I went through FASFA and student loans where I cosigned
for my son. Banks offer student loans also. My son is going to Morehouse but the bank Bank of America) only had student loan if his major was medicine.
student loans can be filed on after 10 years
of no payment. I did it. Unfortunately.
I forgot to add with the student loans the child pays
when he is less than full-time or finishes college.
All Chris did was cover the band Live's cover of the song. He
didn't do anything special.
True, but the monies go to the same place.
:)
Used to do loans -
and you need to have been in your line of work for 2-years minimum to qualify for a loan. If you change jobs in the same line of work, whether IC or employee, as long as you stay in the same line of work, you are fine. They are only looking for 2-years of steady work. I have always been an IC and because my husband was new in real estate (less than 2 years), we bought our house in my name alone!! That is the rule, 2-years, same line of work, no problem! Good luck to you.
If you search the posts, I think the Company board, you will find that the monies paid to AAMT
for CMT/RMT cerifications are being used to offer "India" rates to workers in India to test for their CMT/RMT cerifications. I REFUSE TO BELONG TO SAID ORGANIZATION AND I WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE MY HARD-EARNED FUNDS TO HELPING INDIANS GET CREDENTIALED.
What a bummer
I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Appreciate your heads up.
I've learned the hard way to only hire from within. No one can move into a QA position here until they've been a part of our IC team as a Transcriptionist and proves him/herself to be capable and reliable.
Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.
Bummer
Gateway still has them online. That is what I have and the US based customer service is great
Well, that's a bummer...
I hope they can help you figure out how to make it stick.
That is a bummer. NM

Wow, what a bummer. Sounds like you are doing OK despite
Most of society doesn't know what to DO with people with higher IQs, especially the schools. My IQ was "leaked" to my parents in high school as a means of "motivating" me because I had "such potential". Makes me wanna barf to this day. Potential, yeah, right. And of course, it gave OTHER kids fits of jealousy and insecurity so I was a geek from then on. It just does not help a child or teen, for others to know his/her IQ, it just leads to crap like all these flamers who are dissing people who post their IQs! It's the classic bullying thing from school, transposted onto the 'net. Crappy human nature, all over again.
I say, if you have found a niche, and are comfortable in your own skin, god bless you. Keep doing whatever makes the world fit to your specs.
I used to check out a dozen or more books from the city library every few days, go home, read them all and check them back in. I think I was 9 or 10. Finally the librarian had HAD it and started reaming my mom for checking out so many books that I wasn't reading, I should be leaving them there for others, since I could not possibly read them all. That next few weeks my mom made me do book reports on every book I read (probably 10 of em in 4 days, and I handed them in to the librarian the next visit. Now THAT shut her up!
What a bummer all this happened on your
BD. Hope you get a nice BD dinner out of it all!!
What is a major bummer is...
A lot of the older MTs in this neck of the woods have lost their jobs not to outsourcing, but inability to keep up with technology, and it's not their fault either. All of these transcribing companies seem to have upgraded their technology so now people NEED high-speed internet/cable, and dial-up just won't do anymore. Imagine losing your job because the cable/phone company won't string up cable or DSL in your neighborhood because your're just too rural. It's a huge problem and I can see why that would make many people (including myself) jaded. What in the heck do you do for work when all you've known is transcribing? Hardly any hospital hires in-house these days either. Scary times indeed.
bummer, just keep testing
for many companies, you will get one soon.
Major bummer dude!
This is my 2nd Saitek...the first one had silver keys and oh ya, I got the paint on them babies worn off within 6 months. I'm totally bummed to hear this one will do the same thing, because I really looked at it hard before buying and saw the letters were "etched" in and not painted on. It's no biggie for me, being a touch typist, but when family or friends want to plink around, they got totally lost...plus it looked fargin' ugly too.
I use the angry red lights when typing that ESL crap (red alert!), and the happy purple the rest of the time. The old one was just blue, so I'm kinda sick of that for right now, but it is so much fun to mess with the mood lighting. Simple pleasures for simple minds
bummer - 'record new macro' is grayed out and I can't use it! - nm

I think they mean they don't pay what is owed
I used to work for somebody who did this. They sent the work to India and they worked for free for about 3-4 months without getting paid (yeah, they kept working) and then they would move on to the next company.
Bummer. I know those things aren't cheap. Better luck next time!

