For a broader view for a greater understanding and perspective on some of these issues, I'd recommend starting with a good book or two. The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman offers a thoughtful--and very readable--view of globalization and outsourcing, for instance. For now, hoping our files will be "brought home," i.e., basically wishing our local hospitals still had to hire those of us who live within a commute of them, is pretty much like hoping computers will go away. I'd spend my time and energy elsewhere.

Pre and Post 9/11, there were no terrorists in Iraq..they were in Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia..Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism..In fact, Saddams ideology and religion did not click with Bin Laden's..They did not even like each other..ONCE AGAIN....9/11 HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IRAQ AND SADDAM..Now, due to Chimp Boys idiotic immoral illegal imbecile attack on Iraq, sure NOW Iraq is a hot bed of terrorism but it WASNT before 9/11..For pete sake, open your eyes to the truth..In a poll, Bush was number one as terrorist in the world..In another poll, China is better liked and respected among the world than America..

I am not defending Indian MTs, per se, but terrorists were here in the US... So, I guess I'm not getting why you feel that would mean our medical records are in jeopardy.  My heart goes out to those people. They did nothing wrong. I did read something that the attacks were meant for the US and Britons that were in India.

Very nice ski season here and it is beautiful too!! Not that NC isn't, I have heard it absolutely beautiful there.
Here in Oregon, it is truly a wonderful place...beaches and snow skiing....aside from our rainfall and a little cold in the winter with a little snow, I really love it here!

We are very fortunate, indeed. These no-mind brainless idiots could be right around us. We can't let them get away with it, no matter where. I never thought my beautiful, innocent first grader would come home and tell me they have to practice getting under the desk for cover, lock their door and stay under the teacher's desk if possible, should any "bad guys" come into their school. Heartbreaking. They may be preparing for the nuts who come to school with a gun but I hate to see this happening in little first graders lives. How sad! As much as I hate to see work going to India, I don't wish them any harm. It shouldn't happen to a dog, never mind people. I will pray for them because the shoe someday may be on the other foot, God forbid! Yes, they were targeting Brits and Americans, that's how much they hate us, but I'm sure some people from India suffered as well. Terrorists know no boundaries, all they want is "terror" and heartache.
I am thankful today for my freedom and for those who are putting their lives on the line to protect us. We live in a great country. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, even if times are tough, we have the privilege of living in a great country.

Don't forget to ask...
What types of accounts you will have and whether you will have backups if your primary runs out of work. Do they pay for spaces and use of expansions or normals? Are hours flexible if you need it? Is there any charge for equipment? software? Is tech support available all the time? How soon do the bennies such as health insurance kick in? How often do you get paid and when can you expect your first paycheck? Do they give pay raises, incentives or anything else that can increase your income? What kind of training will you get until you are comfortable with the accounts? Are there a lot of ESLs?
Whether they answer any questions honestly or not you will find out when you get started. Probably best to run the company name on MTStars and see what you get. Good luck!

It really helps if you can have someone who is just in charge of the money. They could sit at a table and concentrate on just taking in the money. You can get really distracted when buyers want to ask you about merchandise. So much fun at the end of the day adding it all up and treating yourself to a yummy lunch!

My friend is a speech pathologist. She told me that before she met me, she never used to think of the transcriptionist. She hated dictating, but she had to do it. So she used to dictate as fast as possible just to get it over with, not thinking that someone had to figure out what she was saying. But now she makes an effort to be understood and actually acknowledges MT and will say good day and thank you.

Work is not guaranteed, no pay for downtime (or rarely), must know all specialties, be around when work is there - not necessarily what you agreed to, work over or get no work, be availabe via phone, messagers and email, oh and be an Office and Word expert cause we aren't providing any help with that...Plus, lunch is at your desk...I bet starbucks even gives you a lunch break without whining about it.

Things like benefits, paid holidays, vacation and sick pay. Those all add to your per line rate as an employee, and you should be compensated appropriately to offset these things as an IC.

to criticize others because they have nothing in their real lives to feel good about. If they have to go around telling us what we do "wrong" and how perfect they are, they have some serious self esteem issues there. Nice judgmental personality types, too.
There's a big difference between an occasional alcoholic beverage and a full-blown substance abuse problem. Unfortunately, public schools teach kids that their parents are "doing drugs" if we imbibe at all. DH and I like an occasional cold Corona with lime to wash down spicy food. Now, our kid thinks we're going to be arrested or die from "doing drugs".
Life isn't black or white, all or nothing, good or bad. There are a lot of gray areas out there. Some people on the boards need to learn that they aren't perfect enough to pass judgment on the rest of us. There's only ONE person who's fit to do that.

If either him or I cheated, the trust is gone in the marriage. I think I would forgive him (not right away) as he is the father of my kids and I will always have a relationship with him whether married or not, but I I think at that point, the marriage would be over.
