Anyone had a positive result of posting a resume through this site?sm

Once again, I am on the lookout for another service because work load is starting to slow down.  Quite frankly, I'm a bit scared!  We had no work for many days starting about this time last year, and it looks as if that cycle is starting again.  I was just wondering if anyone would suggest I post my resume here.

Putting a positive spin on MT resume
Updating my resume and wondering if there is suggested format when one is an MT? Not a lot of job hopping per se but multiple jobs at once (for enough lines). When I list them all its hard not to make it look bad with so many company names.
Thanks for your advice.
Resume posting
I recently tried to post my resume to the resume bank, and it will not show up.  Do they update that monthly or something?  There are no resumes on there for the month of August.  THanks.
posting my resume
I would like to know if anyone can please help me post my resume, as I have tried many times to no avail.
resume posting here (sm)
Just wondering - Has anyone found a job as a result of posting their resume here?

I've tried resume posting before in other places and ended up either getting nothing or at best, responses that had nothing to do with the type of job I was seeking, so I was curious to find out if employers actually look at resumes posted here before posting "open call" job listings.
I Got an Awesome Job From Posting my Resume

They called and told me they saw my resume on MT Stars.  I tested, received great feedback and was offered a job .

It is kind of slow this time of year.  Good luck with whatever you choose!

I would recommend posting your resume here and on other
transcription job boards.  They are all free.  You might get an offer to do clinic work or other transcription.  Undoubtedly the rate will be low, probably 6 cpl at best.  Some companies having mentoring programs and they may be willing to give you a chance.  I would try that route first and see what response you get and then maybe consider a course.   Check out the new MT/Student board here before signing up for any courses, if you haven't already.
I found a GREAT job by posting my resume here. :-)
I didn't have much faith in the process since I have heard that hundreds of people respond to each ad posted, but decided to give it a try anyway ... and I'm glad I did.  I was contacted by a small company with a great owner who pays well and treats me with courtesy and respect.  Thanks MT Stars!
Moderator, how do I view my resume I place on your job site. I dont see any new resumes posted when

I look on there and I did mine yesterday. Where can I see it. I did not come up with the list of resumes that seems to end in August.

thanks for posting...what a great site, too. (nm)

Thanks for posting that site and info. nm

It's not like he's posting porn site pictures.
Admin will get around to deleting him again.  However, it sounds like Sam is not being consistent with his IP address, which makes it tough to ban someone.  Besides, we could be with he and hab job and coffee.
This site prohibits offshore MTs from posting. The OP is in the US>

Thanks for posting that site! I think I could use this! My ankles/feet
are killing me. I wasn't aware that this existed at all. It would be great if anyone who has actually used this could post her opinion on it.

I also wonder if it would work with a split/tented keyboard? Could you put it vertically?

Thanks again, I'm gonna check it out!
isn't it the posting by the visitors here that determine the web site's profit?
just a curious question.
You realize you are posting this on the main board, right? Not everyone at this site works for MQ.

Oops! the are positive, not and positive.

I did exactly what you did and had the same sorry result

I came down with repetitive stress injury after typing for hours each day for years. Now after an hour of typing my fingers are sore and stiff. I went to DNS for the same reason, did the Know-brainer, got the excellent mike and trained the a** of the thing - after months, I still could not get any production out of it. I can type circles around the thing-- except I can't type! Furthermore, the thing is so touchy, requires frequent re-boots to get quality production, and I would have to redo my dictationary every three months because of a **known** glitch in the system. Then the thing has to hear the whole sentence and think to make sure it gets context right-- you are dictating the next sentence while it is posting the previous sentence and you're trying to do both at the same time. hated it.

VR done by other companies uses the Dragon platform but then changes the software so that edits are easy - not the bulky, slow, fingers off the keys editing that DNS has. Our hospital had the radiologists go to Dictaphone's Powerscribe and in 30 days they were doing all their own dictation without ANY editing by MTs. So depends on the platform. VR definitely works.

what is the result if you make the same
checking on a free AV?
As long as your end result is verbatim, it should be up to you how you get there! nm

Actually, the testing is a direct result of...SM
all of the schools and training programs out there that don't begin to teach a person what they need to know to be able to do this work. People come out of the training programs and think they are ready to go to work, but in reality they haven't got a clue. The only way to weed through these people is to require testing to be sure the person being hired can actually do the work. That's the long and the sort of it, in my opinion.
I agree I learned more as a result of the
I never worked on production back in the olden days, though. I was always paid hourly at my in-house positions. I never received production pay until I went home to work. It's a whole new mindset, and I believe wholeheartedly in using whatever tools are at my disposal to increase productivity. However, I'm very glad to have learned the old-fashioned way, too.
And the result is like a Catch-22. Clients/MTSOs

so they turn to alternatives like offshore or VR.  But they don't look far enough to see that the root cause of not enough experienced MTs is because the experienced don't want to stay in a sinking ship.  I think they feel that using the excuse that lack of experienced MTs validates them turning to cheaper alternatives, which in turn, makes the ship sink even further.

