Agree with pat..takes too long

I'm a member of NFO and after about three months I have about 970 points, and you need 1,000 points for just $10.  I only receive about two invites a week for surveys, don't know how to get anymore than that.  I'm also a MyPoints member.  I usually just get the 5 points for reading the message and never buy anything, so it takes a long time to get points added up for me.  Maybe once a year I do redeem them for about $20 worth of gift cards.

The people who advertise that you can do the surveys in your spare time and make all this extra money make it sound like you can just log on to a site and they are sitting there waiting for you, and you can do as many as you want, all day long, for as much money as you want to make.  Wouldn't that be nice!

I have never heard of or seen the car advertising thing except on cabs and public transportation, oh, and of course delivery trucks and cars.

I don't know how long it takes YOU to go to the bathroom...
but 40 minutes sure is enough time in 8 hours...give me a break...
Your settings are definitely wrong if it takes you that long.
Go to File/preferences, and reset the Pause _ msec after ___ Keystrokes to Pause 1 msec after every 25 keystrokes. You will see an amazing difference in the speed of the program.
You don't want to record, takes a long time and unless you

are making big $$ you won't make any money.  Also, if you forget to rerecord header info you're out of luck.

You can get an adapter from Radio Shack for about $15 and rerecord to a cassette player, in which case you'll need a transcriber, or record to your computer and I'm not sure how that is done.

As I stated last week when you asked this question, you need to look into digital phone service, something like Vonage, or most high-speed internet services also offer it.

You could also buy prepaid phone cards at Sam's Club, where they are fairly cheap, but you're still talking about $100+/mo.   My digital phone is $34.95/month and you can keep your landline or switch it to digital, which is what I did.

It takes a long time to become familiar with
all of the surgical instruments and equipment in operative reports. Most of the time if you do operative reports you usually do all specialties, and each specialty has certain equipment that they use. It just takes time to learn.
I guess, as long as nobody takes a look at the demographics, it's o.k...nm

As long as it takes to post on here, google came up quicker

As long as it takes, to quote good old Dr. Phil!

You're both worth it - go for it!!

How long would you say it takes to get a decent grip on them. I do have samples already I have read
over and they arent hard but I havent heard the voices yet.
Good answers and becoming a skilled MT takes surprisingly long, but SM
although 5 years may be about average, there's an old saying about how some people have 20 years' experience and some have one year repeated 20 times. If you want to cut that 5 years down VERY substantially, work full time (a conscientious full time, not just slopping thru the day) and push for new work types and accounts as woon as you've milked the old ones for all you can learn from them. Plus, a reality is that availability of the Web as a resource now helps people function at a much higher level earlier than previously.
Some people just can't help but try to show - sm
off their "intelligence" whenever they get the chance!
Nah, some people just feel the need to show off. sm
Dressing babies like that is expensive! Personally, if I ever get around to having kids, my babies will be in onesies till they outgrow them, and then it's OshKoshB'Gosh overalls after that, lol.
You show people how to treat you. We don't

do gifts at my house.  There isn't a single thing I need that I don't already have.  I got breakfast in bed (omelet, bacon, and French toast).  Lunch and dinner was cooked for me and the dishes done, laundry was done, the den picked up.  My car was detailed by my children and my children also spread a pile of mulch for me.  They would have had to spread the mulch anyway, but it would have taken days, they did it in about 1/2 day.   I also received cards.   The kids didn't fight, I didn't get anything that I wouldn't use anyway, and it was just a very nice day.

I always make a big deal out of birthdays and holidays for my family and they know what I want from them.

People's personalities usually show up in their

work, IMHO, so the perfectionist QA usually QAs work to death; the pessimist QA finds anything wrong, or focuses on the wrong stuff with no hope for improvement; the optimist QA finds things wrong, but focuses on how they can be improved.

