ADHI's first challenge might be to save our level/type of work from disappearing altogether? Is there some element of needing to go along to get along? They really are a little organization in a big busy world that's spinning into the future under nobody's control, and certainly not theirs.
Not making excuses for them--I don't know. I just suspect there's likely a whole lot more to it. IMO, everything's typically complicated as Hades and there's always a lot I don't know.
Regarding staying in nice hotels, I think that one's a given. A significant part of the job has to be schmoozing high-level healthcare people as they lobby for the importance and continuation of our type of work.
There's always been a lot of talk about our "profession." It always seemed too high-flown to me, pushing for more respect and talking about higher wages even as computers were starting to replace us.
But since computers are replacing standard clerical work, are they working eventually toward saving and developing our work function to one that requires more education and perhaps other duties not previously part of it? For instance like tagging data for databanks as we review?
I'd like to think the future might allow me to continue providing a needed service right as I am, with just a few community college or AHDI classes to help me continue on if needed.
Anyone who's paid a lot more attention than me care to weigh in with more than just wishes or complaints?
