Anyone do Winsor Pilates?

Ok people, I need some serious motivation here. Went to try on swim suits yesterday and thoroughly disgusted! With the combination of menopause (won't even get into that whole #&@ ball of wax) and MT'ing the last 5 years, my body has just gone to pot. I have a few DVDs that I try to do once in awhile like the Buns series, etc. and have an older Denise Austin Pilates tape, but I had read somewhere that the Winsor Pilates was more effective because of her technique or sequence or something. Do you think it's worth the investment? I'm just so discouraged, it just makes me want to go get a big bowl of ice cream or chocolate or something. I'm not really fat, just flabby, have lost my muscle tone or something. I had lost a lot of weight due to a series of very stressful events in the past, some of which are ongoing, but have gained it back and just seems to be flab now with no muscle. I just want to tone up and wondered if anyone liked the Winsor series and saw benefits with regular use. Thanks for any help and encouragement!!

i like the winsor series but i haven't
used any other series so i can't compare them. my toddler will do them with me so that makes it fun but also a little more of a challange. try renting some different tapes from the video store before you buy anything. i bought the whole series in a set when it was on sale at target and haven't opened one of the 3 tapes. when i was faithful to doing it, i did notice a difference. but just like every other exercise, i don't keep up on it. i have my trusty ab roller here next to my desk and when i need a few minutes to regroup i'll do crunches until it hurts to much and go back to typing. it's hard to stay motivated when i'm always so tired...
Pilates?
I hate to exercise and I have respiratory problems too. I needed something that was not strenuous and effective and tried Winsor Pilates and amazingly saw results right away. I now use a walking program by Leslie Sansone for cardio also. But with Winsor alone I lost quite a few inches and that was just with the beginner 20 minute workout DVD. I never even used the accellerated workout that came with the package! I am glad you recovered. I knew a couple with a black mold problem and they became very very ill with all kinds of health issues and even neurological problems. It's very scary. Take care.
pilates
I absolutely love pilates. It is very difficult. I have no idea about the different types but at the gym i go to there are several instructors so each class is different. all exercises concentrate on the core and for women what else is there. Strengthening abd., gluteals, back and legs. I hate the treadmill and needed to find a cardio workout and have just started a spin class. Now thats a workout. 475 calories burned in 45 minutes but of course i can't do 45 just up to 30 but what a workout. I would have to walk for 2+ hours on a treadmill to get that much of a workout. Anyhow there is not a lot of stress on your knees as all exercises are on the floor with a mat. Can be hard on your hips when lying on each side for those leg exercises. It is a wonderful workout. Been doing pilates now for 3 years and still love it!

RE: Anyone ever tried Zone Pilates? (nm)
I just started doing some of the pilates
in between workouts on Bowflex to get blood moving. Change your exercise routine instead of doing same things consistently as your body may become used to it and plateau sets in. Work your whole body. Also, give your self short breaks, a couple days between exercises. Your workouts become easier over time. Don't give up, most people quit before big changes happen. This has worked for me.
I do a 20 minute pilates work out every day and within
7 to 10 days I saw changes that I was absolutely thrilled with. Hope this helps. You will see results within a week or two. Good luck!!!! You can do it!
Question for any Pilates users
If I understand it right, there are different styles or versions of Pilates. Which one is the best? Does Pilates use a lot of "wild" music or is it more instruction based? Would Pilates be good for someone who is not able to walk much on the treadmill because of knee issues? I have heard that people have good results with this program. I'm looking to start a new diet here and looking for an alternative exercise program other than walking. But - I don't like loud, wild music so many exercise dvd's are out for me.
Anyone here do Windsor Pilates? Are you getting results? Is it a good

Are you Pilates people overweight by any chance? SM
I'd like to try it but honestly I'm afraid to as I need to lose, well, I guess really about 75 lbs. I have a lot of back pain, and I hear these stretches will help with that. But I'm afraid it will be SO hard and that I'll hurt myself. What do you think?
I believe Pilates is good for shaping and strength, but you still need some cardio for good fat
