I see so many people that use Escription and like it. Are there other Escription platforms, or are they all EditScript?

Is EditScript and Escription the same platform? sm
I am only familiar with Dictaphone EXText, EXSpeech, and now EXEditor, but have heard that escription is even better than these platforms. I want to get my fact straight (the difference, if any, between EditScript and Escription) before applying for companies using those platforms. TIA!
Editscript-Escription - Jay, sm
Jay, do I still use a foot pedal with this software? What is the difference between editscript and escription? Sorry for the questions, but I have never used this platform before...Thanks!
Lucy
eScription/EditScript
eScription is the name of the company. They make a dictation system which takes the doctors' dictation files and runs them through a voice recognition engine once they reach a certain level of accuracy. At any given time, there will be some dictations that have to be transcribed from scratch and others that need to be edited.
EditScript is the name of the TRANSCRIPTION component of the eScription system, the part that you as an MT would use. It does use a foot pedal, yes. It integrates with your MS Word program so you can still use your AutoCorrects, macros and expanders.

EditScript & eScription
eScription is the company with EditScript. They do not take over departments. The hospital will contract with them to use their software and servers, etc. EditScript is voice recognition software. They do not take over departments.
However, there are some transcription companies who are certified ES users and will try to bid for the department or hospital's work.
Please know that not every hospital or department who uses the EditScript platform outsources their transcription work to companies or anyone else for that matter. Recently, many have been keeping their transcription in-house and training their MTs on the new software.
I hope this answers your questions.
EMR is an electronic medical record. Most companies are trying to sell their software to the healthcare industry as EMR. Paperless records so you could be visitng in Alaska, have an accidnet, and the doc could pull your chart up from the hospital in your home town, like New Jersey, etc. instantly.
Hope this information helps.
eScription/EditScript
My favorite platform.
eScription EditScript
Does anyone know what the standarized definition of a line is when using the eScription platform (EditScript)? I understand bolding and underlining are not permitted, so that has been eliminated from the line count. How about two spaces after a sentence? Has that been eliminated from the line count also? How difficult is it to confirm your line count that the software is gathering for you? If you partially edit and partially transcribe a report, does it separate the two functions and provide individual counts? Thanks!
Another eScription EditScript
If you had to transcribe a report on the eScription platform instead of edit, would you be able to use the AutoCorrect feature in your Word program, or another Expander program, or are you using the Word on the eScription server and would an expander program be available?
editscript/escription
Anybody ever having trouble downloading EditScript on initial setup? I get so far and the templates will load but the next part that lists the providers won't and I get kicked off my provider (VZ wireless air card). I have been told that they do use this for the laptops, so that shouldn't be an issue. Just didn't know if anyone had any possible suggestions. TIA!
Editscript/Escription ???
I have used Escription when I worked for TransTech. Now I have been offered a position with a company that uses Dictaphone VR. I thought Escription was a Dictaphone product. Does Dictaphone have more than 1 platform for VR?

Am I the only person who has a squatty hourly average line count with this system? I would love to hear from those who don't mind sharing how many lines you average an hour.
For those of you who are thinking about posting a response that says 'I don't give out this info'...save it please.
My question is for people who ARE willing to share this info.
Thanks.
Editscript/Escription users
I'm worse off than you. What does Editscript/Escription stand for?
What is eScription Editscript? Is that strictly
has an ad for MTs that says nothing about editing positions. I am confused for sure. I transcribe. Don't want to do editing for a company. Don't want to apply for a job when I do not know what I applying for. TIA!
Can Smarttype be used with Editscript/eScription?
Absolutely - love it. Use eScription's EditScript.
Great pay, awesome platform, and wonderful account.
Like everything else in life, you take the good with the bad. Get bored sometimes, but I make a great line rate and work for a great hospital. I will take the boredom - really can't complain.
From what I have heard, you either love VR or hate it. Personally, I love it, but I think it really does depend on the VR platform. eScription is the best VR platform out there in my humble opinion. I have worked on several and some were just downright terrible.
eScription only makes EditScript/EMON
Why couldn't you use EditScript?
eScription is actually the company that makes EditScript.
:-) Welcome to the boards too.
eScription - EditScript - question missed from below.
