Any body has heard about counting lines a 60 bytes?

I thought line counts was characters or keystrokes. I have been approached by a MT company who say they charge as "bytes". Does anyone know how we count using bytes?

If you are typing in Word use the Count feature. It shows char w/sp, char w/o sp, lines, blank lines. AND to clarify something - a lot of rad companies are NOT now paying per line but rather paying PER REPORT and cheap, awful rates. I just got a new Rad MT job but the majority of them out there want to pay crap per report rates. I won't take those - I am NOT typing a 40/50-line CT for $1.05-1.25. I have a per line rate on this new job and their avg report is 30-40 lines. My other 2 a/c's (one 30 MDs, other over 100) avgd about $1.90+ a report when you divided lines by # of reports.

You need to ask how they will be counting lines first. sm
You need to know their method of counting because all programs count differently. Practicount is a good program because it gives you many more options for counting lines or characters than most of the others. You can also set up different options for different clients.

There is a big difference between 10 cpl gross lines and 10 cpl on a 65-char with spaces, without spaces, 75-char, 80-char, etc. I'm fortunate in that I am still paid by gross lines. How are most of your lines being counted?

If you want to get your line count of a document just go to style and choose numbering. It will put a number in front of each line. Go to the end and see the last number and that is your number of lines! Simple as that. You can do this in the document or you can copy and paste into a new document and do it there. This is as simple as pie.
counting lines by hand - pls help!
I type letters all day and need to count actual lines. MS word does not count accurately. I need just the lines typed (for ex. salutation is 1 line, signature line is 1 line, etc.) I have been doing this manually, but is a waste of time, as sometimes they are 3-page letters. I downloaded Flashcount and was hoping that I could use it right in MS Word to count the actual lines of each letter that I type without having to go to another screen, but have not been able to do that. Anyone know if this is possible or of a good program out there where this is possible??? I am not so concerned about making an invoice, just counting each line typed (no matter how many characters on that line) accurately. Thanks.
Counting lines in Word
This actually gives you way more lines than if you calculated by 65 cpl. I worked for a company for a while that did this and on one short progress note I made over $3 more than by figuring the 65 cpl way. Let's say they are paying you 7 cents a line......this is like 11 cents a line counting the regular way. This is definitely in your favor...I have done the math on this one many times. Good luck!
Softscript not counting lines correctly
Anyone else having this problem. Trying to get an answer as to why LINES are NOT being counted correctly and not one answer. The fact that our lines do not show up immediately anymore should have been our first warning. How can they GET AWAY WITH THIS. It there anyway a company can PROVE how they are counting lines. This is totally unfair and they are ripping off their MTs while fat cats sit there and get richer.

My line including spaces is 65 characters. I've heard that not counting spaces
takes away over 35% of your line count. I believe it too because you have at least 15 or so spaces on each line that you type. Use your first sentence up top as an example; you had 77 char and 21 spaces - in that line that would be a little less than 30% of your characters that you didn't get paid for. I don't think it's worth it and wouldn't want to work without getting credit for my spaces.

Right now I counsel pregnant teens as I had 2 myself and regret that decision every single day of my life. I've learned over the years that God has forgiven me and that my 2 babies are waiting for me, but the guilt and shame that this decision ultimately brings isn't worth it. Besides, that baby sooo deserves a chance at life, love, and laughter. Don't you agree?

I need to find out how many bytes equals a line. Any advice would be helpful.

60 bytes equals a 60 character line. SM
If you have a document that equals 30,000 bytes you divide it by 60 to get 500 lines. If your line rate is 7 cpl, you have made approximately $35.
They used to do this years ago, before AAMT came out with the 65 character line standard. It all works out the same way eventually.

in case you haven't heard lately, am I am being honest about it. We're paid half of what we were paid 10 years ago, salary is going down yearly on a more or less geometric level...this is line by line, got it?
File sizes are saved in Kilobytes. 1,000 bytes equals 1 Kilobyte.

Aaahhhh, now I get it. Gross lines vs. Character lines. I guess I've just been conditioned to
think in terms of character lines. One of the perils of working as an IC for somebody who defines what a line is versus owning your own company and defining it yourself. After working for someone else for 15 years, maybe it's time to bust out on my own.

Physically, the stresses are still the same, the sitting, and while you do not have all the heavy keyboarding, you still have neck, arm, leg swelling, back hurting, and all the little things that just go naturally with sitting at a computer all day. Your tendinitis should improve, however!

