My thoughts are, when their bad kharma finally comes back to them, I hope it really hurts. Then they'll know how it feels to be an MT.

I swear, the people who manage
this site should put a button right under  'main board' that says 'MQ Gripe Board' so that the seemingly hundreds of disgruntled MQ'ers can gripe and  argue all day long and the rest of us would be spared.  Every page of this board is filled with arguments between the MQ gripers and the few MQ folks who claim they are happy.  At some point you'd think the (MQ people) would realize that non MQ'ers don't want to hear this stuff every single day, all day long.
Bad things? what bad things? people's being petty and small?

Here's another reason why health care is so high people can't afford it and ...SM

A while back I had to go to the ER for a particularly bad Meniere's episode.  I asked for an itemized bill, and you know what they charged me for 4 mg of ondansetron?

$544.

What, like most people don't do those things?
I have a low flow shower head and a water conserving toilet.  You don't even need to shower or wash your hair daily.  Nobody gets that dirty.  Take a sponge bath every other day.  I had my house weatherized and analyzed for energy efficiency to be sure I wasn't wasting gas or electricity.  Then I updated the windows, insulated the house, and installed a new energy efficient furnace.  Then there's the on-demand water heaters instead of the ones that run all the time.  I have no magazine or newspaper subscriptions because you can find everything you want to read online.  I resell, reuse, or donate everything I can.  I recycle aluminum, glass, paper, plastic, tin, and any lumber or metal scraps.  I avoid styrofoam and CFCs.  I work at home so I don't have to commute.  I have an electric scooter and a bicycle so I don't have to drive.  I have my own organic garden and compost bin.  I freeze or can my homegrown fruits and vegetables, then reuse the jars the next year.  This reduces the need for tin cans and for semi trucks to transport the cans to my grocery store, too.  I even divert rainwater for watering purposes instead of running a hose.  Everybody I know of does all of those things and more.  We're not treehuggers preaching to everyone else about how we're holier than thou either.
But if people who know things do not post
it on the board, how should TechSupport know that some people already know it?

So she offers her knowledge in a, as she explained it,
rather extensive and elaborate way, so to give all the information and avoid misunderstandings.
End of discussion!

Today is Saturday, my free day, I have to bake a chocolate-cream-cheese cake for my daughter who comes and visits!

Have a nice Saturday evening!
She's not mental, it's just that she's right about many things people can't face up to...

Most of what she says is true.  It's been far more documented as fact and the truth than the information the administration has given and still gives.

As far as soldiers.....read optruth.org.  There are many soldiers who do not agree with this war or how this administration has handled it and they need to be listened to.

You'd probably be AMAZED at how many people do fall for these things.

I love the way everyone things VR people are the slow ones
I type about 140 wpm and averaged on straight typing over 2000 lines per day. The hospital was outsourced and VR took over. I love VR and why do you assume that only slow typists like? I love it, our system is not crap and now I average above 500 or more lines per hour. Don’t know where people get off talking about the slow ones. You are assuming.
QA discrepancy... told 2 different things by 2 different people. How would you handle this?

I am a brand new employee, so don't feel comfortable in this situation.

TIA

Some people have said things about reliability issues. Others have said there can be problems with

.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - animals know things people don't.

Yes, odd. But, have they ruled out other things such as a brain clot? When people die sm
in their sleep, it could be a number of things. Since it just happened, I would imagine they are running multiple tests right now.