If you insert a list of recipients into the report from the hospital directory base, does the MT receive any credit for this in the line count?
Also, are any of the demographics included in the MT's line count?
Thanks for your reply.
EditScript/Escription - Fell in love with it the first time I used it

Lucy, we use the EditScript MT platform, which is what you're referring to, I believe...sm
All in all I think it's pretty user friendly. It has the audio player built into it and it also handles all the downloading and uploading of the voice files and completed reports. It also has a search function that allows you to search old reports, which is really nice. The downside is that it only works with Word 2000 or 2003, not 2002, and it's a little sensitive to interference on your Internet connection. Also, although they say it will work with dial-up Internet, we have never been able to use it successfully with dial-up.
Jay
I only work on EditScript accounts...
and they lost theirs.
Escription platform - sm
Does anyone know what this platform is like. Is it MT friendly??
Thanks
Sorry, but do you like eScription platform?
Question about eScription platform
There are a lot of posts on the job seeker's board looking for eScription MTs and editors. eScription claims they don't offer their platform to MT companies, so how are these companies using this system? Seems strange.
eScription is a great platform
Easy and picks up the doctors like you would not believe- even ESLs good on this platform. I am so glad don’t have the other ASR that is talked about all the time.
What platform? eScription Edit Script?
The platform is escription....and sorry about the typos in my previous post...
MTSO with escription accounts.
http://www.escription.com/services_mtso.htm
Focus Infomatics hires transcriptionists with NO experience on the Escription platform? Anyone else
/
Can someone tell me if most of Spheris's accounts have a lot of ESLs and is their platform still
difficult to use as it used to be. I have heard their platform has a lot of steps to it.
IC versus employee, accounts, transcription type, platform,
nm
I work on Escription platform and the adapter didnt work for me. I tried it on my laptop though
and the foot pedal would just not play correctly with the adapter. I think others have tried it and done it but it just didnt work for me.
MTSO with platform versus no platform (big message)
If a MTSO advertises that the MT works in MS Word and sends dictation by FTP, does this usually mean there will be no demographic/doctor database and the demographics will not be autopopulated?
I got into a mess with a small company (got out real quickly too). I was required to print out daily email copies of the doctors' office patient schedules (which were barely legible) and type in all information. I spent more time hunting for the correct patient through pages and pages of these schedules. Then I had about 25 pages worth of doctor's names that I would have to go through to find the attending, referring, etc. A total waste of time as I didn’t get paid for that.
I wish MTSO would give more information as to what platform they use (if any). Proprietary software is such a generic, totally useless description. Would they buy a new car that listed, "Car has gasoline operated motor?"
And for Pete's sakes, why so secretive about the pay? Give a ballpark figure. Just say, pay is between 7-12 cpl depending on skill, testing, etc. Tell me if you pay for spaces, headers, etc. It would save them time because I wouldn’t even apply for a 7 cpl job.
Before I spend an hour or two testing, I need more information from a company to be sure it is compatible for my needs. If the MTSO would spend a little time on their website detailing their platform, how they send/receive files, pay rates, how line rate is determined (spaces/no spaces) employee/IC/SE status, minimal line count, whether work pools consist of 100s of doctors, or smaller pools with 25-50 doctors etc. Having all this information on their website would save them time and the MTs time. Phoenix Medcom has a really good layout describing pretty much everything an MT would want to know before testing with them. I am just tired of testing with a company and then finding out the job wasn’t exactly suited to my needs.
Platform versus non-platform (templates)?
I've been working for MTSOs for years now, using their templates which sometimes cause productivity problems (macro issues, etc). I'm wondering if productivity is increased when working on a structured platform, such as one that a national company provides for its transcriptionists? I've never used a platform, but it would seem that all one needs to do is straight type onto the screen and the platform program takes care of margins, page breaks, etc?
Any thoughts (as well as companies who are hiring who use platforms) would be appreciated. Thanks
How about zillions of accounts. MQ has these accounts so overloaded even the new hires dont have any
work. I would love to read some of these reports and then they expect perfect QA and no blanks. Did they lose their minds completely.