I'm glad you think you are owed that much.
I have rarely seen such a ludicrous response as yours.
No moneys owed
Well the problem is........ she is not owed any other moneys.
I have been in business a long time and have always paid the ICs. Doris Latta loves to have drama going. THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING! Where is it?
You should be paid what is owed...
I am glad you are not letting this go and posts like this should remind companies that when you receive a service you have to pay for it. I have had trouble getting paid from other places too, and I am glad you are going after what is rightfully yours. Best of luck to you!
How do I go about getting money owed me
by a small MTSO. She owes me a little over $2000 and I really worked hard for that money but have not yet gotten received it. This is owed me for pay periods ending 4/30 through 05/31. I will not mention names here because I'm not sure I am allowed to do that but would really like to let everyone know who it is so the same thing doesn't happen to them. Thanks for your help.
No, they sent me a check for 2 cents saying they owed it to me. lol
I had better decide where to spend it
I once owed $34,000.00 in back taxes
and set up a repayment schedule, had the money taken out. They did not take all my check, just a small amount, as long as they were paid every month, and it took me over 7 years, but I finally paid them off. They were very, very cooperative and we told that what we could afford to pay them monthly and still pay our bills. They said okay and that was that. I never had any problem with them and I never went to one of those places. Maybe try talking with them and explain your situation.
If someone owed me money since October, I would tell them that I
was not doing any more work for them until they paid me. Hope you did not do the stat for them.
Your $4K cost you $900?? I just did my taxes and on $7182 I owed - sm
$1099 in SE taxes, are you sure you figured it out right? I can't believe my taxes for almost 2 x as much were only $200 or so more than yours. Something does not seem right.
They at least owed you a call/email stating they would not -
After being in contact with an applicant, having them fill out a form, etc., it's just plain rude to give them no feedback whatsoever. What if an applicant let another job pass by while waiting for this one, thinking it was a better job and that because things had gone well on the phone conversation, that the application process would at least continue. Very unfair to you, and very rude of the employer.
didnt work so owed no money
it is bigger equipment and expensive. AND they never worked so I did not owe them any money. Some were so "anxious" to work that I spent a small fortune sending it overnight so they could "get started" because they really needed to work. I want to believe in the best of people, but it is getting harder and harder.
Send me the proof of the over $1900.00 that is owed. If you can prove to me
that you paid that amount, then all posts will be removed. I am not talking about any previous monies paid, but the last monies owed of over $1900.00.
Anybody hired a lawyer to get money owed from MTSO?
I have given MTSO 7 days to finally pay an old invoice but still nothing. Has anybody ever hired a lawyer to write a demand letter and how much did it cost? I believe I have to send demand letter before filing in small claims. The invoice is for just over $200 so don't want to spend a lot of money and be out even more $$.
thanks.
I have definitive proof from the MT that the money is owed. The MT is also taking action
on her part to get the unpaid wages compensated by the owner through the Labor Board.
The problem is getting an attorney to represent these poor folks that are owed money.
Knowing etranz, they'll just file bankruptcy.
Ditto on Voice Systems. I have a friend who worked for them and ended up being owed .... SM
way more than $1000 when the first company went bankrupt. Also I had applied but decided not to take the job, and the MTSO literally begged me to come to work for them. I'm sure glad I didn't. Maybe this present company they've started will be better, but so far, it doesn't sound like it.
It is about more cover up
There isn't one thing liberal about it. It is about, as noted, covering it, glossing right by it .. better than the rest of us .. rules don't count .. do what you want .. you run the show attitude that these idiots have adopted in their bid to right wing the world and do what they want. Does Dick Cheney really need to be out shooting birds??? My God, he actually makes George look like the smart one now!! Scares me too death to know these fools are in the woods playing with guns.
Just have to cover yourself
I have an account that asks that I not use subcontractors but for vacation it is okay and I know if I had a two week illness or something they would be okay with it but for everday use, they don't want anyone but me. But again, I only work with verbal contracts and I know that means I could be let go at any time but so could they. I have asked my accounts every year for the past seven to ten years if they want a contract and they say no need for it. So we just keep on plugging along with each other.
Most likely will not cover
Unless they are considered a "dependent" and living with your or their main residence is with you when not attending college, they will not cover. Once they reach the age of 18, they must be attending college/school full-time and you have t have a form filled out by the school. Sorry.
ps CTA meaning to cover their a**.