If, and this is huge speculation...If he was on drugs before or then, then an MI is definitely possible and not unusual at this age.
why do people want to turn nice things dirty?
I am so sick of people like this that just seem to ruin everything.  This is how it all starts!!!! I love that this is a place I could be with my fellow MTs since I work at home.  This is like my office!!!   I love that our mod is looking out for us.  THANKS!!!!
What I think is so sad is that people may give up good jobs to go there to find out these things all
to late. The newbies can learn and use MQ and move on which they do but of course the clients suffer then with all the people learning on them but this is what MQ causes and when they lose clients with poor quality or people that just throw out work then they caused their own problems. You cant keep good MTs with no work I dont care what incentives you offer because they mean nothing with no work ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I wish people would understand that when MQ hires them.
Bless your heart and your sons. Some people just don't know when to NOT mess with things
Sorry you have a goof for an ex, and I hope your son's footie will be ok. Chillie
PS! Also watch out for people who leave things attached to your doorknob -
I'm sitting right here in the front room (drapes usually drawn where I sit), and I not only hear them come up to leave stuff on the door, I ALSO hear them try the knob to see if it's unlocked. Pretty darned creepy how many low-lifes and predators there are out there.....
Those things are not indicative of a hero, RadGuy. People who fought in battle
are hero's.  One who puts themselves in harms way to protect another is a hero.
I agree, jeez, I can't believe how quick people are to suggest quitting the minute things are bad.

where does your mom manage? sm
My dad managed stores in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

I guess you are probably as surprised as I am that anyone would think that managers in big retail giants don't make good money.
use someone else to manage
Have someone else contact her as a manager besides yourself and explain to her the rules are for everybody and have to be uniform.
How do you manage that?
Gosh it must take quite a balancing act to get them all done? What do you tell one when you have to do the other? How do you decide which one you will do? Do you have other people that will cover for you when need be? Telephone must be ringing off the chain all the time....
How do you MQ employees manage
to get in your 1200 lines in only 8 hours? I am having a dickens of a time, lots of ESLs, new account, etc. Just how do you do it? I figure it will take me 12 hours! Do you ask them to approve OT or what? I'm new at this, need to know. Have to have that insurance.
Yes, I do manage to get enough work on my
account through Amherst, at least so far, but I guess I should just be considered extremely lucky.
How can I manage 2 jobs. I am currently
working as an employee with good benefits, but I hate the company.... treated like a doormat.  I work as IC part time for another company that I love and am very productive and love the sofware platform.  I am considering trying to do the 1000 line requirement for the full-time in order to keep benefits, and then do 1000 lines for the company as IC.  How does one juggle this type of situation?
Thanks to all... I did manage a chuckle or two
from your stories.  But why does it have to be like this?  Just because we work at home?  I think I will go on strike.  Just keep my office clean since that is the only place I get to be these days.  I have a reprieve from my second job tonight so I think I will just close my eyes, close my ears and shut off all other senses to the slobs I live with and leave for night for my women's group party I did not plan to go to.  Thank to all.
I do know how to manage a team, obviously,

since I have my own service.  I know that you can't put someone with much less experience in a position over a bunch of people with a lot of experience.  It just does not work.  I not only have a lot of MT experience, but I have been a service owner for quite a few years.  Before that, I worked in a hospital transcription department with a lot of seasoned MTs.  Through the years you see a lot of supervisory changes and what it boils down to is the experienced MTs need/want someone who knows more than they do, someone they can go to for help, when they need it.  With someone less experienced, they can't.

One of the big problems people had with Medquist when it started was that the "suits" were running things - not people who actually knew what they were doing when it came to transcription.  You have to know both sides of it.  And I can tell you from years and years of experience, it doesn't work when you try to put someone with less experience over those with lots of experience.  The seasoned MTs have NO respect for someone who knows less than they do.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

Were you exhausted? How do you manage?
I'm finding it hard to do the things I wanted.  I also work the spli shift thing, but im so tired.  I dont know if im trying to work too much and i just need to go to PT or what.  Also, I would like to be more instructional, work with maps, field trips to the museums and such.  How did you do that?
I manage just fine...
Wow... um, yes. I get plenty of work done. I'm not in the country and I use headphones and the noise of being outside doesn't bother me or interfere just like indoor noises (the heater, the ice maker, creaking floorboards) don't bother me inside. I also have no trouble seeing on my laptop screen and I don't have anything special for it. And, uh, it would have to be a serious insect swarm for the sound of bugs to be loud enough to keep me from hearing my work.

