just wait, i'm sure they'll get to all of us
that is how some of the nastiness starts on this board, too many rumors and not enough facts. When MQ calls you, if you want you can post your facts, don't rely on others for their info
I'll probably wait until January...
and see what havoc is wreaked on my pay - but at this point there is just so much wreaking already...
I guess you'll have to wait for the TV version then

Wait'll you've been in it for THREE decades,

You know what they say, if you don't like the weather in Ky - wait 5 minutes, it'll change - i
nice to see rain and maybe they will release our water restrictions, of course, now I don't need to water my lawn but maybe washing my car would be nice.
I do. I guess I'll wait a few mintues before disconnecting from the VPN
after I close out EXText. I guess I'm just in too big of a hurry to shut down when my shift is over!
I'll wait a few days, week or so, no hassle, no BO to smell, it will be worth SM
the extra money.
In a rear-end 1 year ago, the 24th,
In my state, you have 4 years to settle. But, what they are offering is X amount LESS the 5000 in medical bills, WRONG,is not happening. Until they begin to talk "new money", a settlement is not going to happen. The guy totaled a brand new car, had 13 days. Good luck, but would never settle until all pain is gone and medical bills have been paid, wait until it is getting close to the 2 year limit.
Ha! ... They should get a look at one of MY paychecks!
Not even enough to keep the lights on!
Bounced paychecks
When it happened to me many years ago, the first time my check bounced I figured it was a fluke. The second time, I went directly to the California Labor Board. I not only got my money, they also found LOTS of little illegalities going on at that person's company, and they put her out of business. I sure didn't lose any sleep over it. Plus I had already quit, anyway.
Late paychecks
I hope you do not work for D&L Typing - they have a history of paying late and then not at all. Beware, they also work under a new name no one is supposed to know about.
In any event - Send them an invoice with late fees and penalties - you are a independent contractor - if you do not pay your bills you get charged, charge them.

Growing Physician Shortage Could Jeopardize Care, Fuel Health Care Cost Increases
[Jun 05, 2006]
The Los Angeles Times on Sunday examined how "[a] looming doctor shortage threatens to create a national health care crisis by further limiting access to physicians, jeopardizing quality and accelerating cost increases."
How common is it in MT to have late paychecks? (sm)
I work for what is probably a small MTSO. (I don't know how many clients she has, just that she's a one-woman operation as far as office staff, and she runs the place out of her home.) I have worked for four MTSOs. The first one right out of school consistently paid late. The next two never paid late. This one, and I have been with her for over two years, didn't used to pay late but now is consistently late with making payroll.
I am not doing this job as a way of just making 'mad money'. I had to borrow money from my parents today in order to make the mortgage, as the paycheck due on the 31st of August is not going to be paid until late next week. I am very frustrated, but we are told that this is the 'nature of the business'. I'm not an ignorant woman... I know that small businesses can (and should) have a line of credit with a bank/credit card for emergencies like equipment breakdowns and to make payroll. I suppose she can't qualify, poor credit, whatever... But I am getting frustrated because her inability to make payroll on time is affecting my ability to pay my bills on time, not only my mortgage but my utilities, credit card, etc.
How prevalent is this problem? I love my accounts, I make a better than average line rate (I am an independent contractor), and my MTSO is really a lovely lady... so I hate to go to another MTSO, but I am considering going back to my old career (teaching) now that my kids are in school, just for the benefits and consistent payment. It's nothing personal, I just need to get paid for my work! Does anyone else experience this problem?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much! (Sorry for any typos, I am working and am kind of typing this in a rush...)
I'd say you need a grip. This is exactly why fewer MTs are commenting on here
They get blasted and basically reprimanded for giving an opinion. How about some common courtesy.
We love to help!, but we can only do so much when newbies don't have experience and fewer places
,
I check no fewer than 5 websites or 5 google searches
often I go further than that, but I've been doing this a long time and get stumped a heckava lot less than I used to.
I basically search at least 5 different ways and check at least 5 websites before giving up. That's presumably after I've checked my own word books, of course.
I think employees should leave fewer blanks and certainly know all the place names
that an IC would be less interested in. And the employee should be diligent about area physician names that I wouldn't expect an IC to know as much about.
5 minutes to myself, quiet, a shower with quiet and no interuptions (never happens) and fresh air -