Don't take QA stuff personal.  I mean, take it personal to improve your MT skills, but not personal as an affront on yourself, especially if you know your work is good

how about switching it around and telling the people who run the show that you really can't
expect any more out of people who have not received increases in pay in years, are swamped with ESLs and American mushmouths and they really should stop and think about the pay rate being increased so you aren't faced with this scenario.  how about representing the MTs interests instead of sucking up to the big boys?
No, out east ... lots of rude people running the show, it seems ... sigh. nm

Look at my piggy bank after I bought gas yesterday

Mother volunteers is NOTHING new at all....
I was a child in the 1960s/early 70s and in grade school almost ALL mothers were at home.  I remember half the school walking or riding their bikes home for lunch.  We always had a room mother and mothers were involved in all sorts of things like PTA, fall carnivals, library, etc.  However, they probably weren't the overbearing "my kid can do no wrong" type of parents we have today.  In my childhood the world was different, you could ride your bike, skate without body armour, climb trees, and fall down and bust your arm in your friend's yard and your parents didn't sue them (happened to me at age 9).  It's just a different worlds now.
these could ve volunteers, my hospital has a ton of them.NM
.
A girl in one of my classes volunteers as a doula -
I think it's a pretty neat idea, although this girl is about 22, very cute with a slender little body, and has never had a child before!  But actually she does have the personality for it; very compassionate and caring.
This is why people have to wait so long when

You had better be life-flighted or you are waiting 4-ever because of these types of cases.  I had a doc when I was on staff say he asked the patient, How long have you have this boyle on your butt?  The guy said oh, about 3 weeks.  So the doc says, and you wait until 3 a.m. to show up in the ER to decide to get treatment? And, the guy says, yeah, I culdn't stand the pain anymore.  So the doc says, well, we're going to lance it, but unfortunately we can't give you any pain medicine for this procedure at 3 a.m.  The guy decided to see his primary in the a.m. and left.

Don't worry about age (I'm 45 too), in this age of people living so long,
x
As long as healthy, able-bodied people
are willing to maintain a poverty mentality and continue to be content to work a minimum-wage job without making any effort to better themselves, they will remain trapped in the misery they've created for themselves. There is no reason why able-bodied people in this country should not be able to provide adequately for their families. There is nothing noble or pure about abel-bodied people choosing poverty and misery just because it's too much trouble to improve one's life and it's so much easier just to get some mindless minimum-wage job or just sit and collect welfare. Their selfishness deprives the truly needy of the help and resources the rest of us pay for that should be devoted to helping those genuinely in need. If able-bodied people decide to make stupid choices--which includes not preparing for emergencies as well as the well-known stupid choices of breeding more children than they can support, choosing to bear children out of wedlock, choosing addiction, choosing to drop out of schoos, etc., etc--they should not automatically expect to be bailed out of the consequences of their poor choices. It has nothing to do with compassion or lack thereof. It's simple common sense.
Amen!some of these people have been out of social circulation way too long
LOL
As long as you're correcting people, think about "English."

People will be rude, and impose themselves, as long as you allow it. Once you put your foot down, a
It's just that it's too easy to impose on you. You have to stop them, kindly but firmly. I'm working now, and I cannot do that for you. They learn, they learn.
trailer parks have long been the but of jokes about the people who live in them.
You know that. If you choose to live in a trailer park that is certainly your right but sorry the stigma is there and I nor the OP created it. There was a running joke about Paula Jones (Clinton's "friend") being trailer park trash. Why? I don't know as I do not live in trailer park nor do I want to because I don't want the stigma. I was looking at property in North Carolina and there was no zoning regulation so the property was across the street from a trailer park which brought property values down. I am not making this up nor do I create it. It is what it is. Oh, BTW, there is a new show coming on MTV, a parody I think of the home improvement shows, where a gay biker type grit, tries to rehab trailer homes. Hilarious. Again, I didn't make it up nor stigmatize trailer parks. Someone took a concept of their idea of people and their trailer homes and ran with it. There is also the same idea in Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy on Comedy Channel.

Bottom line, there is a stigma to living in a trailer park and you have to learn to live with that. I personally can't live with the stigma and do not entertain the thought of moving to a trailer park. I think it would be hard on my kids to have that trailer park stigma on them as they enter school.
Money is money and most people will do whatever it takes when in need. sm
if you do bring it to the attn of the office manager, why not offer her a raise to compensate. it is obvious she just needs or wants more money than your office is paying her. I agree, it is a free country and although it seems odd, unless you had it outlined in contract, she can work for whomever or whereever she pleases on the side. at least she is typing and not at a strip joint, lol. I see no conflict of interest, she has experience obviously in whichever field you are in and what is wrong with doing extra in that field. i agree with MYOB "nicely" and concentrate on your reports than looking at older reports and seeing who they are typed by.
We don't hold people who are guilty long enough as evident in the Idaho case where the sexual

OFFENDER (a very real proven criminal) was given freedom to kidnap, molest and kill one of two children.  Then again we have that society reject who TOLD the police he was a sexual offender and would do it again.  He was free to kill the little girl in Florida.  Now you hear our wonderful system cannot use his confession because he did not have a lawyer present.  I see why the Arubans may think we are the pot calling the kettle black.