The accounts are old and she keeps her accounts TRUSTING she hired the right MTs
who if in doubt will ask questions regarding reports. No one can find all mistakes in all reports and that is human to have a report with perhaps a typo. You think anyone reads through all the reports of a national company before they get to the hospital? Not a chance. Some random QA is supposed to correct all mistakes? Not hardly. Doctors/dictators make mistakes too. We all do. So do QA people. So the thing is this person hires good people who are trustworthy, the hospital likes the way she does their account and life goes on quite nicely w/o hovering editors/QA people. BTW, who QAs the QA people on your accounts. Ever wonder?
Not all accounts are good accounts. One
That should not be the case. Sounds like you need new accountant with strong knowledge of IC deduction. We save a several thousand on what we pay in taxes based on what I can deduct as at home IC, $2000 off the top for what I pay my child to help with office chores, as an example. The measly 7.xx% I pay that an employer would pay is well worth my independence in being my own boss.
EditScript help
I am about to start working for a company that uses EditScript. I need to know if a USB foot pedal will work with it. When I looked at the foot pedal they said I have to have, I have the same exact one except it is USB. Does anybody know if this will work? I really don't have the money to spend on a new foot pedal, and I use a laptop for work that doesn't even have a 9-pin serial port.
Thank you in advance!
Editscript
Is anyone using this program. I just started it and it seems to be good - the first voice recognition that I have used to date - just wondered what others thought since this seems to be the way of the future in MT.
editscript
I think it is slow but that is only my opinion.
When you are in editscript...
Click on the eyeball on the toolbar and select the pedal tab. You can adjust the bounceback time from there.
EditScript...does KS use this? sm
It seems to me that is where I have seen it used, by KS. If so, then...ST works with it more or less. Not as well as it works with ExText or MedRiteXL, but it will run.
If you are not working for KS, then I don't happen to know one way or the other. Works a treat in ExText.
Editscript
Has anyone had trouble downloading Editscript because of MS Works being on their PC? I'm getting an error msg and I don't know how to get around this...Thanks
EditScript
Does anyone know if you can use a game-port pedal on EditScript or if you have to have a serial pedal?
EditScript
Does anyone use dialup? I am in a rural area and cannot get dialup at present. I have been trying to download EditScript and I am having mega problems. Anyone else in the same boat?
editscript
Editscript is I guess you would call it like a platform. Voice recognition editing is when the report comes up and you go through and listen to the doctor to catch any mistakes that are in there.
Editscript V8
With the account that I work on, they did something to the program to make it so that we could not copy and paste within a document. Maybe this happened to your account. The only copy and pasting that can be done, I have found, is after the job has been uploaded. Then, I can search by dictation ID in the database. Once in view function, I am able to copy and paste using the same Ctrl functions as in Word.
I don't use Editscript myself...sm
I can totally see where you wouldn't be able to afford to upgrade though. I have Windows XP but I need to upgrade to a newer Word. I am using 2002 Word. I am starting to have issues with Spantel using this version. I can do the work but I am having little issues. I can't afford to buy an upgrade though. I don't know, maybe I can get a used copy of Microsoft Office. It doesn't have to be 07 just a newer version than I have. I will have to check on it. You are not alone in not being able to afford upgrades though.
EditScript
The line count SUCKS big time on this.....When I worked on it, did a compare in regular word, I got WAY MORE than what Editscript gave me. It is not Editscript, the company can configure it to NOT count headers, demo info, etc. The company is the one doing it!!! Any way to cheat us MTs out of anything, that is what they do...When I see ads for jobs stating they use Emdat or Escription. I just pass right on over it.
EditScript
I have used EditScript now for 3 years and have noticed the same thing. The software is missing simple words and a lot of reports are just a mess. I agree with a previous post that part of it has to do with the skill level of the MTs working on the account. I work for a company that likes to hire new grads, so I think that might explain some of the formatting issues and incorrect phrases I encounter daily. It is very frustrating.
AVG and EditScript
I am using EditScript MT version 8 and have the paid version of AVG in my computer. Works just fine.
EditScript
I am working with Version 8 and still have Version 6 on my computer. I just downloaded 8 when they sent me the instructions and left 6 there just in case. There have been a lot of problems so far with 8, but I imagine eventually it will all be worked out. Then maybe I will get rid of 6. It's kinda like when you hold onto something in your house forever; the minute you junk it, you will need it. I guess that is why I haven't gotten rid of it.
