest charge to consider.
At the end of the lease, though, you have the option of trading it for another car or buying it outright. I leased my current car, a mini SUV, for 4 years with payments of $300 per month, then ended up buying it for $7K at the end of the lease period. I essentially paid the same amount leasing and buying this car as if I had a loan on it. Leasing is not cheap, but you always have a new car. With leasing, you get no equity in the vehicle. If you are a person who wants a new car all the time, then leasing might be good for you. I like a new car all the time, too, but the monthly payments are too hard on my budget. Also with a lease you are required to keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle--more so than if you owned it outright. I don't quite understand your statement about "low payment because you only pay for the amount of money it would depreciate for the time you own it." You never own it, and the monthly payments aren't low.
I hope this helps. I haven't had my caffeine yet.
before buying one...
You should maybe rent one for the weekend, drive it around, and see how you like it. I had a rental when my son wrecked his truck, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I fell absolutely in love and my hubby got me one for Christmas!
Renting one for the weekend will give you a pretty good idea if you're gonna like it or not. I personally have never owned a convertible, but did drive one (my bosses wife's car) and it was ok, though not that great...good luck!
Not buying it...sm
I didn't graduate from CS or from either of the other 2 schools considered the BIG 3. I had a recruiter from MQ call me the very week I passed my course. My instructor gave them my name after I graduated.
And if you look on MQs website under FAQ, it states that under certain circumstances, they will accept candidates with less than 1 year experience if they graduated from ONE of the MT schools MQ has a relationship with.
Sorry. Not buying it.
You must work for the folks who are pushing this fiasco. I can tell you from first hand experience. It indeed DOES take longer or as long (just to be fair) to edit as it does to type it.
You are so right about buying there
I bought several items this year off Etsy for my Christmas presents, flower pens, individual painted flower cups for the ladies I gave to, have bought soaps there before, lots of stuff. I really like Etsy, some really nice things.
I'm not buying it.
These are just some of the incidents some of my Canadian friends have gone through:
1. My GF's husband decided he was still a teenager and went snowboarding, tore up his knee and had a 6-month wait for an MRI.
2. Same GF her best friend had an abnormal mammo. 3 months to get an ultrasound.
3. Ex boyfriend's ex-wife broke her leg while they were skiing. They kept her on Morphine from Friday until Monday because no orthopedic doc was available to do the surg.
4. Another GF of mine was on a specific type of thyroid medication that was the only one that they found worked for her. Then they decided it was not a covered drug anymore and she could no longer get it in Canada.
5. Another GF's husband needed cardioversion waited over a month to get it, meanwhile he was in horrible shape, legs and ankles swollen.
I'm sorry this is not acceptable patient care. The latest estimate is $1.3 trillion dollars to re-structure our health care the way Obama wants it restructured. Everyone puts Bush down for his "agenda" on Iraq no matter what the consequences. This is "Obama's" agenda. This country does not need another $1.3 trillion debt for future generations to have to try to pay off. JMHO.
I'm sorry, is anybody buying this story? sm
part-time, 16,000 per pay period!!! Come on, I'm not buying this at all.
Buying local ....
Unfortunately, some of us don't live in areas that have a lot of choice. My town is tiny and we have a teensy WalMart that has items that (I really think this!) have been there waiting to be sold since the day it opened years ago! I buy from JC Penney's from a catalog outlet here in town (if they're open) or online, sometimes I shop in one of the larger neighboring cities. Frankly, unless I'm buying cotton or watermelon, it ain't happening here :-).
However, in defense of your statement, when I lived in a larger city and had variety (and choices!) I did shop in town more often than not. I miss those days LOL.
BOS is changed so you have to keep buying the new one--$$$$

Better off buying on Ebay.
I bought this computer and what a mess. I was told that it was bought for her daughter just the previous year and still had the warranty. She was going to transfer the warranty to my name.
I thought that because I used paypal I would be safe, but that is only if you buy off of E-bay. When I received the computer, it was a whole two years older than I was told and there was no longer any warranty. The seller conveniently died a week after I received the computer.
So, if anyone contacts you about this computer, BEWARE.
Just an FYI when buying it from another user
Be sure to notify Textware Solutions that you purchased it & who you purchased it from so we can update our records showing that you are now the licensed owner. This will ensure that you can receive technical support, discounted upgrades in the future, etc.
I usually stick with buying........
...mine from the tattoo shops. However, I most recently bought one at one of those little jewelry stands in the mall and I haven't had any problems with it.
Buying a house sm
I need some advice.
We're in the process of buying a home. When we were searching today for quotes on a homeowners policy, we found out the home had $14,000 in water damage in 2003 and the insurance company (Farm Bureau) wouldn't insure it for us. There was, however, one company who would insure it but for a really high premium.
We were supposed to close on the 25th. I'm considering backing out of the deal because of this. Would I be able to get my earnest money back since the seller didn't reveal in this in their disclosure?
Also, would you pay the higher premium and buy the house because maybe whatever caused the problem is fixed?
By the way, we haven't had the inspection yet. It is to be done on Monday.
Help!!!
No sense is buying anything until you have a job.
Transcribers are rarely used anymore unless you get a local account. C-phones are still used occasionally, but most work is done using a foot pedal. If a company requires a foot pedal to test you can use Express Scribe, which is free, and just use the hot keys. I wouldn't want to use hot keys all the time, but they are fine for testing.