As for Mrs. Twitty, she needs to appoint a spokesperson before she does any more damage.  I don't care how emotional she feels, she really is clueless about what is going on internally in the investigation and she needs to realize this and quit commenting.

If you can show proof you did this work for them, they then have to show they paid it in order

Anything I don't have to cook! (nm)
x
Don't worry about it. I used to cook like that, too.
I'd be so tired from working all the time that it was Hamburger Helper, fish sticks, or chicken nuggets. Our grocery bill used to be cheap, too. Hubby and I trade off cooking now. Honestly, we're trying to eat healthier to lose weight. It's a "hobby" that has helped bring us together more in our marriage. We find new recipes on the Internet all the time. Gotta have variety somewhere.... LOL
I love to cook but
it isn't a lot of fun cooking for just 2.  We eat out a lot and more and more places are offering carry out, such as Applebee's.  Also check out your meat counter at the grocery.  They have more and more stuff already prepared so all you have to do is heat it up.  Like get a meat loaf, some already prepared mashed 'taters, open a can of green beans or whatever and have some already prepared salad and presto, you have a "home cooked" meal.  Well, maybe not exactly home cooked but as good as most restaurant food and a lot cheaper.  We also like hamburger and tuna helpers.  shhhhh don't tell my grown up kids that.
Whatever DH decides to cook here.
x
You have time to cook?
Not me. I work full time and have two small kids at home all day so it is impossible.  I wish I had time to cook though.  I just stock my freezer with frozen foods, and on some days my DH will pick up something on his way home from work.
What else do you like to cook in your crockpot?
I love a roast in the crockpot but what else is really good?
Dairy is the best, but I'm not a cook, so
I'm not sure if sour cream or plain yogurt would work in a soup. Another idea would be to sweeten it. You could experiment with small bowls of it. If it were too salty, it would be potatoes that would help.
Oh my ... you have it rough. I don't think I even know how to cook without onions! sm
For my meatloaf, I use salsa too, plus hamburger, hot Jimmy Dean sausage, breadcrumbs, & egg.  Heck, this is making me hungry for meatloaf now!  :-)
My kinda cook! I can sure relate! nm

Does anyone eat out a lot. I don't like to cook but am bored with the same old fast food.

Got any places not too expensive where I can get food to go.  To go is the key.  Bored with McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, delivery pizza.  (Boston Market?)

 Thanks.

Hi Memaw- you know, it's not as hard to cook for a veggie as you might think, unless
she is particularly fussy. There are so many good vegetarian cookbooks that any creative vegetable side dish could be made into a mean main dish for a vegetarian.
I cook mine low - about 225 or 250, for about 10 minutes per pound

if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.

As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.
Next time cook it in the oven wrapped in foil. sm

This recipe is from pre-crockpot era.

Double wrap the roast in foil.  Poke holes in the foil with a fork and put the roast with the poked holes side down on the broiler pan.  Bake at 350 according to the size of the roast per pound.  Very yummy and very easy. Pan drippings make the best gravy.

My husband feels the same way. Fortunately I'm a good cook but sometimes I need to get away from

have to cook chicken for my BF...the 20-cloves of garlic, is that from Rachel Ray?

Wait, I think it was from the barefoot contessa show, I saw her do that but not in a crockpot.

(We are looking for a place to buy chickens locally as I still believe no animal has to suffer for me, smile!)

Just because I am lazy, is that recipe already posted here, can I do a search to find it?

Thank you everyone!

No, my turkey is still in my freezer. I refused to cook this year.
I'm either going to cook it at Christmastime or slap some Cajun sauce on it and BBQ when the 18" of snow melts.
I'm so not a good cook and read the recipe below regarding briskets. May I ask what exactly is
