I recently received a quote for a local web design company, and it was close to $1,000! I don't have that kind of money. I would just like somewhere to tell a little bit about myself and the services I offer to Physicians.

They know to come in when the street lights flicker on.
Strength in numbers though. I'd never let one of my kids go to the playground on the next street over by themselves, but my parents never let any of us wander off too far by ourselves either. It was always with a bunch of other kids.
I don't really think a public website is the place
to be asking such a personal question...and if I were the people in question I don't believe I would want my last name on a public website either but that is just me...a little tact might have been nice...

The averages charged for transcription in a certain area? I am typing up my offer letter and wanted to be able to show them what the average is compared to what I am offering them.

Yes, but you'll probably need to find a smaller MTSO.
Put your resume in the MTstars resume database specifically stating what you're looking for. The smaller MTSOs usually don't put ads in because they don't want to be bombarded with hundreds of resumes. If you leave your info, they'll come to you. I had three independent contractor "p.r.n." or "very part-time positions" this past summer, so the positions are out there. Then I figured since I was already putting in 30 hours between the three, why not just work 20+ hours as an employee? So I am. Good luck with it!

unfortunately, there aren't many MTSOs out there who will confront a poor dictator and nip it in the bud to begin with.
In the old days we used to do this all the time. A doctor was put on report and told to shape up and if he didn't he would either be charged more because they had to pay an MT more to do his lousy dictation, or he was always given the option to do his own reports if he wouldn't comply.
Believe it or not, almost every physician my former company did this to straightened up their act became good dictators and found that it was actually less stressful and less time consuming for them too!!
The MTSOs just don't have the guts to do this anymore... and they should. I can make more money on good dictators with a lower line rate than crappy dictators at a higher rate, and would rather have the better dictators and lower rate than the other... it's a win-win for both the MT and MTSO because the MT is making more money per hour and the MTSO gets to pay less for her MTs and make a better profit. I can't believe the MTSOs haven't figured this one out.

Anyone know of a good website
that is informative about how to start an independent digital transcription business. Has anyone here written or thought about writing a book? I guess I am looking for information about how to go from being a great transcriptionist to knowing more about the actual technology involved in the business. Or is it just a learn as you go type of thing.

MQ was a good place to work
I have been with them for 6 years and before that with another company. I have been extremely happy working for MQ; but too many things are changing and it is a very uncomfortable feeling. I wish I still had my old office to work from but unfortunately I have no say.
I might be checking out the grass on the other side to see if it is really any greener. What do I have to lose? I am no longer happy.

Need a good place to get ink cartridges.
I have been ordering my HP ink cartridges for Office Depot. The expense is getting out of hand, and the ink does not last any time at all. Does anyone have any ideas? Walmart seems to be higher than Office Depot. I have gotten burned before ordering from some place online. The cartridges were an off brand, and although they said they would, they would not work in our printers.

Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier, Kittery Point, ME.
You bring your own cocktails, appetizers, tablecloth. It is creekside, very casual, parts are open air and parts under a tent. You pick your lobster, they cook and bring to your table. Just fabulous, just get there early because parking is limited.
New Hampshire, there is no sales tax on liquor.
Just driving up the coast of Maine is fabulous.

Would MTSO rather keep good MT who knows
doctor or would MTSO rather try to find anther MT, train that MT and maybe not be happy with that MT's work. I say better to stay with MT you know than take risk of an unknown MT. I have had dr. I hated and asked to be off that doctor. It took a little bit for them to find replacement but I was taken off that acct and placed on another. It is hard to find good MTs. Better to keep a good MT for all the other work she does than get rid of her over one doctor, who the MTSO knows is a pain in the rear.

A good place to get reasonable, objective info regarding ADHD is CHADD
just keep it in mind for the future. www.chad.org. Also there are some informative videos at coolnurse.com. About 10 videos regarding ADHD. you will have do a search on the site but it's worth it. If it's in her father's family it could be possible that she has it, and if so, you needed to get educated about it and be her advocate. School systems respond very well to confident, well prepared parents who come in to meet for a plan that allows for reasonable accomodations. I've been doing it for years.

This is not the norm. I average 130-175 lph, so it would take me a bit longer than 3 hours to make $100 (I am only PT now so I don't make much more than $50 a day) , and as she would be starting out fresh at a new job, probably with a national doing nothing but ESL the odds are she won't be making $100 in 3 hours.
What happent to the MTSO that pays what a good MT is worth.
I'm tired of the MTSO that promises great pay, nice dictators, affordable insurance, etc. 90% is all bull. On what planet is 8cpl or less great pay. You either have WAY more ESLs that you admit to or you have EFLs that talk out their rears. Be honest with your ads!

I have only a 1600 sq. ft. house, one floor, 3 bedrooms, one is my office and soon one will be just a guest room (my brother lives with us currently), and two full baths. We have 3 Shih Tuz dogs but no children. I probably wouldn't have anyone clean in my office as I would need to be working while the house cleaning person was here.
I remember my mom going through many housekeepers as they did just "surface cleaning" and did not get down and really clean like you described. I would love to find someone who does exactly as you described but only perhaps once a month as I can do some things the other weeks. My main problem is DUST! Where do I look to find someone that is as good as you found?!? :)
I just can't keep up with everything anymore and it is just adding more stress to my life and plus I have significant back issues so it just makes things so hard to do. Would love suggestions on where to begin looking for someone as incredible as you have found!

My platform is down and I'm always up for a good challenge, but I think part of the problem may be is that just a "physical therapy" reference/search site is too general as there are so many facets to PT,such as ortho, cardio, etc. I've looked for a good site for this for over an hour, hopefully someone has one right at their fingertips. if I get a lazy, mushmouth speedtalker, I don't bother much. I mean, I definitely strive for accuracy with what I *can* hear, but if there are unintelligible parts, I leave a blank rather than playing it over and over and over and trying to get it. If they obviously don't give a rip, why should I?