Stop and think MTBusy-body
A professional company, well organized, will have the specs on the accounts UP FRONT, on file, before you start the account. Did you not stop to think about that? If you are going to come down on the girl, come down on the company, where the problem begins. A well organized company has the specs on file, gives the preferences of the particular client and does not waste time sending preferences piecemeal. Geesh, did you not think of that?

and drink a lot of water. The rule of thumb is 6 oz per pound of body weight.
Exactly- my brother is an ex body builder
and certainly very masculine, but he gets a pedicure every month - his wife is all for it (you know how those hooves can get, guys! LOL), whitens his teeth, highlights his hair, and shaves his entire body (left over behavior from body building days, no doubt).

I have had a struggle with weight my entire life. As we speak now I am on Weight Watchers. I don't want to be model thin because I know that is never happening and some people aren't made to be that way. I am tall, an inch from being 6'. Before when I look at pictures I am thinking "Hey, I was not so bad. I DID carry my weight well." But during those times I thought I was horrible. Now, just topped the scale to 300 and I am scared to death! In the past year, since working from home and being depressed, I have put on an easily 50 lbs. I weigh more than I weighed with being 9 months pregnant with my son.
Anyway, I know for my health I need to get my weight down. But the question is - if you are heavy, how do you feel good about yourself and your body, enough to let that stress go so you can focus on other things in life? This consumes my every thought. Sometimes I think I need to see a psychiatrist to get this matter resolved.
I pray daily and ask God to help. I feel if I can learn to have a better self image of myself that I CAN conquer this goal and lose the weight.
Tips please....I don't look at other heavy women as ugly and fat. A lot of people I couldn't imagine being thin, yet they look great! I just wish I could picture myself that way.
BTW - in the almost 6 years my husband and I have been married, he has NEVER seen my naked, even when I wasn't so heavy. It is always "give me the covers, turn out the lights" and never intimate without clothes on. I want real intimacy. I want to feel good about myself. How do I achieve this while in the process of losing weight?
Selling body parts in the US sm
There was a brief mention of a recent arrest (I believe it was in New York) of a phony business set-up involving funeral homes, etc., selling bone grafts, etc. from dead bodies (one was supposedly Allistair Cook's body of the PBS fame) and replacing these parts with PVC piping in some cases. These people made "millions" and the patients/families had to be notified. One man was practically crying because he had been told he has to be tested every 6 mos. for HIV, hepatitis, etc., since he had a recent surgery on his neck. They said it may not present itself for years in some cases. They showed some gentlemen being led away in handcuffs but the story was cut short. Anyone else know about this travesty and why so little else has been said about it or is there any web site, etc., that explains it in more detail? Would like to know morel I am very concerned for the recipients as well as the unbeknownst-to-them "donor" families.

It will take another 3-4 weeks to get your energy back and at least a full 6 months to 1 year to feel back to normal, whatever normal means?.
I has been 11 months for me now, and I am still tired more often than not.
I was up and moving around and taking long walks after the 2 week though. Back to work in 2-3 weeks. I had abdominal hysterectomy, so it may depend on whether you had abdominal or laparoscopic.
They say, lap-hys is better on the body and you are back to normal faster.

Head tired, body anxious
Anybody else have symptoms where your head is tired, but your body is anxious? At night it is the opposite, my head keeps running, but my body is tired. I find it hard to focus on work, but if I take anything to help me concentrate, i.e., Adderrall, then I feel all my muscles tense up and my heart beat faster. Its driving me nuts. Anybody else have this problem and have a remedy? Thanks!

Every person's body is different and heals at a different rate.
You could be back in 5 days or 30 days. It depends on how your body handles it.
I was back in 4 days after my first C-Section - I was out of bed the same night of surgery, walking around the halls, and home in 2 days. The woman next to me was in bed for 2 days moaning and complaining the whole time.
So, as you can see, everyone is different. Good luck to you.
It is her body...however, the life insider her does not belong to her!
God blessed her with this child and now she needs to find out why. If she is not ready for this then thats her decision but there are other options out there. Abortion is unexceptable birth control. Maybe by taking your niece to an alternative to abortion pregnancy center (family.org has an abundance of info) they can give her all the information she needs to make the best decision not a blind decision. I will pray for your situation. Please keep us posted!
