We have black widows galore here in Calif. I actually keep frogs in my yard (provide ponds for them) and they have made a big impact on the insect population.
Remember to always wear shoes (something I try to do).

Think about it. The possibilities are endless when you learn to be "without hands" doing this job.
If it is lunchtime, cutting a sandwich into 6 individual pieces and stabbing each piece with a toothpick works very well as you only have to do one bite at a time and your keyboard doesn't get nasty from touching the bread.
For dessert, don't buy Reeses peanut butter cups. The "Popable" Reeses fit nicely into a small cup that you can toss a mouthful from whenever the urge hits you.
I don't recommend anything that you actually have to pick up with your fingers, i.e., Cheese Doodles, Doritos, salt and vinegar chips, etc., as the keyboard gets really icky and you lose time that way or you have to wipe the residue on your pants or a leftover coffee filter.
I've also found that a straw works well with coffee once it has cooled down to tepid, as it usually does before you expect it.

put my keyboard and foot pedal in my rolling luggage. it has worked fine so far. I will say that the next upgrade for me will be a much lighter weight smaller laptop.

Was MT even something I should get into? Sounds like more bang than I want to get tied up in so I appreciate your reply! Thanks!!

Why didnt your ancestors stay wherever they came from? What a horrible statement. We are all descendant from another country, unless we are American Indian. I know two doctors who live here and do help in their home countries. One from South Africa, the other from Mexico. One goes back each year to hold clinics where they operate on children.

Pressure was put on Nixon from the courageous and so right protestors to end our participation in a wrong war a war we were in because we didnt want the South Vietnamese to become communist, which happened anyway. The protests at Kent State were peaceful except some students started throwing rocks at inexperienced guardsmen. The guardsmen were called before the protest to keep calm on campus, which is something that should never be done and was never done before. You do not turn military against student protestors. You do not use military to guard Americans, that is what police are for. Only during Martial Law can you have military take over American streets. We have a right to protest. When the students saw the guardsmen, some threw rocks. The guardsmen then shot their guns. Trust me, this is how it went. It is burned into my psyche.

Didn't have to do much of that (didnt really mind that
part of the job, though). Just didn't like working 11-7, hated the fact that with being responsible for so many patients, I felt like I wasn't giving any of them very good care.

I wouldnt let it get me down. I dont feel like you should go back to school. It takes time to do the more difficult doctors. Unless you did not go to school and do good. Only you know how well you learned and whether or not you feel comfortable with doing transcription.

it is bigger equipment and expensive. AND they never worked so I did not owe them any money. Some were so "anxious" to work that I spent a small fortune sending it overnight so they could "get started" because they really needed to work. I want to believe in the best of people, but it is getting harder and harder.

I tried Slycount and it didn't count the text in headers and footers after the 1st page. Apparently its a problem with upgraded versions of MS word 2003 and there isn't a fix yet for this problem. If you don't use headers and footers than its a good program. I currently use Spellex AccuCount and its great :). I believe they have a free trial on there website. I Hope this helps :)

LOL, a creature of the underworld? I sure hope you are kidding. A black widow, as all spiders, are very much needed. They eat other bugs. Most spiders are harmless and black widows do not stray from their web very far. You can put a black widow in your hand and it will not bite you unless you pushed its head down on your hand.

Black is stylish and I love it. I would suggest not wearing black stockings, etc. Do you have any bright colors you could add such as a cloth rose (very stylish)or some bright jewelry to offset the black. Try a thrift store for a bright bag or shoes. I just did that and found a pretty pink bag with black trim for a couple of dollars. That should offset the black. Just try not to go "totally black" but if you have to, so be it. Just wear a "smile" and have a great time! Life is temporary, enjoy it.

Don't worry about it. My sister wore black for 15 years when she was teenager and throughout her 20s; one of my nieces starting wearing black when she was in junior high. The niece is an RN and neither of them has ever done anything weird or satanic in their lives.
Some people love black - personally, I avoid it like the plaque, don't even buy black shoes or purses.