Think it's a result of that darn "vote-for-the-worst" sm
group that is skewing all the results. Wish that site could be abolished.
Sage advice. Consequences would result in being out of the loop
But I can live with that.
The result of MTs' efforts to make a living wage are (sm)
And of COURSE we don't want less - we DO want more. That goes without saying. But you see - the type of verbal attack that you and other "Debbie Downers" like you launch every time an MT says, "Wait a minute... maybe there IS something we can do is so typical of the type of thinking that holds not just MTs, but women in general back. I have already checked and made sure my doc's MTSO doesn't offshore. If that changes, my ins. (which is just your average, run-of-the-mill HMO) STILL allows me to go to other providers. If you "don't have many options", have you ever wondered WHY? Could it be that you keep SETTLING for less and less? And could it be that other MTs, when they read the gloom and doom in your post, will think THEY have to settle, too?

As for pulling other endeavors out of other nations, hey - there are quite a few that I think others would LOVE to see pulled out. Such as tech help for just about everything from your PC to your cellphone being sent to places where they can't understand what you're trying to tell them, and vice versa. I have a friend with a Masters degree in software engineering who is working menial jobs right now in order to pay the rent, while he looks for a job in his field that is a full-time, benefitted position, rather than as a part-time IC with no benefits. He says even the part-time jobs are getting hard to find because so many employers are sending EVERYTHING out, including part time.

The old, "Go ahead and try! Why don't you quit MT? Oh, boy - more work for ME!" song and dance may fly for a while, but why sit back and seemingly enjoy watching your profession go extinct, when eventually it WILL affect you, too? Do you really want to sit there all day as an "editor" and stare at work typed by other entities? How boring is that? Where is any ounce of creatitivity? At least when you transcribe, you are producing something of value, and can take pride in it. And at a lousy 3-to-6 cents a line, where is the pride in speech-rec or editing work?

This board's image problem is the result of complaining MTs.

--should become the new logo.

Once had an ESL cardiologist who dictated every lab result done during hospital stay
and even the normal ranges for each test!!! 45 minutes long and of course it was a PRIORITY/STAT.. yeah right
If you google the phrase "Letterman sign" it is the fifth result listed ... sm
It seems to be the same thing as the Terry-Thomas sign. It was new to me, too.
Offshoring to India is the direct result of declining quality

being produced by American MTs.  The declining quality being produced is the direct result of inexperienced, under-educated MTs being churned out by these online MT schools.

Not to flame but every day there's posting after posting about how awful MQ is

Why does anyone still work there?

I don't get it.

How common are server issues and other technical problems that result in downtime? (sm)
Do you get compensated for your downtime?  I'm thinking of going to work for a national, but I've heard there are a lot of technical issues at these bigger companies.  True?
If Joint Commission audits and finds "patient care" errors it can result in very...
...serious fines and repercussions.
Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.

It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.

We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.

It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!
how is this positive?
Is that if we're offered up sh@t, we're supposed to eat it, because it could be worse?  Nice attitude.
well, I'm not positive but...sm
I don't think you can use any other Expander with DQS.  An expander does what DQS does...when you type tp and DQS gives you the patient (if that's one you use)...I used Smart Type b4 (which is still my short cut for before!!) and LOVED it.  It took me a long time to get production back up with DQS...but I was never as fast as you--2000 lines! wow
You positive that's what it was? sm
If you're sure it was a panic attack, then I wouldn't go to the doctor. But if not absolutely sure, it could be something serious.

Extra stressors? How old are you (if you don't mind my asking!). Typical age is 30s. Lots of info easily found online.

As others said, the bag works for hyperventilating. Re-breathe the air from the bag.