Is this the same as Sheer Cover?
and wondered if it was any good; it's less expensive than Bare Minerals, I think. It seemed that in the infomercials, they applied a lot of concealer beforehand, so I was wondering what the difference was from using liquid makeup and then powder to set. ?
I use Sheer Cover . .
They let me order only two times a year. They also break the payments into two payments. I was going to cancel, and they said I could get the kit without the face wash and moisturizer, so it's a pretty good deal. I like it very much.
You can cover dependents (but I think it's SM
pretty pricey) and office copays are $20.
WC does not cover CPS any longer. They sm
have determined that it is not caused by typing. Can you believe that?????
Take the cover off the litterbox.

Cover letter
I am a professional resume writer, as well as an MT for some years now. It is advisable to send a cover letter with the resume as it shows you have an interest in the company and it is a means of introducing yourself. If I can be of further help, please e-mail me.
So, if I hire someone to cover a specific
eight-hour period and she decides she wants to stop after six hours and spend the last two hours of her shift making dinner, how is the work that comes in during those two hours supposed to get done? Or does that not matter in your world? I have contractual TAT to meet, and I determine schedules on that basis, not on someone's dinner plans. If an employee of mine agrees to cover a specific period of time but fails to do so for something other than a legitimate emergency (and the OP was clearly already making plans not to work the full eight hours of her shift), then that employee is fired. I can do that. I have done that. I don't care how much work gets done in the first six hours. If someone has a specific eight-hour shift, it's because there is work to be done during all eight hours. Leaving the last two hours of work undone on a whim could put me out of business. I will not allow some little princess to do that to me.
A good of thumb is 30%, that should cover everything.

Well, I read in the cover story of the TV...sm
I read in the TV book a story about this season of the Sopranos and they did say Tony does get knocked off....but Uncle Jr is the only one in the house, completely flipped out, and Carmela is out and about but about to get in her new car and drive home. I'm thinking that Tony dies and she has got that new car and perhaps the police will think she had motive to kill him........ohno....
Uncle Jr is totally *out to lunch* at the moment in my opinion.
Thanks for the optimism though!!!
be sure your insurance will cover surgery AFTER sm
he's going to lose so much weight the skin will be hanging and a lot of insurance companies will not pay for "cosmetic" procedures like tummy tucks, etc. to get rid of the excess skin. Just be aware. Good luck!!
question about cover letters
If the job ad says send your resume, do you send a cover letter also?
When account specifics does not cover
I usually refer to BOS and it states to add the year if not stated - if you are sure of the year. Also - interestingly enough - it says if you are doing long dictation and doc says labs done on April 4, 2006 are.........and then says additonal labs 4/5.... okay to used slashed date - this is on page 121 of BOS edition 2 if you are interested. That being said don't think you would be WRONG to leave off the year if it is verbatim account :))
Are you a new MT or a student? sm
Your first post said you were a new MT, the last post you said you were a student. If you are indeed a new MT then finding someone to help you with some of the dictation might be beneficial. However, if you are a student and you need help transcribing reports, you definitely don't need to be paying someone to do them for you. Transcribe the reports, leave blanks for what you are unable to understand or for things you cannot document. Submit the reports and await the feedback. That's how you learn. The first and foremost thing is to take some thing that you can understand and research that. You will be amazed at what you find when you look for it.