I don't work from bed because I'm lazy, I work in bed (occasionally, rather than calling in sick) because I have joint issues that make me more fatigued when sitting up typing all day. I would not put myself in a position where I was falling asleep on the job (I'm not lying down, I'm sitting up straight, just my back is supported and my legs are extended rather than hanging down).

I am a professional and I've been in this business a long time, I just don't see any reason to be trapped behind a desk if I don't have to be. We are fortunate enough to work in a career that gives us some perks like flexibility and a home environment, so I try to make the most of it. Being happy and comfortable enhances my production and I don't get burnt out as easily when I can change the scenery a little every now and then. Everyone should obviously work in whatever fashion helps them succeed but I don't think there's anything wrong with sitting on the porch on a nice day or working from a comfy spot on not so nice ones.

To each his own, I guess... I'd bet there are plenty of pajama-wearing MTs around here that are grateful to be able to have that option. I don't work in jammies but I do kick back once in awhile and work with my situation to the best of my ability.

Anyway... it works for me. I was just making the suggestion for others that struggle with pain issues or would like an occasional alternative to the same old desk.
I manage my former boss's websites (he has 2), --
other than that, sell some stuff I don't need anymore on ebay now and then...did about $200 a month for about a year.....got rid of most everything though I really wanted to dump...have a few things now I need to list so maybe I will get lucky this month!
It is very difficult to manage this program.
It has a lot of flaws, locks up frequently, some issues with voice quality, etc. I would put it at the bottom of the list of considerations.
You don't manage your own savings account?
5 grand instead of the government.
not true, I make good $$$ and manage to come
nm
email back and mention how you don't know how they manage on so little.

Yeah, you have to be a doctor now to manage your own care!
I still have daily fevers of 100-102 18 months postop, so I know what you mean. Does the 4 abscesses draining for weeks on end tell them anything? I had severe hypertension that despite 17 doctors along with PAs and nurses could not diagnose despite "the worst headaches of my life," blood pressure of 216/106, slurred speech, collapsing in the shower, mental confusion, extremely loud tinnitus, chest pain, shortness of breath, lower extremity edema, etc. I type OPs and pain management, so I was clueless. One day I was typing "The patient started Norvasc, and his headaches improved." I ran to the doctor and stomped on the floor until I got a hypertensive. Then, what do they give me? Hydrochlorothiazide, when I have severe hypertension. Nitwits. I could go on and on. Best advise, make sure you are in charge of your care. Good luck!
I am going to order Shorthand for myself today. I love it. You can also manage your words in
:+
You work full time, manage a house and cut 11 acres? No way man! Not me :)
NM
if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.

As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.
so many people was wishy-washy nowadays...love to see people make
a stand for what they believe in...

it is kind of wierd those statements have to be made in the first place but guess we are an ever-transitioning country and are still young. so many different beliefs yet not much tolerance.

I found your post respectful, and right on as to how you feel. it does not seem that difficult to sift through to read and respond to messages someone might not care for...
Just remember that it is not the people on this board who short changed their people and ONLY after
caught did they (after they were suied) make an effort to look good by sending out these checks. Now, think about this--had they done this many years ago when they short changed everyone, that would have been honest. Does it not bother you that only after they know they are under the gun that they are doing this to try and make themselves look good?

I used to work for MQ and I used to like what I did. I never can say I really liked the people that I worked with, but I really think they had some of the best accounts that I have ever come across in the MT industry. I loved working the major teaching hospitals that I did, but that certainly does not mean that I enjoyed being cheated out of pay.

So chill already. People have been cheated, were lied to, and only AFTER they got caught have they tried to return some of the money they robbed us of (as well as cheated their clients).

We all have reasons not to be happy with this company and you go off on us because we are complaining of things like small refund checks of a penny or a few cents or a few hundred dollars and NO WAY to even check to find out if this is correct?

I am sorry you are unhappy all of us thinking that there is still a dead rat in the cellar, but there is still a dead rat in the cellar and nothing will bring the dead rat back.