Hope you feel better. No insurance sucks. I'm right there with you.
It was positive! sm
Congratulations! You will be in my prayers!
Think positive (sm)
When you say about going to counseling and state "but I feel it is not going to help" is not starting off in a good direction. Go to counseling with an open heart. Tell youself that it WILL work. Tell yourself that the counselor is going to help both of you see new ways to handle life.

Not knowing your husband's mental health issue, it's hard to put a finger on that. I'm saying it sounds like he's depressed? If he's not working due to this mental health issue, that's probably a nice slap on the ego as well.

With regard to getting help, ask him to come help you do whatever. I used to do the same thing, do everything while DH sat on his behind. We went for counseling and I let it be known at that point that I wanted a partner, not another kid. I wanted a partner in all aspects of our marriage; 50/50 marital, 50/50 in parenting, 50/50 in house keeping. We then went from there and figured out how to help this out. I told the counselor I felt like I was expected to do everything. He was kind of surprised to hear me say that. After that, we all started doing our own laundry, even him!!! He does his own work clothes too.

I'm going to bet that if your husband can feel like he's contributing more, maybe he'll feel better and start taking better care of himself. I know back in the day when I was depressed and feeling the world upon my shoulders, looking nice was the last thing on my mind.
Something positive

Yesterday I went to my daughter's school to have lunch.  This was the first time the school did this so it was very disorganized and the schedule was running an hour behind.  There were all of these moms fretting because they had to get back to work, and some even had to leave before they were able to participate.  Seeing this made me very happy to be an MT (IC) because I didn't have to worry about getting back to work right away and got to enjoy the time without the anxiety of what kind of trouble I would be in with the boss.

I know we all have complaints and things that are not fair in this profession, but that is one huge benefit that I am more than happy to take.

Try to be positive sm
You have a great educational background. I met people along the way who could not spell diarrhea correctly. You may be able to help a large dental facility such as Tufts-NE in Boston or a service a large facility contracts their work to. You could start slow, gain confidence. You will definitely not make money at first, but if you want to stay home with your child, think of the costs you will eliminate and the pleasure you will gain by just being home. Don't be discouraged. Where there is a will, there is a way. Perhaps someone will direct you to some SUM program tapes, etc. and you could slowly build up your word book dictionaries by buying used. I started out buying books from the Salvation Army as I live near a large prestigious university. People tried to discourage me as well, but I learned fast and furious as I had a good education and a good head on my shoulders. Don't give up! Good luck!
You actually get POSITIVE feedback
nm
Positive things!

Okay, I'm with ya here.  I really need to start focusing on the positives in my life instead of the negatives.  This is a fantastic way for me to start.

Let's see now.  I'm a recently divorced (YIPPEE - put that off for ten years!!) mother of 2.  Although it can be isolating working at home sometimes, I wouldn't trade it for anything!!  I make twice (sometimes three times) as much as I would per hour in a hospital.  I don't have to pay for day care - EVER.

Oh, and since I make so much, I was able to keep the house (my ex couldn't ever afford it).  I'm proud to say I have not had to borrow ONE PENNY from anyone through my divorce, I did it all on my own!

I can always be worse, I'm trying to be positive
You could be one of those in New Orleans, then would the pay cut mean anything to you? You would be happy to be alive. Why is it that only what affects us personally matters? This is what is wrong with society. My husband took a 25% pay cut a year ago, now the company he works for is bankrupt, slated to shut down in 9 days. He has worked there for 35 years. Be thankful you have a job, or get a new one.
A positive pause...please sm

Just wanted to share a link with anyone who could use a little positivity today...it's truly worth it

Peace...out.

need positive thoughts
whether you have insurance or not, if you continue to experience chest pain, go to the nearest ER. I am a 42 year old who had to have a stent due to a 95% blockage. It is better to be alive than worried you will look silly.
Thank you for the positive thoughts.
I do have a little small something that might eventually need surgery, but it's not cancer. This doctor was very nice and didn't treat me like I was a hypochondriac.
I'm positive - maybe if I "google" it (sm)

Duh. I figured it out, it's positive. nm

The responses I get and usually positive.
The most common is, "Oh, I know someone who does that. She makes a lot of money!"
Positive experience here...
We filed Chapter 7 a couple of years ago (before new laws).  Best thing that ever happened.  Since then we have paid off our house, saved money and are driving older paid-for cars.  We only pay cash.  If we don't have enough, we save it.  It actually turned into a blessing for us.  I think credit is absolutely ruining so many people's lives.  Better to do without for now and save!  Then if you save, you can pay for emergencies.  Good luck in whatever you decide!!