I don't know the particular MD, but I had plastic surgery in August. sm
What I did was talk to nurses. Nurses are a wealth of info, and they really know the docs. In my talking to nurses, I even found a few who had chosen the surgeon for themselves. I'm not shy, so I'll tell you that I had breast reduction surgery. Aside from my talking to nurses who worked in anesthesia, surgery, and oncology departments, I also spent a good amount of time with the doc. I made sure he was board certified, asked lots of detailed questions, and he also showed me photos of previous patients and the results of the surgery. He showed me photos of both good and bad results, which was a really good thing. There are risks to any surgery, and it's good to actually see what can go wrong.
It took a while, but it really paid off on the end. My surgeon and I communicated well, and I'm very happy with the results of my surgery.
I just did the same thing back in August - sm
upgraded my "old" phone and bought a new flip phone for $20 at Dollar General (they wanted $50 on-line for the same phone. Called and had my minutes transfered, now all calls are 1 "unit" a call no matter where I am (was most 2 on my old one as I was usually roaming when I used it). I also got the double minutes for life plan, so all I have to do now is the yearly connection fee ($99), still a lot cheaper than buying and signing up for a 2-year contract anywhere else. The only difference I see with my new phone is it does not work as well as the old one did (it seems to work in more areas); but it works very well at home (the old one barely worked here if at all), just cuts out around the kids school and south of there (very remote there). Great phone to have for anyone who only uses it for emergencies or quick calls like, "oh, do we need milk, I am at the store." type stuff.
I asked in early August to change
accounts and was told NO. I also have a very difficult account with mostly ESL docs and residents, who ask you to go back and correct a million things or stay on there saying umm, umm, umm.
Would love to switch accounts or offices - something. I don't want to quit.
Well I DID have bleeding with my ectopic pregnancy in August, so it is possible.
An early ultrasound at the hospital was incorrectly read at the hospital as intrauterine, but when my OB/GYN did another ultrasound, it was ectopic.
Sept 5 - have a calm August up ahead - sm
the last 2 months have been nuts with Dr. appts (eye, dentist, oncologist, regular checkups); only have 2 scheduled this month, yeah, and only 1 weekend trip. Try to do some local stuff in the remaining month we have though if we don't fry first. Hit 100 today here in VA (NE of Richmond); it's 99 now and 5:30 p.m. NUTS!!!
Since you are new, just wait. Newbies have to wait. sm
Just because you said a "doctor's office" that narrows it down. No national work for private doctor's offices. It is all acute care. Just wait. They will let you know how you are doing.
40 degrees in August? Where do you live? Even Alaska is warm now.

Here in Cherokee County Alabama August 8 is first student day.
My DH works at the local school and he has been getting ready.
It slows down every August and January on both ER accounts that I have. This time sm
of year is the worst. I forget about it every year until it happens again. It usually picks up again at the end of August and then is really busy until the end of the year. It slows down a bit (not much) in the beginning of January and then is really, really busy until mid to late July into August.
I have been doing this for 13 years and the only year ever that it did not happen to me was last summer. Not sure why, but both hospitals stayed busy the entire 2006.
Bigger isn't always better!
I know that one small private online service does nothing but the Mayo Clinic. It's a very nice little company who does quality work.

Oh, boy, yep, you got bigger problems than me...

Bigger puzzles?
Have you seen the books with the huge grafts? I have not tried these yet.
I see a bigger picture there than you do - sm
I see the state of US healthcare as a whole, which is going steadily downhill. It's a complicated mess and will take a lot of scrutinizing and picking apart to have any hope of cleaning up some of its dirtier secrets. Taking surveys in various sectors of that industry (especially in MT, a sector that for the most part is totally swept under the rug and ignored) is at least a step in the right direction. Not being interested in taking a survey is a personal decision, and if you feel threatened by it, then by all means steer clear if it makes you feel better. But your all-out attack on the idea, which seems to center around a PayPal button, seems skewed somehow, and makes me think you are MORE threatened by the thought that our profession's dirty laundry just might get aired.
I filed for an extension and paid nothing until August 15th. No penalty for that, just interest. nm

That's nice, but they have a bigger problem SM
with the fact that their own employees take the information home on laptops....per the letter I received last week from the VA notifying me that my information had been stolen from someone's car...
Bigger concern is your husband!!
Aside from the fact that your husband's friend is a jerk, what is your husband saying about the fact that he will not give you this female's phone # so you can call her back and let her hear a piece of reality here!! It's as if your hubby is saying this is a game here and it's "okay". Does the fact that this lady called him give him some kind of a charge, a little excitement for him? I would question his ethics first, after all, if he's willing to keep this number from you, what else would he think is none of your business? Sorry, but that's the bigger problem.

smoking.... the more I smoke. That happens to be true of lots of smokers. So, don't bug her about it. She's more likely to do it on her own if you drop it.
Women now are into the bigger crimes
so a woman does not gain entrance into my house. Your daughters are really old enough to know better. I had 2 women come here 1 day, raining outside and they were shivering and wanted entrance and I said NO. I know anyone can get in if they want but no sense in making it easier for them. I saw a police chase yesterday (thought coming from Calif as ones that happen here usually when it is over) but live and the people got out and ran- husband is saying is that not a female? It was and she along with a male trying to escape. I had someone in uniform (who most people trust) show up 1 day asking to use my phone- no way Jose, told them give me a # and I will call for you. I am very, very aware of all around me and no one enters my house through the garage or front door (while I am home, of course) without my letting them in. Rural versus city no different. Crime happens everywhere.
LOL! I've already had to buy a bigger monitor
my problem is that my keyboard shelf only allows space for the keyboard and I love this desk - is a corner desk - now with more constant use of mouse my shoulder aches because it is higher- I have to figure out how to make space for the mouse - any suggestions? Need a man to jigsaw me an extension, I guess.