I would hold no love for a company that I know willingly cheated the very people who helped THEM make money out of their hard-earned money.

Go take a deep breath and think about that.
My people skills are just fine. I just want to hire people who want to work.
I've not been ugly, I've asked questions, legitimate ones.  Please tell me what is wrong with that.  This site is not just for MTs, it is for QA Editors, Supervisors, Service Owners, there's even sections for Billers, Coders, and Nurses.
rude people? I would take good pay over polite people any day
Besides that they have never been rude to me and I have been here for almost 2 years. What do you consider a bad account?

I know my account is a little tough, but I am used to it. I am tough!
Rude people? I hardly think so. They are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with. sm
Not just management, but QA as well. No one is rude. They are a very understanding staff. There is one account that is hard but all it takes is getting used to it. Once you are used to it, it is no harder than any other ESL account that you would do anyplace else. I have heard all these things about TH from the archives and I have yet to come across rudeness or any kind of thing that I have read about in the archives. I would definitely pursue them if I were you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
2 people to do that amount of work, is she nuts? More like 20+ people - nm

Health Ins
I also have a high deductible and a medical account that I put money away pre-tax dollars to pay for partial deductible, dental visits, contacts, etc.  But my insurance even with the deductible still pays for office visits with a co-pay and most of my docs that I work for will treat me at a reduced rate, give me samples, etc.  So it is mainly if I have a heart attack, broken leg, etc.  I figure I can always pay the $2000 but not the $10 K.   I am 59 years old.  I also have a self employed retirement fund that this year am contributing 1,000 a month to.  Also putting money into my house for my retirement.  All of this is off what my company makes and so I do not have to pay the 15.75% to SS for it and so that helps to lower the cost for me.  You can do it, you just have to figure out how to and if that means driving an older car or not buying as many clothes, I just do it.  I won't have much when I retire dur to late age divorce but I will make it on my own and still have some fun.
Health Ins.

Are you applying for a private ins. policy.  Are you currently covered under a Cobra or group plan?

Private policies can and do deny you for smoking.  If you are currently covered under Cobra which has not yet expired you can apply to the same ins. co, and they can't deny you coverage (if you are currently covered with them now)***  That is the big "IF".

those of you that have independent health

insurance, what companies are the policies with? i've done the quote thing with a couple online services that quote several companies, but i've heard of very few of the companies that reply. does anyone have mega? or heard of nase?? or even which companies to avoid would be extremely appreciated. (i'm in indiana with 1 child).   TIA!!!!

Re: Health insurance
Of note: When I was working in a doctor's office, we had a patient, who went to a hospital ER approved by her insurance, unfortunately, the doctor treating her did not accept her insurance. It was still in litigation the last I was aware. So tell me; how are you suppose to protect yourself in this instance....say you are comatose or unresponsive upon arrival....???
Health Insurance

Does anyone have any information on health insurance for ICs? I am a new MT and have only been working for three months, and unfortunately the company that I work for does not offer benefits.  If anyone has any information I would really appreciate it.

Oh! By the way I know about Blue Cross Blue Shield, and will not consider going through them. They are way too expensive and they do not cover any pre-existing conditions.

health insurance
I'm afraid your stuck honey! There are NO companies that provide health insurance for ICs. Sorry ):
Health Insurance
I just enrolled my 12 year old daughter in an AETNA insurance plan. They offer plans just for children and offer 3 different HMO's.  I picked the best of the 3, with a 10.00 copay and no referrals, for $105.00 per month. Can't beat that!
Health insurance - HELP?!!
Does anyone know of any health insurance I can get? 55-year-old MT (good health)& asking through web and/or phone is a nightmare.  Does anyone have GOOD health insur. for a nominal cost? (& dental/vision if have). A few yrs ago I heard of some "upcoming" health ins. for MTs for 1-200/mth (!!?) but never heard again.  I really need health insurance.  Please help if you can; am sick of brokers & agents who do nothing but give the runaround.  Currently in San Diego but may go back to KY next year (home).  Thx again!
